I've been working on FALL 2009 textiles lately. Nothing makes me happier than symmetry, color, and french. I'm hoping these get printed on silk-couture...we'll see! I've been designing textiles for the past few years very quietly for a company, so, this year I hope to finally get my website up and running with all the millions of textiles I've made and are in the works. I love textile design!
When designing the textile, think of it as your body of work and what message are you trying to send out to the world? Textile design is amazing because you can take pride in seeing your original artwork displayed on people all over the world!

Cardinal Products is a textile pirnting company.
Kincaid is a village in Christian County, and is located about 20 miles southeast of Springfield. The population was 1,135 at the 2000 census.

Testing my silkscreen and the opaque white on some scraps. Not sure how I will make this 'repeat' on the fabric... All Kona solids.
Working several projects at the same time.
It was only yesterday whilst filling in application forms for the two exhibitions I'm commited to this Autumn, that I realised that the dates clash and so I have to have two pieces finished very quickly.
I have shown here the first lay out of a background Suffrage piece. The centre is a section of calico which has been discharge and breakdown printed, and the outer edges are slub silk.
It's been another wet, dull day so the colours look very subued. However they just vibrate in real life. The yellow silk is shot with fucia, and the green is the acid green which makes your teeth ache.
Hope to stitch tomorrow, when hopefully the light will be better for photography.

Textile sublimation print is two stage process where the printed inks are transferred into a polyester textile through a heat process. Colors can differ greatly before and after the heat transfer, always an issue with sublimation print. You can see how Magenta tinted the B&W Jordberga image is before passing through heat fixation.
