These termites are freakin' nuts. There's thousands of these things.

I had heard that termite mounds are quite common in Central Australia, but like the Red Kangaroos, we didn't see any except at the Desert Park. This "termiteria" was only about 1 metre (3.2') high, but I've read of some up to 6 metres (20') high. A really large termite mound might take up to 50 years to complete!

I think this was a little joke the zoo was playing on us.

Some of it is from me picking at it. I knew they were there and kept trying to treat it by injecting termite preventive stuff into the holes. But, I think I made too many holes to begin with, so it didn't get where it needed to go. That has worked for me before, but not this time. They got into the cross pieces and then every board attached to the fence. At least the fence wasn't touching the house and even if it was, the siding is concrete there.
