The Minitel, a consumer screen-keyboard terminal, widely distributed in France, was for almost three decades (1980-2012) the only commercial success of the Videotex alpha-numeric standard.
Specified by CNET (the Bell Labs alter ego) and promoted by France-Telecom, it was distributed free of charge to all French homes with a telephone line.
As soon as they were launched, in addition to the electronic directory, many services quickly found their audience, including the famous "pink message services" providing a significant financial windfall to the operators who put them online.
This massive distribution of terminals in homes marked the rise of Telematics (alliance of Telecommunications and Computers) and prepared users for the future development of the Internet.

For the 2020 model year, Ford released a second-generation Police Interceptor Utility, derived from the sixth-generation Explorer. Offered exclusively in a permanent all-wheel drive configuration, it now rides on Ford's all-new rear wheel drive based CD6 platform. The second generation FPIU does not have a sedan counterpart, as the Ford Police Interceptor Sedan was discontinued in 2019.
Many of the same Utility-specific standard features were carried over from the first generation version. For the first time, the FPIU was offered in a hybrid drivetrain configuration. Bluetooth is now standard as is a 250 amp alternator, Ford Telematics, and dual zone front temperature control. A 12.1 inch center stack display is now optional, and the optional perimeter alarm has been advanced. The second generation FPIU gains cargo space (even with hybrid batteries on board) over its predecessor.
The second generation FPIU was offered with three all-new engine choices: a twin-turbocharged 3.0L EcoBoost V6 making 400 hp (300 kW; 410 PS) and 415 lb⋅ft (563 N⋅m) of torque, a 3.3L Hybrid V6 making 318 hp (237 kW; 322 PS) and 332 lb⋅ft (450 N⋅m) of torque, and a naturally aspirated 3.3 L V6 engine making 285 hp (213 kW; 289 PS) and 260 lb⋅ft (350 N⋅m) of torque, the latter of which is unavailable on the retail Ford Explorer. All iterations of the second generation FPIU use a 10-speed automatic transmission. FTe 3.0L EcoBoost V6 Utility is currently the quickest police vehicle for sale, beating out all of its competitors in Michigan State Police testing with a 0 to 60 mph (0 to 97 km/h) time of 5.5 seconds and a top speed of 148 mph (238 km/h).

The new vehicles are up to a high specification boasting free WiFi provided by Cradlepoint, high back Esteban Civic V3 e-leather seating, Mobitech passenger information system with 'Next Stop' announcements, Actia Telematics technology and are up to Euro 5 emission standards featuring the 4 cylinder Mercedes-Benz OM904LA engine with the five speed Allison 2100 transmission.
A start appears to be made on fitting Greenroad telematics to the new Volvo BZLs - hence the open flap. These vehicles are also fitted with the ultra HD blinds, although Saracens Shuttle would appear more appropriate for a location well out of East London......
The Moon is staring down
Upon our ridiculous lives
Judging while she chews the cud,
The passive Anger of the Bull
Abiding in serenity of Midnights Cave
and Noon in the Spring Vale chorus
Among the budding branches
Luring them forth, He measures Air
In untouchable Birch Bark Ghosts
from a blue freedom we cannot reach
The ponderous Bull , each day penetrates waters
Walking through rippling truth untold
laying down the fields with ornate wisdom
Knowing Not Knowing, not young not old
Thats you up there in the spinning mirror
A silver orb, anvil made
by moths, spiders and Proportion
Our time travels recklessly with us
With or without caution.

I spotted this unusual Toyota today and according to Wiki it must be at least nine years old which is odd because it certainly doesn`t look it ?
The following is from Wiki:-
The WiLL brand was a marketing approach shared by a small group of Japanese companies who decided to offer products and services that focused on a younger demographic from August 1999 until July 2004 in Japan. The companies that participated were the Kao Corporation (a manufacturer of personal hygiene, household detergents, and cosmetics), Toyota, Asahi Breweries, Panasonic, Kinki Nippon Tourist Company, Ltd, Ezaki Glico Candy, and Kokuyo Co., Ltd. (an office furniture and stationery manufacturer). Toyota also engaged in a similar "youth oriented" approach in North America, with the Project Genesis program. This selective marketing experiment reflected a Japanese engineering philosophy called Kansei engineering, which was used by other Japanese companies.
The WiLL VC, later WiLL Cypha was produced from 2002 to 2005. It shared many of its mechanicals, including the 1.3-litre 2NZ and 1.5-litre 1NZ engines, with the Ist. Its styling developed themes seen in the Vitz/Yaris, but has a more angular look, a continuation of the short-lived WiLL Vi. Notable features are the rear lights placed level with the rear window, giving a look of the Renault Megane II, and the distinctive headlights which have four lamps per side arranged vertically. The interior used a rounded theme, with items such as the door pulls and the central console being circular. All Will VC' and WiLL Cyphas were manufactured by Central Motors at its "Headquarters plant" located at Ohira, Miyagi, Japan.
The Cypha (the words "cyber" and "phaeton" combined) was one of the first Toyota vehicles to be installed with their vehicle telematics system called G-Book. The vehicle was also promoted with a sales approach called "pay as you go" meaning that you were given the option not to buy the car with monthly payments, but to instead lease the car, and only pay a monthly bill based on how far you drove in a month. When the driver no longer wanted the vehicle, they returned the car to the Toyota dealership.

SPIERS & HARTWELL CONFIRMS ITS 2019 ORDER OF 12 SCANIA VEHICLES WITH KELTRUCK
Spiers & Hartwell has confirmed its 2019 order with Keltruck, choosing 11 Scania S 500 6x2 tractor units and one flagship S 730 to join its all Scania fleet.
The New Generation Scania vehicles will be delivered throughout the course of 2019, with one vehicle arriving every month, and will help achieve the company’s plan of replacing all previous generation vehicles in its 50-strong Scania fleet.
Spiers & Hartwell is one of Keltruck’s longest standing customers with the relationship starting in 1983 when the company already operated the Scania LB110 model and began purchasing new Scania 2-series vehicles.
Adrian Lake, Operations Manager at Spiers & Hartwell, says: “The New Generation Scania vehicles offer everything that the drivers want - extra storage and a comfortable bed – and having shiny new trucks definitely makes a difference to the employees. Want to see how much our drivers care about their vehicles? Take a look at the wash at 3am in a morning, you’ll see them all lined up about to be washed so that they can take a picture of it and put it on their social media.”
Since using the New Generation S 500’s delivered in 2018, Spiers & Hartwell has experienced improved fuel efficiency with an average increase of 12 percent across the fleet.
Adrian adds: “We achieve 9.5mpg with the new vehicles, we were getting 8-8.5mpg with the previous generation. As you can imagine, with a fleet of 50 trucks this can quickly add up. We have a long-term partnership with Scania. Some companies may think that using one company for everything – vehicles, telematics, driver training, repair and maintenance – is a risk, but for us it’s a comfort knowing that everything is being taken care of by Scania and makes it simpler for us. ”
All the new vehicles have three years Repair & Maintenance contracts and will be serviced at Keltruck Droitwich, along with the other Scania’s on the fleet.
The Houston Rockets are showing the basketball world that a big man in the middle is not required to compete. As long as the guards and forwards continue to drain threes and score off the dribble, then "small ball" will work in their favor. In another significant Texas town, Kia adopted the same game plan for the national press introduction of the 2021 adventure-ready Seltos, which is the polar opposite of the larger, distinguished Telluride. Being that the Korean automaker is the transportation face of the NBA, the meshing of the two philosophies works well.

A-Grade Driving Boosts GLW Feeds’ Sustainability
GLW Feeds driver, Colin Langley, was brought to our attention recently having scored consistent ‘A-Grade’ driver scores in his Scania S500 tractor unit (S500A6X2NA), sold last year by Keltruck Account Manager Ivor Morris.
Colin has worked for GLW Feeds for 18 years, originally working on presses, producing food at Burton on Trent before moving into driving for the firm in which he is on his 15th year as a professional HGV driver. Colin is now on his second Scania, the mighty S500. Colin commented, “Since having this Scania S500 I have never looked back. It is totally different to the previous model in terms of ride, comfort and visibility.”
Colin has been an advocate of the Scania Connected Services system and is constantly monitoring his own driver scores on the dedicated app on his smartphone which is feeding back vital information of his anticipation, coasting, MPG and idle time which has enabled him to consistently achieve his high score on the system with his economic and safe driving style. Scania Connected Services have helped achieve this too.
When Colin received the vehicle and set himself up on the system he was assisted by Jenny Lambert at Scania Connected Services in selecting the optimum settings on the system for his vehicle based on running 38,000 kgs at 110,000 kms per year. Colin commended Jenny at Scania commenting, “She is brilliant and has been so helpful.” When Keltruck made contact with Jenny she confirmed that Colin was one of over 700 drivers she provides coaching services to and reported that out of all 700 drivers only 3 people scored straight grade A scores for the entire month, Colin being one of these 3 people. In addition, Colin was reported as being in the top 10% of drivers who Scania have registered on telematics and they presently have over 30,000 drivers so that was an incredible feat.
As a token of appreciation, Colin and Transport Manager, Neale Jones of GLW Feeds, were taken to the Scania (Great Britain) Limited training centre in Loughborough which boasts a large open-plan workshop, nine technology training rooms, two conference rooms and a large restaurant. The state-of-the-art facilities include cutting-edge vehicle technology and diagnostic equipment, an extensive selection of trucks, coaches, buses and units to work on and structured training and development programmes for all business requirements – all set in beautifully landscaped grounds.
At GLW Feeds the new S500 tractor units are operating 2 mpg above other vehicles in the fleet, helping influence the business decision to invest in 19 Next Generation Scania tractor units purchased from Keltruck Limited over the last 18 months. All vehicles are maintained at Keltruck Scania Burton on Trent which has the added benefit of also being an ATF facility, helping GLW Feeds in minimising downtime for servicing, inspections and MOT.
Scania Connected Services deliver everything from automated tachograph reporting to remote diagnostics and driver coaching. The system is uniquely easy to use, which means they’re used more often, in more detail, and to greater effect. On Scania vehicles registered after January 2011 Scania Connected Services is fully available without any additional hardware. The service can be activated remotely with no downtime, no wires and no fuss.
Founded in 1873, GLW Feeds are one of the largest independent, family-owned livestock and speciality feed manufacturers in the UK, concentrating in roll, nut, pellet and meal-form compound feeds.

Model SIENTA
Description NCP81 5DR A
Engine Capacity 1490
The first generation Sienta was introduced in 2003 in Japan. The car can also be found in Hong Kong, Indonesia and Singapore through parallel imports.
The Sienta received a facelift in 2006, 3 years after its first production. New colors were added, such as Apple Green, Gun-Metal Grey, and Metallic Blue. Another upgrade found on the facelifted models is double electric-powered sliding doors.
Powered by a 1.5 L petrol VVT-i engine capable of 110 bhp (82 kW) at 6,000 rpm, the Sienta comes equipped with CVT. ABS and EBD are standard.
For the 2007 model year on Japanese models only, G-BOOK, a subscription telematics service, is offered as an option.
Toyota cut the Sienta from the lineup in Autumn 2010 due to its age, despite it still selling quite well. It was reintroduced unchanged (except for renamed trim levels and a new sports model, Sienta DICE, with a different design) in May 2011.
The PacLease “Technology Demo” trucks – a Kenworth T680 and Peterbilt Model 579, feature Bendix equipped air disc brakes, which reduce stopping distance by more that 20 feet over today’s high performance drum brakes; an ESP electronic stability system for rollover and jackknife prevention; Wingman Advanced collision mitigation technology, which detects objects up to 500 feet in front of the truck and provides braking intervention if needed; BlindSpotter side object detection, which provides audible and visual alerts if there is a vehicle in the truck’s blind spot; AutoVue lane departure, which tracks lane markings while providing a “rumble strip” noise should the vehicle drift off course; and SmarTire tire pressure monitoring, which provides low pressure and high temperature tire alerts. The trucks also feature PacTrac – PacLease’s on-board telematics system, powered by PeopleNet.

The Mobileye anti-collision alert system is a driver assistance system integrated with telematics capabilities. Acting as an 'extra pair of eyes', the system alerts Bus Captains to vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists on the roads with visual and audible alerts, helping to reinforce safe driving behaviour and reducing the chance of accidents.
SBS Transit is a keen adopter of Mobileye, having trialled it in end-2014. The company will install Mobileye on more than 3,000 buses by end-2018, with the eventual goal of fleet-wide implementation.

Power?
600 kW and 1050 Nm of tractive force, spread among the four wheels. Power is directed to the road from the tractive eMotors. Power to the eMotors comes from the battery systems while in town, up to 140 kW, for zero emission driving. When it comes to untaxed power, the gas-turbine can produce up to 450 kW peak power, driving an electric generator, feeding direct to the Tractive eMotors, or charging the battery packs. The gas-turbine can also act as a range extender hybrid, the 100 litre tank providing a maximum range of 1,430 km in conjunction with the electric battery pack.
Silence.
When in all-electric mode the powertrain is near silent. In both electric and gas turbine modes, the powertrain produces almost no vibrations to the occupants within the cabin.
Emissions.
Although the burning of fossil fuels produces CO2, the Gas-Turbine combustion process decreases the production of Nitrogen compounds, Carbon Monoxide and other pollutants. On the US emission drive cycle, the car is rated at 92 eMPG equivalent.
These are the reasons the Ralston Tigre is known as the 'Road Jet'.
Comfort.
Luxury is Silence, Pace and Space. The fully appointed interior is equipped with luxury appointments including heated and cooled seats with massage function, electro-chromatic glass roof, and full Telematics and Communication. The full-sized Limousine body provides extended comfort for four passengers.
The Limousine, new for 2015 had a fully tailored rear cabin. Heated and cooled seats, massage function, fully reclined - respite from a busy world. The rear cabin is also a fully-integrated mobile office, capable of telecommuting on the move and performing conference calls.
And the performance speaks for itself.
Bearing the mark of the 'X', The Ralston Tigre - IV is not the first car to wear the hallowed Ralston coat-of-arms. Previous vehicles had been built in ultra-exclusive volumes for the Ralston family's private vehicles. Due for introduction in 2016, the Tigre will headline a new marque of low-volume exclusivity for the discerning client. The Coupe-Hardtop has been joined by other styles of vehicles of distinction, including the Limousine model shown here, sharing it's unique Gas-Turbine-Electric Hybrid powertrain.
Ralston Tigre - The Luxury Road Jet
This Lego miniland-scale Ralston Tigre MkIV Limousine (2016) has been created for Flickr LUGNuts' 95th Build Challenge, - "Designing the Ralston Legacy", - for the design of vehicles under the fictional 'Ralston' company. The models must include a 'X' design feature on the car or bike. A number of Ralston challenge vehicle concepts are possible in this challenge.
What is luxury?
Meeting all your needs without taxing your resources.
Power?
600 kW and 1050 Nm of tractive force, spread amoung the four wheels. Power is directed to the road from the tractive eMotors. Power to the eMotors comes from the battery systems while in town, up tp 140 kW, for zero emission driving.

The 2016 Chevrolet Malibu is fully newly designed. Chevrolet Malibu midsize sedan is provided in four main trim ranges: L, LS, LT and Premier. Note that the LT is technically separated into two sub-trims (1LT and 2LT), with the latter getting the 2.0 liter engine, the 8-speed automatic transmission and a few other features mentioned below.
The base 2016 Chevrolet Malibu L arrives standard with 16-inch steel wheels, key-less entry and ignition, cloth upholstery, tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, air-conditioning, cruise control, manual front-seat height adjusters, 60/40-split folding rear seat, Bluetooth phone connectivity, OnStar and six-speaker audio system.
The 2016 Chevrolet Malibu LS provides 16-inch alloy wheels, rear-view camera, 4G LTE connectivity with mobile WiFi, automatic headlights, Bluetooth streaming audio and the MyLink infotainment system with 7-inch touchscreen that consists of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration.
The 1LT gets 17-inch wheels, rear climate vents and satellite radio, eight-way power driver seat (with power lumbar), ambient interior lighting, heated mirrors, and also LED daytime running lights.
The 2LT is usually similar to the 1LT but contributes the powertrain update, 18-inch wheels, dual exhaust tips and larger fuel tank (15.8 gallons vs 13.0 for the 1.5T).
2016 Chevrolet Malibu Performance
All 2016 Chevrolet Malibu designs are FWD. The L, LS and 1LT trim levels appear standard with 6-speed automatic transmission and turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine ranked at 160 hp and 184 pound-feet of torque. Fuel economy is EPA-rated at 31 mpg merged (27 city/37 highway), boosted a little bit by a stop-start system that automatically turns off the engine when the car arrives to a halt.
Safety
The 2016 Chevrolet Malibu comes standard with antilock brakes, stability and traction control, front side airbags, front knee airbags, side curtain airbags and rear side airbags. Also standard is the OnStar telematics system, which includes automatic crash notification, on-demand roadside assistance, remote door unlocking and stolen vehicle assistance.
A rear-view camera is standard from the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu LS trim on up, and there are two sophisticated safety packages. The Driver Confidence program adds automatic high-beam headlight control, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitor, front and rear parking sensors, lane-departure warning and intervention, and forward collision warning system with low speed automatic braking. The Driver Confidence II package provides self-parking system, an electronic parking brake, adaptive cruise control and enhanced collision mitigation system with automatic emergency braking.
Interior Design and Special Features
While the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu is much slimmer than its predecessor on the outside, it requires a more evolutionary approach on the inside. That's fine with us, as we commonly praised last year's Malibu for its eye-catching and well-appointed cabin. What jumps out about the new dashboard is its understated gauge cluster, for one thing, changing the old deeply hooded cluster that applied individual pods for the tachometer and speedometer. The gauges themselves also have a more contemporary look, and the climate controls likewise show a bit more flair. Another welcome touch is the way in which the optional MyLink touchscreen is built-in: It seems like an iPad slipped nicely into its own slot, bucking the trend these days of infotainment screens perched awkwardly a top the dash.
Driving Impressions
The 1.5 liter turbo engine could possibly have enough pep for your taste, and it might not. For the record, 160 hp is about as small as it gets in this segment, so don't anticipate a stirring encounter when you mat the gas, even though the new 2016 Chevrolet Malibu is nearly 300 pounds lighter than its predecessor per GM's scales. On the other hand, the adequate turbocharged torque hits early and frequently, so when you're climbing a hill or basically keeping up with traffic, this engine can feel virtually simple and easy. Overall, we'd say it's just excellent for most purposes, but if you are underwhelmed on your test-drive, be sure to check out the energetic 2.0 liter turbo, which creates the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu a much quicker car and also brings the more assured 8-speed transmission. thecarspecs.com/2016-chevrolet-malibu-review/
Claremont, North Carolina-based Cargo Transporters operates Drivewyze PreClear on all 525 trucks in its fleet. John Pope, chairman of the privately-held Cargo Transporters, said the addition of more locations in North Carolina in August of 2017 just several months after its debut in South Carolina proves to him that his company’s decision to remove its transponders and go with bypass service from Drivewyze late last year was the right call. “We believe Drivewyze was the right choice for us because it delivers more bypasses with fewer hassles and because it’s rapidly growing,” Pope added.

As the cathode ray tube in a television ages, it can become dimmer due to less efficient electron emission. An inexpensive fix is to install a booster transformer between the base and the connector of the picture tube. The booster supplies a moderate, continuous overvoltage to the tube, reactivating the electron emitter and thus extending the life of the picture tube.

The 13th international festival for computer based art CYNETART is going to provide a collective atmospheric picture for the reflection on digital culture from 26 November until 06 December 2009 at the festival theatre Hellerau. This will be done by a variety of event formats, such as Automatic Clubbing, a presentation of the output of the European Tele-Plateaus project and the first VIPA-Congress.
Another thematic focus of the festival will be the testing and exploration of new telematic media applications resulting from a continuing mediatisation. This subject is the context of the European co-operation project European Tele-Plateaus – Trans-national Sites of Encounter and Co-Production. This project was started by Trans-Media-Akademie Hellerau together with partners from Norrköping, Madrid and Prague in 2008. It aims at creating virtual sound-image-spaces for the public to walk-in and inter-act in a sensate-bodily condition. This will be across long distances and within networked virtual environments in real-time. CYNETART 2009 will show the recent output of this project within “ETP_body-spaces09 – Exploration of Nearness & Distance” an experimental performance from 03 until 06 December. This performance will involve four dancers, interacting simultaneously in the partner cities, connected via internet and networked in a virtual sound-image space.

Model WILL CYPHA
Description NCP70 1.3 5DR A
Engine Capacity (cc) 1298

The Universal Postal Union (UPU, French: Union postale universelle) is a specialized agency of the United Nations that coordinates postal policies among member nations, in addition to the worldwide postal system. The UPU contains four bodies consisting of the Congress, the Council of Administration (CA), the Postal Operations Council (POC) and the International Bureau (IB). It also oversees two cooperatives including the Telematics and EMS Cooperatives respectively. Each member agrees to the same terms for conducting international postal duties. The UPU’s headquarters are located in Bern, Switzerland.
French is the official language of the UPU. English was added as a working language in 1994. The majority of the UPU's documents and publications – including its flagship magazine, Union Postale - are available in the United Nations' official languages.
Prior to the establishment of the UPU, each country had to prepare a separate postal treaty with other nations it wished to carry international mail to or from. In some cases, senders would have to calculate postage for each leg of a journey, and potentially find mail forwarders in a third country if there was no direct delivery. To simplify the complexity of this system, the United States called for an International Postal Congress in 1863. This led Heinrich von Stephan, Royal Prussian and later German Minister for Posts, to found the Universal Postal Union. It is currently the third oldest international organization after the Rhine Commission and the ITU. The UPU was created in 1874, initially under the name "General Postal Union", as a result of the Treaty of Bern signed on October 9, 1874. Four years later, the name was changed to "Universal Postal Union."
The UPU established that:
There should be a uniform flat rate to mail a letter anywhere in the world
Postal authorities should give equal treatment to foreign and domestic mail
Each country should retain all money it has collected for international postage.
One of the most important results of the UPU Treaty was that it ceased to be necessary, as it often had been previously, to affix the stamps of any country through which one's letter or package would pass in transit. The UPU provides that stamps of member nations are accepted for the entire international route. Toward the end of the nineteenth century, the UPU issued rules concerning stamp design, intended to ensure maximum efficiency in handling international mail. One rule specified that stamp values be given in numerals (denominations spelled out in letters not being universally comprehensible), another, that member nations all use the same colors on their stamps issued for post cards (green), normal letters (red) and international mail (blue), a system that remained in use for several decades.
After the foundation of the United Nations, the UPU became a specialized agency of the UN in 1948. In 1969, the UPU introduced a new system of payment where fees were payable between countries according to the difference in the total weight of mail between them. These fees were called terminal dues. Ultimately, this new system was fairer when traffic was heavier in one direction than the other. As a matter of example, in 2012, terminal dues for transit from China to the USA was 0.635 SDR/kg, or about 1 USD/kg.
