Most pups tend to sleep off a rather large meal. This grey seal pup was very lively and a complete cutey... lots of engagement with the camera.

Donna Nook is a wonderful place to visit on the Lincolnshire coast. There tends to be a really biting cold wind coming in from the sea but you forget all that with the wonders of what is on that beach. My friend and I witnessed a birth and..... unfortunately lots of fighting between naturally protective mothers protecting their pups and males wanting their pick of who to mate with. Then of course there are the numerous pups who, when awake, will grace your camera with some lovely images.

I tend to put in many miles a day when out and about. Subsequently I'm often at a beautiful place when the sun is in an undesired position, like here. The Sun is the boss, as we know. But I click away anyway.....

I try my best in pp to bring back the essence and beauty I remember, not overblown with details lost in the shadows. A good challenge. I thought this special moment and scene was worth a share.

Thanks for taking a look! Always appreciated.

Rouen (France) - Photo taken on March 7, 2023, during the national day of action against pension reform. Another important demonstration which took place in calm and good humor. Witness this CGT trade unionist who strolls quietly to an accordion tune. The International on the accordion, I had never heard it before. I would like to hear what this revolutionary hymn to the djembe gives ?

Have a superb weekend, friends

“People tend to be generous when sharing their nonsense, fear, and ignorance. And while they seem quite eager to feed you their negativity, please remember that sometimes the diet we need to be on is a spiritual and emotional one. Be cautious with what you feed your mind and soul. Fuel yourself with positivity and let that fuel propel you into positive action.”

The third shot I took of the low winter sun rising!

As November turns into December the early mornings can be masked in mist, bright and clear like this, or most often grey and dull. So I tend to grab the chance of the bright photogenic mornings to shoot as much as I can ... to take me through the dull wet mornings 😊

My apologies - but this one seemed perfect for the Saturday Smile challenge of "sunrise". The previous 2 are in the first comment field

HMM!! i tend to disagree with Toni on this subject. Sharing with others is vital, because otherwise, so much beauty would be overlooked by so many.

Looks like the bird is trying to contend with a big seed. If I'm not mistaken, they tend to go for smaller seeds due to their small beak and mouth.

Mostly bald cypress trees which tend to shed early. We had our first and maybe only snow here this week which kind of surprised everyone. Weather had been really mild up until recently.

A semi-aquatic mammal native to south and southeast Asia. These otters have sensitive and dexterous front paws which help them locate their prey when they dig around in the mud. Their diet consist primary of crabs, molluscs, frogs and crustaceans. They tend to live in pairs and can form family groups of up to 2 individuals and are the smallest species of otter in the word. Unfortunately they are listed on the IUCN Red List due to habitat loss, pollution and hunting.

The light shines through the window onto the mantelpiece. It's a gentle light and it slowly warms up its surroundings. Ages ago the old farm house was in full bloom and there were sounds of horses and people tending them. It was a happy place but at the same time it was a harsh and hard place. Its still the same light that shines through the window but the people and horses are now gone. When you look through the window you feel like you looking into the past. You can imagine what they saw and what they felt, ages ago while tending to their chores. It's a window from the past.

Juvenile Bald Eagle

It's an Enoplognatha ovata spider, aka a candy-striped spider, that was so tiny that it was hard to see. Indeed, according to Wikipedia, it's body size is less than 1/4 inch long. It has "translucent legs and the globular abdomen is extremely variable in color and pattern." This one didn't have the red "candy stripes" that some have.

Here is an adult bald eagle, the female I believe, tending to her hatch in her nest near us. I have probably said this many times. If, as a Boy Scout in the 1960s and having never seen a bald eagle, someone told me that I would have a nesting pair within a few miles of my house as an older man, I would have thought you crazy. Also known as a Sand Martin, this is a very rare visitor to our Southern state though more common in North India where they winter after migrating from the Pale Arctic region. They have a wide spread across much of Europe, Asia and even North America.

The birds are pretty small - maybe 12-14 cms and have a slow erratic flight path. They tend to catch the insects in flight making them pretty hard to shoot in flight. Two birds came to a city lake, I was lucky to have spotted them close. I sat on the ground trying to shoot some birds and this one came close by giving this wonderful opportunity. The birds are solo fliers unlike other swallows like the Barn Swallow or Streak Throated Swallow which fly in small groups. The Bank swallow joined others species, but it was flying alone with no other members of its species around.

Photographers tend not to photograph what they can’t see, which is the very reason one should try to attempt it. Otherwise we’re going to go on forever just photographing more faces and more rooms and more places. Photography has to transcend description. It has to go beyond description to bring insight into the subject, or reveal the subject, not as it looks, but how does it feel?

Duane Michals

Yesterday I went out with fellow photographer Greg Cashmore to lend hand on a workshop he was doing down in Cornwall. We left Plymouth at 6:30am and started our grand tour of the Southern coast. Our first stop was Roche Rock, in the village of Roche. I'd never been here before but I had heard of it. We got there just as the sun was rising and after setting up our cameras we were hit by a big hail shower. This shot was taken minutes before the hail hit, with the rising sun lighting up the rock.

There are several legends attached to this rather spectacular granite outcrop most notably that of Jan Tregeagle, the tortured sinner who tried to find refuge in the chapel here when being chased by demons.

The 15th century chapel on the Roche Rock is said to have been built by a hermit as a cell. The identity of the hermit is not certain but some say he was a shunned leper from the Tregarnick family, whose daughter, St Gundred tended to him.

The chapel is accessible, but only by a steep ladder. Inside it is split into two levels by a further ladder.

Woodcock Lake Dam, Crawford County, PA. I found this encounter both fascinating and disheartening. The sounds of the begging fledgling cowbird alerted me to a pair of adult Eastern Phoebes that were busily attending to its needs. There were no signs of any fledgling phoebes. Cowbirds parasitize the nests of other birds, often resulting in the failure to host parents to successfully raise their own young. These rather harried phoebes were heroically tending to a fledgling that was almost as big as them! Thanks for looking and any comments or feedback.
