...........from fractiousness to total abandonement in a minute, how can children be so much hard work and then become so wonderful to behold...........

Bella, cautiously testing the chair only days after I adopted her. The chair had been empty for a few months, Bella needed a new home & I needed a cat. Now, she “knows” the chair belongs to her, though I’m usually allowed to share it!

Testing out something a little more artistic for a Milky Way shot, choosing selective colors for what I think are the interesting aspects of a given MW shot. For this shot I thought the intense green airglow and new spring vegetation growth combined with the aurora from the Memorial Day weekend storm were "highlights" of the shot. I also decided to selectively color the Rho Ophiuchi complex, North American Nebula, and Sadr region. Thoughts?

Test shot of the sun with my new solar filter that I got so I may try a shot of the solar eclipse on Aug 21. Works very well!

Bought her a new dress for the summer. She had to put it on to test if it was a "real one". Meaning if it could twirl.

Lens stress test shot taken at sunset from my front door. It’s not bad, considering there was little light I so was shooting at ISO stupid at way too slow a shutter speed for 300mm…

I’ve needed a landscape telezoom for ages, as I only have a wildlife bazooka that is too heavy. 100-400mm and 70-200mm f2.8 zooms are too heavy and expensive for landscape, but the 70-300mm options for Sony were mediocre. So when Tamron launched the 50-300mm lens with VC I jumped on it. The cost, versatility, light weight and decent image quality make it a winner for me.

change of tack , just bought a MF VIVITAR series1 70-210 mm lens ,they were supposedly among the best lenses back in the day .. it arrived next day delivery not bad for a £24 purchase and I set it up on my EM1X with focus peaking etc.TBH im extremely pleased with the results so far heres a sample and its definetly a keeper

I wanted to see how this background looked before taking a group photo.

Have a great day.

I often get a kick out of Flickr's tags. Apparently it thinks it snowed inside; flunks the Rorschach test. :-)

first printing of Helium for the Periodic Table project. I'm not happy with all the white space, so I think I'll do a very pale solid blue background layer, then put pale grey clouds and a bright red balloon. Might also try to paint a bit of yellow or orange onto the sun to make it more firey. Lots to try anyway.

Testing what may be my new camera once my back is sufficiently recovered to carry a backpack again, hopefully in the new year. As you would expect, I’ve carried out a rigorous, highly scientific test:

1. Can I carry it? Yes, all the way to the garden, no problem at all.

2. Does it fit in my pack? Probably. It’s around here somewhere.

3. Will it focus close enough to photograph a small pile of frosty leaves? Yes.

4. Are said leaves sharp? I should say so.

5. Will it photograph other stuff? I don’t see why not.

6. Have I comprehensively compared it to other cameras? Not really. I like this one.

7. Was it an impulse Black Friday buy? Maybe. I don’t see what that’s got to do with it.

8. Have you told the wife? No need. She can’t tell it apart from the old one.

9. So that’s that then? Yep. Proper job.

Two more from that test roll developed in Pyrocat.

Hopefully today I’ll try developing a roll shot in the Pentax 6x7. I loaded the roll a while ago and did not mark the camera with the film type. There was a 720 nm filter for infrared film on the lens so I assumed there was IR film loaded… NOPE!

Ilford HP-5 … now I am still trying to figure out how to properly meter IR I have been metering through the filter. So today I’ll have a lovely surprise or a reminder of the consequences of a feeble memory. All in all it will be a learning exercise, so no matter what happens it will be ok!

Took Thomas Bach for a test run with the coaches this afternoon.

I went out a couple weeks ago at the peak of leaf peeping season to take advantage of all the incredible colors. As usual I took a quick "throw away" shot just to test my settings. I knew this wouldn't be a keeper because it is such a cliche and I assumed I'd need to adjust my settings to account for the dark, rainy morning light. After a couple 100 shots, it turned out that this was one of my favorites.
