Yesterday evening Techvibes took over the Commodore Ballroom on Granville Street for a night of great food, flowing booze, and epic networking between the city's top talent and its hottest hiring companies.
Several hundred eager prospects mingled with executive and recruiters for 16 companies: ACL, Allocadia, Amazon, Animal Logic, Boeing Canada - AeroInfo, BroadbandTV, BuildDirect, Clio, East Side Games, Function Point, Hootsuite, Marketing.AI, Payfirma, Paysavvy, Shoes.com and Unbounce.

Had a great time catching up with family and friends in Weston-Super-Mare yesterday. The strawberry sundae started out by being shared among three of our party, but I think all 7 of us dipped into it at the end.
This Roaring-Twenties built property, in the Cathedral Hill District just north of the biggest mansions on Summit Avenue, has attracted my attention in the past. But now, as the home of a new Art Deco, Jazz Era Bar and Restaurant, it has become irresistible, with its glamorous, eye-popping and optical illusion-inducing decor, and its historical associations with F. Scott Fitzgerald, Sinclair Lewis, speakeasies and gangsters. Above the restaurant and bar are condos, which long ago replaced the original residential hotel.

The 1979 Oldsmobile Cutlass Salon.
Just don't call it a "Citation".
I feel it was questionable planning on behalf of Olds' marketing team to name the base Cutlass model (of this generation) the "Salon". How many men, regardless of walk of life, did Olds think would want to drive something called a "Salon"? Granted, some dudes were getting perms back then, but you have to see my point.
As spotted from the Metra commuter rail on my way back from a job interview out in the western Chicago suburbs. If it wasn't literally zero degrees outside yesterday, I might have hopped off the train for some better quality shots before the next train arrived a half-hour later.
Beirut perform at The Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver on May 22nd, 2008.
By far my favouritre picture of the night.

So this isn't my most creative 365 Days shot. So what... it's what I could get in before the night was over LOL.
Today began rough. I woke up with a bad headache, a sore throat and generally felt run down. So I worked until about 10:00 and went home to sleep it off.
I woke up that afternoon feeling quite a bit better and spent some time with Clarissa helping her learn her song for her magnet school audition. That's when I got a phone call from my Travelhost publisher asking if I'd go to the Alabama Music Hall of Fame awards show. How could I refuse?
There were all kinds of Alabama artists there including Randy Owens of the group Alabama, Kris Kristofferson, Tommy Shaw of Styx, Percy Sledge, Eddie Floyd, The Commodores, Cleveland Eaton, Clarence Carter, Taylor Hicks, Beth Nielson Chapman and many more. It was a fun night. The best part was getting to see the Mayor of Prattville and our Governor dancing to "Strokin'" Can you say CLASSIC?!!

Brick House
The Commodores
www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrBx6mAWYPU
She's a brick----house
Mighty mighty, just lettin' it all hang out
She's a brick----house
The lady's stacked and that's a fact,
ain't holding nothing back.
She's a brick----house
She's the one, the only one,
who's built like a amazon
We're together everybody knows,
and here's how the story goes.
She knows she got everything
a woman needs to get a man, yeah.
How can she use, the things she use
36-24-36, what a winning hand!
The clothes she wears, the sexy ways,
make an old man wish for younger days
She knows she's built and knows how to please
Sure enough to knock a man to his knees
Shake it down, shake it down now
Shake it down, shake it down now
Shake it down, shake it down now
