I found this advertisement for Chelsea Textiles in Architectural Digest and I found their aesthetic to be strikingly similar to those that we studied by William Morris. They are very stylized versions of nature, simple and geometric. This shows how contemporary design is influenced by the Arts and Crafts movement.

Barack Obama visited Ghana in 2009 and many textiles were produced bearing his image. This was one.

Bottom left is a watercolour and fineliner drawing of an onion. on the right is a negative print on to acetate melted with a heat gun and stitched into.

The distinctive feature of Poe mill was that it had 2 power plants and therefore 2 smoke stacks. The Poe Mill burned down in 2003 and only the smokestacks survived. Nearby residents took the initiative to create a skate park on the old factory foundation, but the site had to be closed after an EPA study found high levels of contaminants.
There is a plan to convert the entire factory site into a neighborhood park, and revitalize the surrounding community. Funding has been established for site cleanup, which is the first step in the process.
A tree is growing on top of one of the smokestacks. I hope that the smokestacks can be preserved, along with this tree. In the contest of tree VS smokestack, I'd bet on the tree winning - so it may be necessary to substitute an artificial tree to avoid structural damage.
