NOESIS Science Center and Technology Museum in Thessaloniki, Greece is a modern cultural and educational institution, which serves a major role in the dissemination of scientific and technological knowledge to the public since 2004.
The main attractions are the Technology Museum, including three permanent exhibitions (Ancient Greek Technology, Car showroom and the hands-on interactive Technopark), the Wide Screen Cinema projecting 2D and 3D films, the Virtual Reality Simulator and of course the Planetarium.
The Planetarium, recently upgraded with six high resolution laser projectors and powerful computer servers, offers its visitors a unique viewing experience under its huge hemispherical dome, displaying stunning astronomical representations. Both pre-recorded and live presentations, using the Uniview real-time astronomical software are presented.
Of course, as an amateur astronomer, I must admit that as much as I enjoy programming and projecting a digital sky full of stars, there is no substitute for the real thing: being under the stars on the clear, moonless night away from city lights.

Vossloh Citylink Nr. 431 der Chemnitzer Citybahn an der Haltestelle Technopark. Bis hierher ist das Fahrzeug als Straßenbahn durch die Stadt gefahren, in wenigen Augenblicken wird das Fahrzeug abbügeln und weiter als Eisenbahnfahrzeug nach Thalheim dieseln.
Bei der Bezeichnung Technopark für diese Haltestelle/Wendeschleife bin ich mir nicht ganz sicher wie weit in Chemnitz Anspruch und Realität auseinanderliegen. Die Haltestelle befindet sich mitten auf einem Acker im Nirgendwo. Das einzige Gebäude im Umfeld der Haltestelle ist das Klohäuschen für die Straßenbahnfahrer! Aber vielleicht .... in der Zukunft .....
Vossloh/Stadler Citylink Nr. 442 der Chemnitzer Citybahn hinter dem Theaterplatz.
Im Stadtgebiet fahren diese Fahrzeuge als Straßenbahn, am Bahnhof bzw. am Technopark werden diese Triebwagen zu Eisenbahnen und fahren mit Dieselantrieb ins Umland.

Un endroit qui peut être surprenant de temps à autre. Cette belle moucherolle, encore toute trempée par une averse passagère matinale, m'a offert un certain défi avec cette lumière, mais au traitement, je trouve ce contre-jour intéressant.

A place that can be surprising from time to time. This beautiful flycatcher, still soaked from a passing morning shower, presented me with a bit of a challenge in that beautiful light, but after processing it, I find this backlighting interesting.

Tôt un matin en me rendant chez un ami, j'ai fait un arrêt au Technoparc Dorval et ce beau héron vert m'a accueilli dans une magnifique lumière.

Early one morning on my way to a friend's house, I stopped at Dorval Technopark and was greeted by this beautiful green heron in a magnificent light.

The solar eclipse of January 15, 2010 is an annular eclipse of the Sun with a magnitude of 0.9190. A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun, thereby totally or partially obscuring Earth's view of the Sun. An annular solar eclipse occurs when the Moon's apparent diameter is smaller than the Sun, causing the sun to look like an annulus (ring), blocking most of the Sun's light. An annular eclipse appears as a partial eclipse over a region thousands of kilometres wide.
It was the longest annular solar eclipse of the millennium, and the longest until December 23, 3043, with a maximum length of 11 mins and 7.8 seconds. (The solar eclipse of January 4, 1992 was longer, at 11 minutes, 41 seconds, occurring in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.)

Thanks to Google maps, I discovered Kadinamkulam on a Saturday evening. It is just 12Kms from Kazhakuttam, the seat of Technopark. You proceed on NH 47 and turn into Vettu road. It takes you to the junction at St. Andrews. Turn right (North) at St. Andrews and proceed for about 4-5 Kms to Mariyanad Kadinamkulam lake is just 1 km from this junction. For locals, this just an everyday sight, but to me it appeared like a poor man's Vembanad. A country boat can ferry you to the other bank (Murukkampuzha) in about 15 minutes.On the way from Kazhakootam you can also enjoy the isolated beaches at St.Andrews, Vettiyathura and also some magnificent churches and one or two small temples.
