These yellow flag iris grow all along the shore, barely hanging on in low water years, thriving in rainy summers. How they survive the icey winters is amazing, with shallow roots in bits of clay between loose stones.
The tankship British Tenacity (IMO: 9285706) registered in the UK, length 183m, beam 32m, draft 8.2m.
It is amazing that a tree this large, can hang on to rock that big, and still grow, and hold it's own.
Since moving into my house 5 years ago, there has been one tree in my backyard that has constantly surprised me with its tenacity. If you look at the trunk of the tree you would think that there could be no possible way that this tree is alive, yet every year for the past five years, when spring comes, the tree buds and leaves grow.
I spotted these ferns growing in the smallest crack possible. The wonderful tenacity of nature!
