I took this photo in Kenya. I wanted to express the strong connection between these family members (Father, Mother and Child...). When we all look in the same direction, everything seems possible. I edited my picture to get better colors, better details...

We Need To Be Together

A poem by Peter S. Quinn

The hour is falling free

Into the reflections

Of going mood

Purpose and work about

For you and for me

River of words life's food

Everything coming to go

Passions of feelings loss

Enormous ways you'll know

Getting day's music across

The times of being here

In our answers to find

About the thoughts

We give and share

Through the echoes

Where we together

Are entwined

Had the title in mind before diving into the processing stage. Normally I find this kind of colour layering to be cheesy, but here it just works (for me that is). The guys to the left inspired me to do it like this; like they are in awe of something spectacular. The wideangle helps increasing the drama, of course.

HDR from a single RAW, processed in Photomatix. Nik Color Efex Pro did the rest.

Depsite the weather, windy and blowing snow, the town of Collingwood went ahead with their street festival,... The Future Is Bright. Unfortunately the evening drone and light show had to be canceled because of the winds but the afternoon performers braved it out!

This is one of my favourite designs, Lloyds building in the city of London.

the results are in - our daughter did really well, she is delighted and we are so proud. The future is hers! Roll on college days.

Hanna: Why do I need a piece of paper to tell me my name?

Knepfler: Not you. Not you, my dear, but everyone else. We need paper and computers so we don't have to ask people their names or look them in the face. You have a good face. You look just like your father. And you walk like him, too.

As we leave 2011 and enter 2012, I thought this might be appropriate. I hope it'll be bright and beautiful for all of you. Thanks for all your support and encouragement in 2011. It's been much appreciated.

So...let's try it in Japanese: "Yoi otoshi o omukae kudasai (良いお年をお迎えください)" or simply "Yoi otoshi o (良いお年を)" which gives you something like this, "I wish that you will have a good new year."

All artworks are originals.

Or so I hope, for him. I loved his inside-out red shirt. He looked like a local kid. Perhaps his dad is a fisherman, and he's waiting for him. Or maybe he's thinking about what he wants to be when he's grown up. Or maybe none of the above...

Jack's hat on the picnic table seemed to send a message.

The present is darker!

Happy again.... Well it' s been an interesting week and a bit since starting to get my life back on track. I've found myself sleeping more than ever (it was well needed!), eating more and generally, I'm much happier. Life doesn't seem like a weight anymore.... I'm ready to get out there and go for it again! I'd like to thank some people that mean the world to me that have been helping me through the past few months Adam, Ari, Jules and Steve.... thank you so so much for all your kindness! Here's to the future.... it's going to be a bright one!

ODC, Future

This was taken as we were about to emerge from the Kennedy Tunnel in Antwerp (country 3 of 5 that we travelled through yesterday, which is always amazing to someone who grew up in a country where the same distance would only take me from one major city to another).

This tunnel and a few other mid-20th C locations in Holland, Belgium and France were named in honour of the late President Kennedy as JFK and the 60's were all about The Future and its myriad possibilities, hence my choice. At the time of shooting this photo it was more about my just trying to shoot something in the lowlight environment without a flash :-) Given the grubby state of our windscreen I'm not unhappy with this (slightly blurred) shot.

PS I was in the passenger seat so no one was at risk :-)
