Old Friend
...
We always knew those days would forever last
And all those friends we had would never pass
But they did and the numbers grow small
For a time we had it all
Like to see you again sometime
I'll try to call, my old friend

9th April 2017.
The tide was up, the Wave were as large as I have ever seen them in all my years living in California. The waves were so hi due to the week of bad weather in the area.

Marc Bird lead vocals and guitar.
Don Peterson on guitar in the foreground is the only regular member of Yesterday's Wine Band. Evan Ehgoetz on Steel with andJerry on bass and Chris on drums are all jammers.
Don & Marc have done many gigs together and the way they play off each other proves it.
The sound was bit of an overload for my phone so I remixed it on Youtube using the sound track from by Zoom H2n Audio Recorder

Falling Leaves By Kong Shao'an(577-622)
In early autumn I'm sad to see falling leaves;
They're dreary like a roamer's heart that theirfall grieves.
They twist and twirl as if struggling against thebreeze;
I seem to hear them cry, "We will not leaveour trees."

The pub name probably refers to the elevated, hillside location which this part of Walton is situated upon. On a clear day, it is possible to see over the Lancashire Plain to Winter Hill which rises above Bolton.
One more gig next Saturday and live, country music in Victoria comes to an end.
The legion is closing due to age-related, planned demolition and building of condominium structures on the site.

Paddington is an inner suburb west of Brisbane city, and is very hilly and trendy. In hot old Brisbane, it is said that you should live on a north east face of a hill to catch thebreeze.
Paddington Heights was a dress circle because "suburban differentiation in Brisbane does not follow the more usual pattern of working-class, middle-class and elite suburbs". The hills and dales of a subtropical city created a different pattern: "Wealthy people on the heights with the views and catching cooling breezes, and less affluent housing on the slopes and in the valleys."
The Paddington Water Tower built in 1927, is a rare example of an elevated reinforced concrete water tank. It is probably the only one of its type in Queensland being a reinforced concrete tank and is supported on a structural framework of twelve columns and octagonal grids of haunched beams.
The water tower is 70 feet (21.34 metres) high and the tank has a capacity of 100,000 gallons.
The Board had striven for 12 years to obtain the £12,000 necessary to build the Paddington Tower, and at the time was the most expensive single structure ever to have been constructed in the town of Ithaca.
The Paddington Water Tower is important for its aesthetic qualities as a readily recognisable landmark. It is one of Brisbane's most prominent landmarks, but is now surplus to water supply requirements and is no longer in use.
Now the tower is covered by mobile phone antennas, like many high structures around the city, and while they do try to blend them in, they are a blight on the landcape.
Sorry, I have to go now, my mobile phone is ringing.

About 2 weeks ago a building exploded in Tamahere, near to Hamilton where I stay. Some firemen had been called out to inspect a gas leak, and they were inside when it went up, one was killed and several were seriously injured. This photo was taken in town when there was a long procession as they brought the one firemen to the church, pretty much the whole city lined the streets, so it was pretty touching. Even the injured firemen were there in the ambulances. We've been raising money for them and their families at the radio station, and we haven't done too bad.
This was a tribute song I put together just after it happened.
