10th February 2016 - A rising tide and a text comes in on Waterloo beach.

From 7th Street in downtown Los Angeles, California.

Another example of a cutting edge technology that is now obsolete, a dual band Blackberry that ran on a network that no longer exists.

Focus stack (21 images). Shot with single off-camera strobe (Godox AD200Pro/Godox XPro II L trigger), bare bulb, mounted on overhead boom above subject, bounced of what 32 inch white umbrella.

I left Hoda a rambly (4-minute-long) voicemail the other evening as I was shoe-shopping for the sister's engagement. Somewhere in there, I mentioned the turquoise flip-flops I was looking at and contemplating whether or not to buy, even though that hadn't been the point of my shopping session.

Half an hour later, just as I got home, I received a text: "Buy the flip-flops!"

Me: "=) I already did!"

Hoda: "Hahaha good girl!"

So here you are, Hoda, the flip-flops you were somehow a part of purchasing. This is Addison St. in Berkeley, with the poetry plaques on the sidewalks. The cigarette is not mine, but the cherry Italian soda is (except it has cream in it, which technically makes it a French soda, who knew?), and I was aiming my camera at my feetS just as you texted this afternoon asking me to send you my address ASAP. Tooo much the goodness with the brainwaves! The bricks all say "Make Art," by the way. Throwing in a little Arabic makes everything awesome.

So! As you carry on with your rockstar adventures, my fellow Californian, may you find home wherever you go. And may you always have all that is good and beautiful and blessed, BETA ;)

Now, for the other important estuffS:

1. Take lotsa footoos!

2. Eat lotsa potatoes

3. Don't forget to stab esstyouuuupeeeed people

4. Reply to all my important STOCKER textmessages. And they will all be important.

As our friend, Mr. Malikshahzadaak, would say, "You will be thare tomaro? I think now we chat daily!"

I'm terribly addicting to texting. Which i think is a safe things to be addicted to these days, considering everyone else is also. But getting cute text messages like this one totally makes my day :)

Today was actually pretty great. I got to hang out w/ my good friend Aj and we saw "The Lovely Bones", which was actually pretty good.

I hope everyone had a great day today.

Talk to you tomorrow.

a walk through Montreal... can't help but wonder what she was texting that made her brow furrow like that. maybe she was concerned about the creepy photographer taking her picture :)

I don't want everything to change.

got up late again, still no milk, still having a headache.

I took photos for the book and edited them and I can't remember doing anything else today. but I just jumped on the trampoline for half an hour, so I wasn't only lazy.

Here's a before and after to see how I process my images in my recent series. (Yes, they're all shot in daylight.)

Also, I've finally get around to watching Chef's Table on Netflix and I've chastised myself as to why I haven't watch it any sooner!!

Binge watched the first season in one sitting (though it's only 6 episodes) and ended up wanting to be a restauranteur/chef. Loll

Remember my medical examiner dream stint while I was reading books about forensic science? It's the same thing.

Theme of The Week - Out with the Old, In with the New

On Friday Karen and Julia went up to the lake while I was at work. The dogs were unable to come with as they were picking up Daniel after a week of camp along the way. I did pick them up after I finished work and drove all three with me to the cabin in the evening.

When Aggie is left unsupervised in the bedroom she does like to renovate the place. Fortunately that just means rolling around in the sheets on the king sized bed and making it into a customized nest.

This girl is spoiled. But even I have to admit that the iPhone may be over the top. Not sure how she types so well with those paws, but you do have to respect her talents.

A larger version of her lounging in the rearranegd bed is linked in the comments.

What do you think he is reading on the phone?

- a text message sent from God?

- the US presidential election result?

- his bank account balance?

What do you think?

Sent an old fashioned textmessage to my wife since I had to leave home for work darn early today.

The text is on the back, stating that the brewer is loaded an o/n oats ready in the fridge.

Better than the modern version for sure.

Happy wife, happy life.

I was at this exact spot a couple of weeks ago trying to photography the waves splashing against these rocks. However, this time the water was calm and taking photos of amazing clouds. That is the great thing about photographing seaside, it changes so much with the tides and weather.

You could say this is from the archives, as I shot this two weeks ago, but I am actually still processing these shots. I took so many that I am nowhere near finished, which is good, I still haven't got my 40D back. Well, the dude said it'll take 10-15 business days to fix it, but I still hoped they would be a bit quicker like with my lens, which I got back after 2 days. And then they also said 10-15 business days...

Anyway, I shot this 20 minutes before sunrise while waiting for Michael, not knowing if he got my e-mail(s) and textmessage with directions or not.
