On Granville Island there is a shop Called Maiwa Handprints. They sell handwoven, blockprinted, embroidered, and naturally dyed textiles made using silk, linen, and/or cotton and created by artisans in India and other Asian countries. I love the textures, the colours, and the prints.

I worked a picture of Holy and Ivy on card which I transferred to fabric. The fabric was then cut into squares and applied to a background. I then added stitching and Angelina fibre to finnish.
These are the first printed prototypes (models) of the brand of textile designs and creams designer Laura Marro. This particular is that his canvases are produced with human hair, yes human hair.

Small quilt made with some of my huge stash of batiks. It's 'Chinese Lanterns', but I can't remember the name of the designer.
The Museum-Workshop is housed in one of the first, and most ancient, Franciscan dwellings in Italy, dating to around the year 1212 when Francis (Francesco) of Assisi (he was made a saint in 1228) and his disciples went to nearby Perugia to preach the Gospel and needed a place to live and pray. The Church of Saint Francis in the Field became the Women’s Church of Saint Francis in the year 1252, when the convent was passed down to the Benedictine Sisters who used hand looms to make textiles. The building had its ups and downs until 1821 when it became an educational facility for girls from homes experiencing poverty, employing up to 300 at a time. They produced unbleached silk items from their spinning mills that received international awards.

For this textile sample and textile sample 1 I was given a brief based on the word 'sandwich' I ended up focusing on squashed metals, scrap metals and junk yards. After finding a main idea I looked further into the wheels of quashed or scraped cars. This is where the circles came from. The colours came from the rusted cars. For ‘Textile samples’ I have cut holes into tracing paper and then used the heat gun to create the old rusted look and sewed that onto dyed brown cotton by sewing over the holes creating this web effect. On ‘Textiles sample 1’ I have dyed to sheets of fabric and torn one of them into strips, sewing them onto the other and then burning it with the pyro pen creating the small burnt holes.
This skirt was made by my group mates and i for textile manipulation. We manipulated the fabric by tie-dying as well as silk screen printing. We had inspiration from chandeliers and used that to create 3 products. The bag was made by weaving, and the embellishments were added to focus on the designs that a chandelier has.
