Oh my... Figlet the Jacabob moved here a couple of days ago. I don't know what happened. I think it was LOVE at the first sight! Figlet looked at April... and look at them now! It's the wedding day!!!! Everything happened so fast, that guests are still arriving. The Mayor is trying to summon everyone to the wedding...

Toronto Mayor Rob Ford walked the length of the Beaches Easter Parade route handing out chocolates to the kids along the way.
He seemed to be enjoying this lighter part of the job on a fun day like today. The kids may not have not known who he was. It didn't matter much, they got Free Candy!!!
Ahead of him in the Parade, ironically, were three generations of TTC Streetcars.
The Mayor is not fond of Streetcars.

Royal Doulton plate "The Mayor", 265 mm. Given by my grandmother Alice Donzella MacDonald Southwick (1878-1929) to my grandfather Earnest Alonzo Southwick Sr. (1875-1939) when he was elected Mayor of Libby, Montana, about 1916. They relocated to Portland, Oregon, not long afterward. The plate was still in production in 1977, but is not today, though it is readily found on Ebay.

The mayor and the library board president have opposing views about the view from the city library now in its final stages of construction. Original plans provided for a panoramic view of Lake George but when city officials got a sneak preview the other day, the mayor noted with some emotion that the view had been blocked by a structure housing the ventilation and air conditioning system. The local paper's report suggested the architect was embarrassed, that the mayor was annoyed, and that solutions were far too expensive. Today Library Board President Jim Pehler in a progress report to POETS* today shouldered the blame, saying he promoted the additon of a prairie grass "green" roof over the a/c structure that will cleanse roof runoff but effectively block the view of Lake George. And besides, he added, it wasn't all that big a deal: "It's not really a lake, it's more like a pond."
