A beautiful balmy day today in our part of the country. +5. Took a quick drive out to Fish Creek Park, and back in time to watch Packers in playoffs, NFL.

I needed a little bit (or a lot) of inspiration and motivation to stop fussing on the crisis of our time and to start focusing on the power that we do have to do stuff. In might have come from a little 2 minute movie on Youtube made from snippets of other movies...but what the hell...it worked for me to paint and make these tees! You can watch the movie here: 40 Inspirational Speeches in 2 Minutes

Other inspirations also come the Ndebele Art forms of South Africa, Joan Miro and Wassily Kandinsky.

And here are the tees on Facebook

A nice ghostly shadow where the life belt fell over in the wind. Note to self - never attempt long exposures when its blowing a gale!!

✖ Australian bombshell Teer Wayde wearing BICHO shirts. I'm a big fan of hers for obvious reasons, so I asked her to model them for me. And what can I say, she did an awesome job!!

This was my car on TEE Rheingold, from Amsterdam to Munich. This car became part of TEE Rheinpfeil later in the journey. One of my goals on this trip was to ride a TEE (Trans Europ Express), the highest class of European train. The Rheingold was the most famous of these in Germany. From the time I left Stockholm, my travel was by train. I had a Eurailpass, which gave me first class travel, something that I found easy to get used to.

The Rheingold (named after the Wagner opera) was a luxury train from Hoek van Holland to Basel, from 1928 until World War II. It was re-established in 1951, and became one of Germany's first TEE trains in 1965. As a TEE, it had a dome car for viewing, particularly along the famous area of the Rhine River.

The Rheingold and Rheinpfeil (Rhine arrow) trains operated in tandem. Rheingold ran from Hoek van Holland (the ferry port for Engand) to Basel. One part started from Amsterdam. Rheinpfeil ran from Dortmund to Munich. The two trains had a common stretch from Duisburg to Frankfurt. they traveled along the Rhine a few minutes apart. There were through cars covering all origins and destinations. I traveled from Amsterdam to Munich in one car, which was on Rheingold to Duisburg, then switched to Rheinpfeil.

This is no longer the case. European express trains operate as units, and cars are not switched from train to train. Instead, you walk from one train to another, with your luggage. If you are lucky, the two trains are on opposite sides of a platrorm.

In the early years of the 20th century, increasing leisure time for ordinary working people meant that relaxing sports, such as golf, were becoming more and more accessible. Playing on the sandy Seaton Carew Golf Course, this man is accompanied by his young caddy.

The new plinth at the northern end of Stockton-on-Tees's recent town centre refurbishment provides a display place for appropriate paraphernalia in support of the many and various public events held in this wonderfully open space. The Tour of Yorkshire Cycle Rally will be in the area shortly I'm hoping that there will be bike up there and maybe a representation of Sir Bradley Wiggins! We shall see.

The poem on the facing is by Mark Robinson a Stockton-on-Tees arts consultant with a number of published poetry collections to his name, the most recent being 'How I Learned to Sing'. His subject matter is the industrial and cultural transformation of the North of England from the Miners Strike to the Big Society. In its own modest way Stockton's plinth is a contribution to that transformation.

THE INFINITE TOWN

A Slice Of Future

Has Tracked Us Down

The River’s Freshness

The Afterfalsh of Fireworked Skies

These Stones Listen

To The Infinite Town

In The Rasp Of Morning

The Slow Breath Of Dusk

A Hope

That Now And Here

May Be Somewhere To Settle

And Train Ourselves To Dream
