The BT Tower is located at 60 Cleveland Street, Fitzrovia. It has been previously known as the Post Office Tower and the British Telecom Tower.
The tower was designed by the architects of the Ministry of Public Building and Works and the main structure is 177 metres tall, with a further section of aerial bringing the total height to 189 metres.
The tower was commissioned by the General Post Office (GPO). Its primary purpose was to support the microwave aerials then used to carry telecommunications traffic from London to the rest of the country.
The tower is still in use, and is the site of a major UK communications hub.

this week i was really stuck. i knew what telecom stood for, but to put it into photos confused me for days.
then on Tuesday we were set to sign up to the NBN, so a telecom guy was going to come around, but plans changed for that, so that changed my plans on photographing him somehow.
i then tried and failed with a few other ideas i had. then i thought of doing a 'phones through the times' photo, which i think came out better than i had in my head.
here we have a 1980 phone, 1990 phone, 2000 phone and a 2010s phone - aka actually the new iphone 8.
