Also in the Solihull Shopping Centre, Tesla cars were displaying their latest Model S, though I think those kids should save up for the model in 10 years time if they want to drive one legally!
The Tesla Model S is being marked as one of the world's first electric executive/sports cars. Designed by Franz von Holzhausen, and powered by a 416hp Three-Phase induction motor, the Tesla Model S combines sweet efficiency and environmental consideration, with a top of the range, fully equipped interior, including Bluetooth Stereos, Electric Windows, Leather Seats, Wood Trim, all the luxuries of a comparable Mercedes or BMW.
The world of electric cars has come a long way since the days of the horrendously bad Gee-Whizz and its complete lack of safety, space, efficiency, speed, comfort, reliability and range. The Model S has a range of 265 miles, although it is argued this has been somewhat capped by the company. The car is incredibly safe too, gaining 5* results across the Euro NCAP safety rating. It's also sublimely styled, looking very modern and sleek. However, at £50,000 it's somewhat pricey, especially when you can get a comparable Nissan Leaf with just as much practicality for around £15 to £20,000.
Overall though, the Model S is a promising car, and a clear sign that the concept of the electric auto isn't just a flash in the pan or dead-end technology.

I'm sure Mattels money would have been better spent not duplicating castings between the HW and MBX brands but here we have the Hot Wheels Tesla Model S which looks like a caricature of the real vehicle and is most certainly inferior to the Matchbox version. What it does have on its side is great tampo detailing to both ends and plain realistic paint colours. This one came in U.S. long card packaging although it was actually bought from Morrisons. Mint and boxed.
Overt brand favouritism at Mattel ensures that the inferior Hot Wheels version of the Tesla Model S gets far more recolours than the more obviously stock Matchbox equivalent meaning back in 2016 you could find a choice of different colours such as this dark metallic grey one. The casting itself isn't completely devoid of merit with its wise choice of colours and a generous helping of tampo treatment which probably explains why I still buy them. Bought from ASDA back in June 2016. Mint and boxed.
