St Peter, Kings Ripton, Cambridgeshire
It was time to leave the long skein of Huntingdon suburbia behind, and so from St Ives I cycled up and up and out of the town. The road was a busy one, taking me past the former RAF Wyton, which had closed a couple of months previously. The base housing was being turned into social housing, and the site renamed' Wyton on the Hill', which is rather charming. The long road climbed and climbed, and eventually I was able to turn off for the tiny hamlet of Kings Ripton.
The little church sits on a mound on the only street, beside a flagpole flying the union flag upside down. A man was looking at the church over the fence. As I photographed it, he turned, and I saw he was wearing a dog collar. We greeted each other, and I said "I'm hoping that the church may be open." He replied "So am I, I'm supposed to be taking a service in twenty minutes." We waited for the keyholder to turn up, and chatted about the situation in Greece, where he'd been a chaplain for ten years. He'd previously been at Stowmarket in Suffolk. He'd retired now, and was licensed to minister at 28 churches in the Huntingdon area. He'd cycled from Huntingdon to take this service, but "I do hope I've come to the right one, it's so easy to make a mistake" he warned. However, eventually someone turned up and I stepped into the church.
"A rough church, inside and out" says Pevsner, and that's not unfair. A simple church, recently redecorated inside and still smelling of emulsion. There's a fine square font, its sides patterned with stylised leaves, which surely must be 12th century - if so, it is in very good condition. The little chancel is very pretty. Otherwise, not much of any great excitement, but everyone was very nice and welcoming. I bid my farewells and headed north again for the hamlet's larger sibling, Abbots Ripton.

Como el nombre lo dice, la Feria de las Flores, por los silleteros fue que nació esta Feria, es importante resaltar estos personajes, que llenan a Medellín de Flores y alegría.
A co-worker asked me to help her with an anniversary gift she's giving to her parents for their 30th. She basically arranged and paid for an awesome vacation and wanted a nice way of presenting it to them. I designed six pieces for her all to be included an Paper Source box mailer. I really love the design of the intro page.
Received after I complained to the Parks Department about the shameful deterioration of Flushing Meadows-Corona Park.
I still think that if the park were primarily used by white people pushing strollers as opposed to brown people playing soccer, it would be maintained something like the "flagship park" the Parks Department claims it is.
I thought the sixth graf was interesting, though -- restoration of the wonderful terrazzo map on the floor of the Tent of Tomorrow at the New York State Pavilion is a definite good thing.
