Fire glass is tempered glass specifically made for fire features like gas fireplaces and gas fire pits. These small, granular chunks — which arrive sifted, tumbled, and cleaned — withstand significant stresses and temperatures. Whereas regular glass melts, explodes, smokes, and collects soot.
From Denver Botanic Gardens website: It might be hard to believe that this spectacular solarium struggled to find a home. In the late 1990s, Euro Disney S.C.A. commissioned the solarium and seven others, then canceled the order for unknown reasons. This solarium remained in its packing crate for nearly 20 years before it was generously donated to the Gardens in 2012.
The wrought-iron solarium is designed in a Victorian style, with tempered glass windows, elaborate scrollwork and a powder-coated finish. Five of the seven other solariums are identical to this one; this is the only one known to be on public display.

Above my layout is a custom built display case which I designed to show my models. The case is approx 50 inches long X 32 inches high X 5 inches deep made of 3/4 inch solid oak. The case has adjustable 3/8 inch tempered glass shelves and 1/4 inch tempered glass sliding roller bearing doors in an aluminum track. The case holds approximately 45 diesels depending upon their size. The case is not large enough to hold all of my diesels so I rotate them in and out as the occasion arise.
or: why you can't reuse the tempered glass screen protector for your phone - even though it's not cracked - no matter how much you've tried to clean it.

I had forgotten my dining room table was tempered glass (it's had protective - read child paint proof - coverings on it for 3 years now) but it was perfect to stick a flexible light under and up-light some cutlery.
Sorry Rob, no shallow dof for me! :)

Another excellent example of how different spaces within housing developments are abstracted can be observed here. Modern buildings often integrate elements like air conditioners, while more residential models do not distribute costs to have centralized air; the more individual, the more objects outside the buildings. Tempered glass, though somewhat fragile compared to cement and blocks, is more visually striking, presenting a commanding presence to potential customers and those who have already provided income to these large companies. All maintenance is paid for and shared, thanks to the laws and norms of horizontal property. The image is presented in Black and White out of personal preference, but the colors of the glass building are like a metallic blue with silver.

Used some of the glass from my patio table that blew over and smashed last summer in a thunder storm. farm4.static.flickr.com/3090/2727046460_d2a906fa18.jpg?v=0
I added some beads which made a nicer transition from the centre to the glass.

Wedi board, stained glass, vitreous tile, fused glass, beads, glass rod, tempered glass, acrylic paint, air dry clay, microbeads 12inx12in
I put everything on this window that I had laying around, doing nothing, old polymer clay swirlies, beads, jewelry I made that didn't sell, seed beads, tons of seed beads to create strangely shaped areas or fill gaps as grout, and I used Gallery Glass paints to create the surface, color and bond for the tempered glass pieces.
I call this item: "Everything is in it"
That pretty much sums it up.
The frame will still be slightly sanded down and touched up with a paint as if it has been old and painted many times and the paint chipped off. I am a Master of Chippy Things. I have done a bunch of those. Ha, I even amaze myself sometimes, because I already love this thing, and I am soooooo full of myself. Hehehehehehehehehe.
