Leaves are starting to fall, but this vine climbing on the branch of another plant refuses to budge

I saw these trees all over the desert southwest... trees with no visible sign of water or life support... clinging... holding on... and surviving.

Good girls.

A tiny flower emerges resolutely as the depths of winter snow recede into spring at the foot of Mount Kazbegi, one of Georgia's highest mountains and a major landmark along the infamous Georgian Military Road.

Georgia's recent war with Russia over the breakaway territories of South Ossetia and Abkhazia thrust the tiny country into the international spotlight as yet another former Soviet Republic rife with conflict and political tension. Despite the war and the very real threat of further conflict boiling just under the surface, the Georgians I met were incredibly hospitable and opened their hearts and homes to me. This flower is a symbol of the fierce pride, strength and tenacity of the Georgian people, who have retained fascinating cultural and religious traditions throughout centuries of invasions.

Canada Goose on Toronto rooftop. Clearly those ominous anti-bird spikes didn’t dissuade this beauty.
