"The Major" by Paul Richardson (1967-) is a steel sculpture that has been painted black. It was installed in 2005 on the roof of public toilets at Majors Corner in Ipswich! Typical of the caricature style of Richardson, ‘The Major’ is depicted waving his fly-swat. The Raj-period Major is shown with handlebar moustache, monocle, plumed helmet and medals on his chest.
Paul Richardson was chosen to add this public sculpture to the public toilets because of his reputation for humorous sculpture and ability to bring his figures alive. The major is a caricature of an Indian army major concerned for hygiene as he swats at the flies endemic to hot climates and toilets.
This was the main display at the BFI IMAX cinema in London for the 2017 Ghost in the Shell film. I really liked the design of the display, and I wanted to make a monochrome version.

Small farms have always been a cornerstone of agricultural activity in the EU . There is no fixed definitionas to what constitutes a ’small’ or a ’large’ farm. In addition, there is no fixed definition as to when a smallfarm is rather a subsistence household producing food for its own consumption and is thus not an economicunit. For the purpose of the analyses presented in this article no cut-off thresholds for identifying subsistencehouseholds have been introduced. There are two main criteria that have been used to delineate farm size: themajority of the article is based on a classification of farms in economic terms based on their standard output, while the final part of the analysis provides an alternative measure, based on the utilised agricultural area(UAA) .
Putting these figures side-by-side tells me that the CT005 set is really tailored to custom-fit that Flirty Girl body, which has longer arms and shoulders that sit higher than a Verycool body. I might try to dress the figure (minus boots) on a Flirty Girl body just to confirm that, in which case I might revise my opinion of the jacket.
Overall, these are pretty solid offerings from CAT Toys. The biggest issue I have with either is the mechanics of the boots in the CT005 set, and maybe the fact that the jacket is tailored so specifically. However, the rest of the stuff in here (including the accessories and the headsculpts) all range from very good to exceptional. If you're into the movie or funky sci-fi outfits or just don't have enough 1/6 ScarJo in your collection, these ought to do you just fine.
Trying my best to make the jacket look a bit better, but she still looks like she's got the shoulder pads from hell here.

Kitbash and manipulated photographic portrait of Major Motoko Kusanagi, inspired by the recent 'Ghost in the Shell' movie trailer released by Paramount.
The sidearm that comes with the CT005 set is identical to the one that comes with the CT006 set, except that this one has an extended magazine. Unfortunately, there is no holster for the weapon, so the Major is stuck lugging it around in the open all the time.
The headsculpt is really really good, very closely resembling Scarlett Johansson as she appears in the movie. So I guess if you haven't had enough ScarJo headsculpts yet, now's your chance to score another one. Skin tone should match suntan skin tones, and it tends to the darker side.
The boxed set comes fully equipped for combat operations. Her body armor harness is quite intricate but looks really good on the figure. She also comes with her belt and sidearm holster, with a magazine holder. Everything is alll set up right out of the box, so no assembly required. This is a Good Thing.
The last piece of clothing in the box is the jacket, which looks amazing in the box but not so great on the figure. The shoulders are really really REALLY big, and the sleeves are incredibly long (as in they cover the hands if you don't pull them up). It seems that the movie jacket sleeves really were tailored that way (there's a nice high-res photo available in this article), but the shoulders just make her look too much like a linebacker.
Here's what she looks like out of the box, just with a bit of hair gel applied to tame those locks a bit.
The base body under there seems to be either licensed from Flirty Girl or a clone of that base body. This is an OK choice -- I'm not crazy about the ratchets of the arms (which seem to restrict movement more than they need to), or the extremely limited articulation of the ankles. I also find that the hands are very very soft, and have a bit of trouble holding on to things.

The CT005 set just comes with clothing and a headsculpt, so it's much cheaper and smaller than the CT006 set. This is the Major in a more low-profile outfit than her assault suit. The base clothing is a heather-gray tank top and form-fitting leather/cloth pants. I used a Verycool base body for this set, which is still my jointed female body of choice. I don't like the wrist pegs, like, at all, but otherwise it's the best all-around base body on the market IMO.
Doing a one-knee position to show the body articulation and how the outfit looks in these poses. The knee and shin guards don't get in the way and the body is flexible enough to take this pose easily and stay very stable.

So good news/bad news story about the boots. The good news is that they're meant for feet (meaning they have no boot foot or ankle peg in them). The bad news is that they've got these buckles at the top which are really difficult to work with. It's easier to unbuckle them and untie the boot to get a flat foot in the boot, but then re-buckling the boot is damn near impossible. Timestamps show I was messing with this boot for 20 minutes trying to re-buckle it before I finally just gave up.
Rear view of the lower-part of the uniform. Those little plates on the sides of her shin guards are hinged, although in practice it seems that their major function is to fall off if you mess with them too much.

Still catching up on 1/6 photo reviews. These are the CAT TOys CT005 and CT006 sets, inspired by Scarlett Johansson as "The Major" in the live-action "Ghost in the Shell" movie. I didn't care for the movie at all, but the sets sure looked nice. For the most part, they measure up to expectations.
With a bit of help from my friendly neighborhood vendor (who doesn't actually live in my neighborhood but whatever), I discovered that there's a very well hidden hook to the belt. Pull the little panel on the rear to the side and you'll expose the hook that keeps the belt on the figure. It's tiny enough that I decided that further stripping down the figure was not worth it, and it also seemed like exposing it was doing some damage to the belt itself.
One weird thing I noticed was that the belt seems to have zipper teeth on the bottom edge and I don't really know why. It's not that they look bad or anything, and I'm guessing this is another movie accuracy thing. Just strikes me as odd.
Closer look at the patch that's on her arm. The jumpsuit she's in is a soft cloth that doesn't restrict movement (although the body underneath does a bit).
The pants are meant to be form-fitting, and they fit fine on the Verycool body. I expect they're tailored for the Flirty Girl body (or clone) that the CT006 is on, since that body is a bit beefier than the Verycool. They work fine, though. The front of the pants have functioning pockets.
The sidearm holster is fabric and matches the belt. It works fine, though it looks a bit weird to me.
Getting into a shooting pose with the rifle is easier than with the pistol. The right hand has been swapped with the flat palm for these shots, which turned out to be a mistake first because it was a pain to work with the glove and second because the flat palm is pretty much useless for anything but neutral posing.
Her bullpup rifle is a nicely sculpted piece but has no moving parts at all. The IMFDB identifies this as the "Police Bike Tavor SMG," based on the IWI X95 bullpup rifle/PDW. The sculpting certainly seems to match the appearance in the movie, and it's a very solidly built piece of 1/6 hardware.
The Major is sporting 2-piece knee-and-shin guards that have a nice distressed metal look to them. They're held on with elastics which have a tendency to slide around and slip down a lot. There were lots of deleted shots where I'd get a photo and then catch that a knee or shin guard had slipped out of place and looked goofy.

From the name to its subject, director Sameer Babu has chosena different treatment to depict the theme.
The experience encountered by a transgenderin life is the core theme of the film. Along with that, it also portrays the life of others associated with this person. As the characters in this film are mostly the faces we are familiar with, they bear no names. This film is an attempt to depict the things we already know andthose we have ignored. All the characters in this cinema are played bynew faces. Cinematography of this film is handled by the director himself.
The film commences with the care free life of village childhood in Kerala. The protagonist aspires for a bright adolescence,but ultimately end up as a youth who lives just for the sake of living. It deals with the trauma of a small boy, who is constantly being sodomised. To add insult to injury, his mother happens to witness the act and it shocks her. The unbearable pain shatters herand she commits suicide.
Constantly being harassed sexually, the boy slowly transforms into a transgender. Later, she leaves her village and migrates to a city where she manages to find a livelihood by offering sexual favors.At one stage, she feels that her life is not under hercontrol. All these incidentsgive us an insight into the vulnerability in the life of a transgender.
Some of the most emotional scenes in the film
- The mother witnessing her son being subjected to sexual abuse
- His friend witnessing him being sodomised and the subsequent chasing between the two friends and the former’sdrowning.
- The sexual relationship of the protagonistwith her transgender friend which redefine the masculine traits in him/her.
Constant sexual exploitation, contempt and ill treatment by the societyare themajor problems being encountered by the transgender community. Thismovie raises questions about the double standard of the society which pretends to be socially and culturally progressive.
Our so-called modern society has not been able to completelyaccept transgender community. We never bother about their emotions, thoughts, and above all, their life. This film depicts all emotions of such persons.
This72-minute-longexperimental movie will be a visual treat for the audience. The movie will leave an imprint on his/her mind.
In brief, SCENE NUMBER 6, THE EXISTENCE OF GOD isa replica of true life which tells the story of a person who leads a solitary lifedue to certain circumstances, and is crafted in a format which has not been experienced yet.
