Another day and another preserved steam railway, this time the West Somerset Railway as I decided to escape loud building work by our neighbours.
I was trying to get a shot of the fireman at work, when another gentleman stood right in front of me just as I as about to shoot, so many jostling for a look, so just one of those things, a little bit of patience and then some luck, the fireman continued.

"Caratteristica della strada è il suo continuare: ogni route comporta un susseguirsi di tappe, di luogo in luogo, per un certo numero di giorni. È proprio questo ritmo che le dà la sua inconfondibile semplicità . Arrivare e partire, piantare la tenda e disfarla il giorno dopo, fermarsi a dormire per riprendere la strada: questo è un altro valore importante, che si vive nell'esperienza della strada."

I love Ranunculus, densely layered, and the blooms opened beautifully, not always evident, their stems are extremely delicate and do tend to just collapse before the bud can open into a gorgeous voluptuous flower...
I don't talk to flowers, they talk to me and I gladly listen! We are again so much in communication, LOL.
With love to you and thanK you for ALL your faves and comments, M, (* _ *)

I guess I tend to get distracted. Three more photos from my Kansas trip last September. Monument Rocks is super cool and legit in the middle of nowhere, but it was worth the three-hour drives there and back. This was also during the big Colorado wildfires, so the skies in center of the country were covered in a haze. No clouds, and simply a round disc of sun. My friend lamented that clouds would have made the shots better, but I think, hey, this is life on Earth. Sometimes things catch on fire.

All of a sudden, it became a Norfolk & Western Railway event in 2012 at the old Southern shops in Spencer, North Carolina. Crews placed Norfolk Southern ES44AC #8103 alongside two of their N&W museum pieces so that photographr's cuold get their shots.
NW 522 us an EMD GP30 locomotive built for the Norfolk & Western Railway in 1962. It was in town for the heritage units get together.
Norfolk & Western Railway #620 is an EMD GP9 built for N&W in 1958. It was retired by Norfolk Southern in 1985 and donated to the North Carolina Transportation Museum. It was painted by NCTM into this passenger diesel scheme although in 2018 it went back into basic N&W black. It tends to get a lot of use as it is favored by museum crews.
I was driving early in the morning before sunrise on the road from Varanasi to Bodh Gaya and at a few miles before the border of Bihar I saw a little akhara lost in the fields near Sakalhida, a village in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.
An akhara is a place where Indian wrestlers practice their training (gymnasia).
"Although the majority of wrestlers tend to be in their early to mid-teens, the term pahalwan designates an identity that is by no means limited to the teenage wrestler.
In fact, the term pahalwan includes men who were disciplined wrestlers in their youth and who, as married adults, continue to subscribe to the ideals, if not the strict regimen, of a wrestling way of life.
These men are employed, support families, and are integrated members of their communities in every sense.
However, their whole identity derives from the complex discipline of wrestling exercise and values.
A wrestling identity, then, is not restricted to the context of an akhara; it is an attitude toward life in general."
