A street cornet in Temple, TX.

Always so peaceful in the mornings. Guess that's why I like morning shots. Small town are kinda nice as well. A car was coming up the street as I was getting ready to take the shot and he stopped so he wouldn't mess up the shot. I couldn't believe it

Luckily, we had some rain today. Maybe the deer will leave my plants alone..;)

The original railway express. Can you imagine..;) Went on a great hike today, followed by lunch with friends and live music. For a while I was afraid it was going to get too hot, but it didn't and the day was perfect. This is from the train museum in Temple, Texas

Amtrak Train station in Temple, Texas. I'm still learning the new cutout feature in Photoshop. I can see how it's better, but there is a learning curve..;) For the history fans, here's more info.

The first depot in Temple was in a boxcar. Later a two story depot was built. In 1898 a Harvey House was built next to the depot. The current station was opened on January 29, 1911.

In 1995, the city of Temple bought 8.5 acres of land around the station and the Santa Fe Railroad donated the building. In 1999, restoration work began on the depot and it was reopened on June 8, 2000

HBM!!

I had to go to Temple last week because they have a Veterans hospital there. So, to beat Austin traffic, I got up early and drove up there and just killed time taking pictures. Temples not a huge town..:) but this was a pretty cool find

Have a great week

This is from the railroad museum in Temple, Texas. It's an old handcar used by the railroad workers to check and make repairs on the tracks in the early 1900's.

I took a friend of mine over to Temple, Texas which, is about 75 miles north of Austin, for an outpatient surgery. And while I was waiting for my I drove around town and spotted this Railroad and Heritage Museum. There were lots of interesting thing to see and shoot..:) Here's more info if you interested

Completed in 1911, the historic Santa Fe Depot houses the Temple Railroad and Heritage Museum and a working Amtrak Station. The Temple, Texas museum explores the history of the railroad and topics relating to local and regional history. The museum also regularly hosts changing temporary exhibits and educational programming. The museum’s collection of railroad equipment is displayed on the grounds, including three locomotives, railroad passenger cars, and cabooses on static display. Restoration work on this rolling stock collection is ongoing. The Santa Fe Depot is located next to an active railroad yard, where railfans can observe daily operations and traffic of the BNSF and Amtrak.

When I went to Temple the other day, I got there a little early for my appointment. Of course I took my camera with me. And, as I was driving around I saw this on the corner and had to stop..:) This lady walked past me while I was kneeling down to take the pic and she just smiled. I don't really know the story behind the train. I probaly should have asked her. Missed my chance..)

Have a great week

HBM!!

I had to go to the Veterans hospital in Temple again. It's over a hundred miles from my house or about an hour and a half drive and I had an 8am appointment. So, I left early because I didn't want to get caught up in early morning traffic. Since I was early, I started looking around for benches..;) Drove by this one and pulled over for a shot.

I had the appointment so they could schedule me for an appointment to biopsy my prostate. I asked if I needed to bring someone with me to drive me home. The doctor says, It's no big deal. I googled it and the Internet says it hurts like hell.

It was an ugly day but I needed a fence shot..;)

Hope everyone is well. TGIF..;)

Here we are, moving into another week. The sky was thanks to the Sahara dust. Hard to believe it can travel that thick from so far away. Crazy. Anyway, this is an old train station that was turned into a museum.

The strangest thing. Flickr sent me an email offering 20% as a birthday present. What's strange is my birthday is in July. I wonder if people are pulling out because of the changes that have been made

Happy Week Everyone

I made this image of Santa Fe B23-7 from aboard Amtrak's Texas Eagle as it made its station stop in Temple, Texas. No. 6359 is working on the yard at Temple and like Amtrak Train No. 22 will soon be heading out of town although in the opposite direction. (Scanned from a slide)

Re-enactment of the Pearl Harbor attack by the Commemorative Air Force. They brought all the pyrotechnics for the background smoke and explosions. All the planes used were BT-13's, BT-15's and T-6's converted into these Japanese aircraft. Most of these aircraft were used in the recent movie "Pearl Harbor."

Our first time eating at Hat Creek Burger Company was enjoyed by all. Burgers were impressive (best we've had in a while), milkshakes were delicious, and the outdoor playground was a screaming tornado of fun for the children.

I did not, however, appreciate the styrofoam cups (as pictured here). I think fast food and fast casual restaurants need to get together and solve the whole "single-use cup" problem. They can start with (1) never ordering stryrofoam cups again, and (2) work from there.

The RV series "Kit Aircraft" come from Vans Aircraft located at Aurora State Airport, Oregon U.S.A. It was a very windy day when these birds were flying. They were heavely buffeted by the wind.

Not sure, but I bet the red lights in the eyes are connected to the brake lights.
