The large number of books i have HAD to buy this year, and i am ONLY PART TIME, i hate to think what the full time people have forked out in textbooks - None of them were less then $80 either :S
These pictures represent my endeavor to photograph the waste occuring around my school.
We just. adopted a new textbook series and have to dump the old sets.
Most (almost all) of the workbooks (known as consumables) were unused.
A spine that can be fixed! Thomas Payne 's Exploring Language Structure. An excellent introduction to morphosyntax.
Dunno what the original owner (a student who took notes in the margins) has against the human head.
I've started selling vintage books in my Etsy store - at least, the ones I can bear to part with!
This is something I found recently at the university bookshop. Manga textbooks!
マンガでわかる (manga de wakaru) loosely translates to "You'll understand with Manga".
These textbooks are about pretty advanced subjects. There's 電子回路 (でんしかいろ) electronic circuitry, 量子力学 (りょうしりきがく) quantum mechanics and 熱力学 (ねつりきがく) thermodynamics!

CAPER BC and BCcampus coordinated an Accessibility Focus Group, which comprised of students with print disabilities. In December 2014 we asked students to review and provide written feedback on five chapters from five different open textbooks. Written feedback was received and compiled and on January 27, 2015. Representatives from CAPER BC, Camosun College, and BCcampus met face-to-face with five visually impaired students to gather verbal feedback through focus groups. Feedback gathered will determine accessibility improvements required for open textbooks with the goal of creating an accessibilty toolkit for content developers.

General Science text book published in 1989. Great eye catching cover and 681 pages of text and illustrations. The cover shows some use but is well bound and all of the pages and intact and free from markings. Gee, it's almost like the kids never even cracked the book open. Could be used to create a hollowed out book-box or the cover would be great for reuse to create a unique notebook or sketch pad. Or just read it to relive the good old days when Pluto was still a planet.
A Syrian refugee boy reads from his textbook. A Syrian refugee-a former teacher-set up the classroom when he saw Syrian refugee children wandering the neighborhood where they were living, because they couldn't get into the already overcrowded Jordanian schools. He approached their parents about starting a school. The school originally was in tents, and then a charity organization donated 3 trailers to use as classrooms. All the materials the children use are donated. The improvised school teaches children in grades 1-4. Families such as these children’s receive electronic food vouchers from USAID's partner the UN World Food Program.
