Oh Heavens, let the damned phone ring

unanswered call to the throes of telesales

I do not care to linger here

but take the air, the space, the time

of pleasantries in memories of no fear

this is pure magic in the realms of the fantastical

but not fantasy, that steps-in before we do

unnoticed, so let it go too

only hallucinatory haloes care to matter

in the course of feeling it's parachuting virtue

engulfing us like a song when we loved to live

now returns reliving our love of it's remembrance

it's in our eye today what reflects yesterday

and that can be a lovely felling, can it not?

if you ever have time to betray...

let it be so, for a recollection, souvenir, has meaning

spiralling back to you for a very valuable reason

it testifies in defence of your very being

those memories have the agility of ability

far, far beyond anything in legible writing

our days are so tegulated we forget their importance

a role above our heads, keeping us dry...

yet always above water, the weal of continuance

nothing that can't be fixed or abridged

a gallery of lost pleasures now illustrate a free-handed credence

for all endeavours and advantageous circumstance

nothing concludes our days better than the truly natural touch

a hand in our lives is forever the heartbeat of life's power

we frequent it's House but remain forgetful of how it's located

as if Nature needed yet another miracle to conjure-

under our very naive noses we sniff at all Her enchantments

stealing Her fragrance to manipulate our cosmetic (un)kind

then take on Euhemerism to commercial effect too

touching the nether regions of flagrant pampering

such a shower through and through!!

but as we speak something on the wind always digests our thoughts,

and that is not pie in the sky

nor something to flip the bird at!

but Her generosity over ages past

are the lever with which barbaric and futile wars may be combat.

I currently do parts telesales at work and found this original parts book in the office today, I had a look through it but couldnt get my head round it. I for one will never moan about ecat again!

“Conversation. What is it? A Mystery! It's the art of never seeming bored, of touching everything with interest, of pleasing with trifles, of being fascinating with nothing at all.”

― Guy de Maupassant

This Bee who was with Ryan (my stranger #48) when I met them in St Peters Street in Ipswich. She is a local and works in telesales. She had been visiting her Dad as well as doing some shopping. Ryan was carrying tjhe bags. They left me to find somewhere to have a coffee.

You can see both Ryan and me reflected in Bee's dark glasses.

I have been tagged twice. By Nokie and Paul Merry. So here goes.

This photo was taken in the early 90's on my mothers 77th birthday, I have designs on that cake.

1.Born in Alloa, Scotland in 1935.

That makes me an OAP or Senior Citizen.

2.Travelled around during part of the war years so went to various schools in my early school days. Left school as soon as possible, when I was 16, couldn’t wait to get to work. I am still in touch with some of the girls from the senior school and we have reunion gatherings yearly.

3. In 1970 I met Pat and moved to Leicestershire.

4. I am not a religious person, although I did go to Sunday school and church until I left school. I have no objections to people and their beliefs. Each to their own I say.

5. I dislike people knocking at my door and trying to sell me something. I am very abrupt with them I am sorry to say. I am very abrupt with telesales people as well.

6. I like:- gardening; animals especially cats and dogs; taking photographs with my Canon 450D; helping people if they need it; sunning myself in the garden on the lounger.

I dislike:- spiders, creepy crawlies, frogs, mice, worms, and people who will not let you have your say on a given subject.

7.Food: I like anything sweet to eat especially chocolate, cakes, gateaux; yes I have a sweet tooth. I will have a go at eating, or at least tasting, different kinds of food. When on holiday (especially abroad like Greece, Italy, France), the fun part is the tasting all the local food.

8. I am stubborn, strong willed and need a lot of persuading to change my mind. I very rarely make a snap decision; I like to think things over quietly before taking the plunge. Most annoying to some people I suppose.

9. I try to see the funny side of things which can sometimes be seen in a few of my photographs, I think.

10. My working life started before leaving school doing Saturday afternoons in that famous shop that no longer exists, F W Woolworths. I continued to work full time in various jobs until I retired at aged 60. I once worked as a Personal Assistant to a man who wore a Pink Suit to work. I think he wondered why I was always smiling, lol.

My aims for the future is to try to be a better person, take better photographs and be nicer to cold callers at the door and on the phone. Who knows maybe I will succeed.

Another beautiful fly. This one was a bit of a pain as it landed on my forearm. My husband took some photos before it flew off..but conveniently it decided to land nearby and I was able to take these photos.

It once was the scenario in Great Britain that most personnel were actually associated with manufacturing. The roll-out of merchandise that could be made in huge amounts making use of engineering was the central source of industry in the nineteenth and early 20th centuries. As time went by, though, the development of items started to be something that might be completed a whole lot less costly offshore now China And Taiwan has become the hub of the planet's manufacturing base.

This means that small business in the UK has transferred much more into offering expert services as opposed to goods. Banking and Finance, needless to say, are classic instances of this sort of enterprise. These items they generate are all conceptual, recorded on pieces of paper and then, lately, in electronic format. Insurance plan is one more illustration as is the Legal profession, Personal Computer Consultancy, Website Marketing and several other sorts of work which entail connection and data processing.

These types of organizations are looking for other businesses to supply their services to. The task they actually do just isn't geared towards consumers, those who are trying to commit their salary on keeping themselves along with their family members occupied, healthy, wealthy and wise. Given That several of these fields are very competitive, due to the fact everybody is wanting to make money supplying the identical services, this produces a sector where there exists a continual need to network with other organizations and get yourself out there so that you can advertise your expert services.

The Business to Business sector is full of organizations, both large and small, that want to convey their solutions to others. It is always the way it is that one on one meetings must be set up with new prospective clients although some organizations currently function cross country, by means of telephone sessions or by means of web conferencing. No Matter Which method of communication is used generating B2B Sessions for private chats, trying to find a possible opportunity to form new business connections is a skill this is certainly a great deal needed.

Just what capabilities are necessary to make a meeting? You may be thinking that remaining proficient in the support offered is top of the listing when actually it is way below towards the bottom as the scheduled appointment which is to be had is with a person who has this data. Anyone creating the consultation has to be, first and foremost , chatty and warm, speedy pondering and flexible so that you can reply to questions or justifications and even more importantly, engaging. Having the capacity to talk anyone through to agreeing to a consultation from somebody who can resolve each of their queries can be a talent that's not very easy to produce.

Specialized organizations now are available to teach and equip their staff to produce consultations on the phone for consumers. These are one more instance of a form of service provider that's developed to back up other service organizations. Isn’t it great how we have swapped out physical work with technical and service jobs so that you can handle the requirement to replace the making of goods by way of the provision of professional services? www.epictelemarketing.co.uk/appointment-setting/

Some of the toughest personalities you encounter in business to business telemarketing are gatekeepers. They are usually receptionists who are assigned to screen unwanted calls, and that includes telephone sales people. Gatekeepers stand in the way between you and the decision maker so you have to figure out a way to get past them.

The best way to do that is to make the gatekeeper be your ally. They are the only link to the decision maker so do whatever it takes to get them to your side.

Be nice to them. It is quite easy to be nice and friendly to the gatekeeper. Being friendly should come naturally to you as a telesales professional. Get the gatekeeper's name and address him or her by that name. Write down the name so you won't forget. If the name is somewhat difficult or unfamiliar to you, repeat it phonetically to be accurate. Getting their names correctly and calling them by their names works wonders.

Make gatekeepers feel important by asking for their help. They are programmed to turn away sales people and once they sense that you are one of them, they will try to get rid of you as soon as possible. There is a way to get around this. Treat them in such a way that appeals to their helpful nature. Ask for their help outright and they should lower their guard and try to help you. You can ask: "Can you tell what's the best time to reach ?" A more pleading question would be: "Can you help me send a message through to please?"

Be straight to the point. It is no use trying to mask what your purpose is for calling. Gatekeepers are trained to screen unwanted sales calls and they can easily sense that you are one of them so cut to the chase and get to the point.

Do not underestimate the gatekeeper. They are competent individuals whom the boss has entrusted the job of deciding who they should let through to talk to them. As a trusted employee, they may know the ins and outs of the business more than you might think.

After doing the above suggestions and you still are not getting any headway, thank the gatekeeper and move on to the next prospect. If things didn't turn out the way you wanted it, keep that friendly attitude. You never know where it will get you.

Most impressive thing here was that he managed to wear his sales headset over the mask.

The flags of St Piran dangle from the ceiling of the Driftwood although the Cornish patron saint's day is not until March 5th so a little premature. Wayne is an old mate going back to the days in the mid 90s when I worked in the Paddington TEB and Telesales and he has been a resident of Cornwall now for over twenty years. We had pitched up in this part of the pub only to find all the tables with 'reserved from 2.00' signs on them in order for the ruggerbuggers to spend hours watching grown men chase an egg-shaped ball. Luckily the other part of the pub was empty and rugby free. The Driftwood has two excellent beer festivals in mid March and around the May Day Bank Holiday. Well worth a visit any time of the year.

Unusual spot for a game of rackets to break out.

When it seems everyone else in the Uk is selling the same thing as you and at a cheaper price, you can't afford to missa trick and you have to be one of the best at the selling game. Whether you're selling retail goods or services there's an awful lot more businesses out there working on exactly the same thing. There are too many competitors, on the web and even locally, for you to wait for the usual advertising to bring in business.

Years ago a larger proportion of the country's work force were involved in manufacturing, hence there were less people in management and service companies. There were fewer entrepreneurs, fewer people selling and overall, fewer businesses in general. Of course there would have been shops, blacksmiths and other one person or family businesses but most people were employees. This meant that there were more potential customers and less competition for those in business. A bigger client base meant more successful sales opportunities and meeting one's competition was rare.

Then we became a country of service businesses, more or less one big service industry with manufacturing becoming less common. The bleak side of a shrinking manufacturing base was that every worker had the choice of starving or retraining for the service industry. This of course meant less variety in the industries that did survive and hence, more competition for everyone.

Now it seems everyone is working for themselves but no one lasts long in business unless they are very canny and know how to get the sales when others do not. What ever your business you have to be talking to possible clients to have potential sales. The trouble is everyone is busy and everyone is being plagued by a million sales people. How then do you get past that 'no thanks' and have a chance of selling?

The number one thing to do is to get an appointment to talk to a relevant person in the business you are contacting. But it might take dozens of calls to find one half interested buyer. First of all you have to research to find the customers, then find the appropriate person to make an appointment with. The whole process can be time consuming and frustrating.

So should you sit all day on the phone yourself? You might not have the right personality or persistence for cold- calling, anyway it would be better to have trained personnel. It is much simpler to have someone else do this for you. Should you then employ a sales team with all the costs that entails? So what should you do?

The answer is to outsource this part of the job. The UK now has really efficient sales teams working from telemarketing companies. These teams can be hired by the job or for so much time and can take all the frustration out of making appointments for sales. They take instruction from you about your product and your business and what you should want in customers and then just get on with the job. This leaves you to pick up the strong leads that they pass your way. www.epictelemarketing.co.uk/testimonials/

I got my V3xx several days ago but it has a slight problem. A few times it has locked up while I was browsing the internet. Also, the keypad doesn't seem to be glued together properly. If you push on the middle keys there is a little gap under it.

I called Cingular Telesales yesterday and they said they would ship me out a new phone. It arrived today! I can then just ship the old one back using the pre-paid shipping label.

So for Christmas, I didn't get much (tight times, sadly). But, what I did get was an iPod shuffle (you all know I've been wanting one of these since the special keynote presentation it was launched at haha), a 2GB USB thumbdrive, and then a few articles of clothing, and a gift card to Hollywood Video. Oh yeah, that's going towards my purchase of Guitar Hero II within the next week.

And yes, those are both atop the box of business cards I had when I worked at Apple. Which I am severely missing... Because this job I have now sucks balls.

Merry Christmas everyone!
