Amsterdam - Kadijksplein.
Arbeiders die in de pakhuizen van het Entrepotdok werkten vroegen begin jaren 1890 om een overdekte plek om op werk te wachten en om uitbetaald te worden. Ze moesten in de open lucht wachten op werk en werden uitbetaald in een van de vele cafés in de buurt. Het gemeentebestuur besloot de bouw van een koffiehuis te betalen. De "Volksbond, Vereeniging tegen Drankmisbruik" bleek bereid te zijn de exploitatie op zich te nemen (amsterdamopdekaart.nl).

Coastal reinforcements at the Breskens Waterdunen area in Zeeland.
Hengelo has a beautiful water attraction. On hot days you can cool off at these jumping fountains. And in the evening, the illuminated fountains with LED lighting create atmosphere on the square. Because the municipality hopes that it will become a meeting square, there are also benches.
The fountain installation has 13 bouncy fountains. These alternately spray the water in arcs of 2.5 meters high. Under each bouncy fountain there are 3 fountains, a total of 39 pieces. These spray water vertically up to 1.5 meters high. Different heights, rhythms and colors can be set. The fountain will be on from approximately March to November.

De originele Arend locomotief is in 1857 gesloopt. Bovenstaande replica is in 1938 gebouwd door de Centrale Werkplaats Zwolle voor NS, ter ere van het 100-jarig bestaan van de spoorwegen in Nederland.
De originele Arend, gebouwd in Engeland, rijdt op 20 september 1839 de eerste officiële treinrit van Nederland,
tussen Amsterdam en Haarlem. Voor het geval de locomotief uitvalt, rijdt locomotief De Snelheid ook mee.
De Arend rijdt op een breder spoor dan we nu gewend zijn. Nederland kiest in eerste instantie voor een spoorwijdte van 1945 millimeter. Dat zou veiliger zijn. Later is men overgegaan op normaalspoor met een wijdte van 1435 mm, net als de sporen in de omringende landen.

The original Arend locomotive was scrapped in 1857. The replica above was built in 1938 by the Central Workshop Zwolle for NS, in honor of the 100th anniversary of the railways in the Netherlands.
The original Arend, built in England, runs the first official train ride in the Netherlands on September 20, 1839,
between Amsterdam and Haarlem. In case the locomotive breaks down, locomotive De Speed also runs along.
De Arend runs on a wider track than we are used to now. The Netherlands initially opts for a track gauge of 1945 millimetres. That would be safer. Later they switched to standard gauge with a width of 1435 mm, just like the tracks in the surrounding countries.
