South Harris isle, Outer Hebrides and its unique, ragged charm. This is a place for those who travel in search of uniqueness, solitude, remoteness, untamed landscape.

Un petit montage que j'avais fait il y a quelques temps mais que je n'avais pas publié (je ne sais pas pourquoi).

This atmospheric shot was taken yesterday morning. I loved the backlight on the grasses in the foreground.

Rocky terrain along one of the trails at Mississippi Palisades State Park. On the day of this trek temps were in the upper 40s but some snow and ice remained in the shadowed areas. Five exposure HDR processed with Nik HDR Efex Pro 4

• Kratié (Cambodia) - A few kilometers from the center of the pleasant town of Kratié, along the Mekong, you reach the floating village. I have already had occasion to say that this term "floating village" was abusive; only intended to attract tourists. In reality the village is made up of wooden houses, built on the main land. The floating cabins that are off-field are only intended for fishing.

The houses, partially on stilts because they cling to the hill, are behind me, about ten meters higher. I went down to the river bed at low tide. When the water has receded, it gives way to a muddy expanse that serves as a playground for children. A few minutes before I took this photo, the kids were playing football.

There are several bizarre geological formations spreading over a mile or so (0.85 mile / 1.36 km) near the village Mikrovalto, Kozanē County, west Macedonia, Greece. It took the formations thousands of years to be created mainly by corrosion of the surrounding ground, according to geology experts. Every single formation resembles a chimney (colloquially aka “boucharí”), so the entire area or geological park has got the toponym “Bouchária” (plural form of the bouchari word).

The formations look like pillars or columns with a height of 7–20 ft (2-6 m) approximately. They consist of a mixture of sand and clay etc. adhered together by ferrous oxides and silicon dioxide. There are slates (or slabs of schist) capping the high pillars.

Within the same park there are also “nochtária,” looking like numerous confluent pyramids. The nochtaria lack schist caps, but otherwise their composition is the same as the Boucharia's.

Warning: The phallus-shaped Bouchtaria have long been associated with the occult and several superstitions discouraging the local inhabitants from approaching them at night; tradition has it that the formations are fairies' or even demons' quarters or dwellings! Please mind your steps whilst walking the well-worn path!

Some parts of the terrain in Joshua Tree National Park have trees other than the famed Joshua Trees.

Happy Tree-mendous Tuesday!

ARCHES NATIONAL PARK, UTAH USA

Through its' rugged terrain and endless natural wilderness, Arches National Park is without doubt, a pretty and spectacular part of Southeastern Utah.

With monumental rock faces and natural vegetation, or lack of it, in some parts, hiking these desolate beauties is something worthwhile.

A very photogenic and rewarding natural landscape to visit and enjoy.

The Utah Badlands make you feel like you are on a different planet. Until you look closely and see the squiggly lines, like someone dropped giant hair and then you realize those are the tracks made by ATV's. Both the miniscule nature of humans as well as the catastrophic impact they leave on the terrain depicted at the same time. For now lets ignore the negative, and focus on the positive light. Have a wonderful weekend.
