Got this in a trade for the peugeot frame. The buyer only wanted the stronglight crank, but I didn't have the tools to remove the crank from the frame.
New stem day! My core wanted the bars a little higher, but the Nitto Pearl I'd had on the bike for a long time was already at maximum extension. Thus, I tracked down a Nitto Technomic Deluxe for a little more rise.
Keeping it fun with one gear. Riding this around town makes me feel like a kid again. Outfitted with the infamous Jitensha Nitto flat bar, nitto technomic deluxe stem, porteur rack from Velo-Orange, and a White Industries ENO eccentric rear hub.

Now it's in a perfect shape for me. It's really a pleasure to ride!
As I bought it (used) in 2013: flic.kr/p/mdDu1M
Fenders and fit not perfect yet, but it rode real nicely this morning.
When new this was an entry-level race bike, with tubulars and all. The Competition had French components, room for fenders and 35mm tires, and looked more like a 1960s bike. It harks back to the days of when racers would ride to the course and take off the fenders, lights, and bags for the race then put them back on the for the ride home.
I've set it up for commutes, brevets, and light touring. The bike retains its nice Huret Jubilee derailleurs but the TA racing crankset was replaced with a Ritchey Logic compact. Suntour barcon shifters are not original but period-correct. The wheelset is from the mid 80s but it's still traditional. I don't really like most old brake levers and calipers, so I replaced them with good modern ones. Bars and stem are new as well.

** The Zimbale Leather Saddlebag is just the right size to hold a Lezyne Pressure Drive mini pump, an inner tube, and some tire patch supplies and still maintain the leather and steel retro look. ( www.zimbale.com/default/ )
Also, I did put a light colored oil finish on the Brooks handlebar plugs before the bike was assembled because I did not like the look of raw unfinished wood.
Finally, a couple of somewhat unusual features of the bike include:
(1) the Nitto M190 Euro 80 handlebar, which I had to order from Alex's Cycle in Japan. ( www.alexscycle.com/handlebars/road-1-2/nitto-m190-euro-80...) This handlebar is compatible with European brake levers and has a second groove for Campy Ergopower cables. The curve is slightly different on this Nitto bar as compared to the Nitto STI bars for Shimano levers, and it flows better into the Campy controls.
(2) the three through guides on the lower left side of the top tube. These guides allowed the use of a full-length shielded rear brake cable which resulted in a nice feel when working the rear brake, less chance of something gumming up the rear brake cable, better alignment with the modern cable routing of the Ergopower controls, and a somewhat retro look of a completely shielded rear brake cable.
Re-converted an old Trek 613b (1982) to 650b. I had bought the Trek last winter with the intent of making it into a salt / winter bike, and did a sloppy job all around with installing fenders, lighting, etc... I spent a part of this summer doing a little bit better job, installing VO snakeskin fenders, doing a better job wiring the lighting, and adding center-pull brakes, as the otherwise great Tektro long-reach sidepulls were interfering with the rack and fenders.
Looking forward to this bike as a "Sportier" mid-trail ride to my VO polyvalent. Trail / fork-offset aside, the geometry is "similar enough" to frames that I want (Pelican) that I thought this would a be a good test-run for a sportier geometry with big 650b wheels and to compare handling with my low trail Polyvalent.
Frame juuust fits Compass Babyshoe Pass tires on 25 mm wide rims (Hetres don't fit)-- had intended to use 38mm Pari-motos with this frame, and still might. Fenders are a bit snug with the Babyshoes.
Fenders are a PITA to install on a bike that wasn't designed for them. The result isn't as perfect as I want it and fenders ended up a bit warped, but is good enough for now.

-VO 50 mm Snakeskin fenders
-Hermanns H-One-S front headlights

**Finally, a couple of somewhat unusual features of the bike include:
(1) the M179 STI handlebar is designed specifically for Shimano STI levers (store.somafab.com/nittom179bar.html), and it flows very nicely into the Ultegra controls.
(2) a 46/30T Sugino Compact Plus+ OX801D crankset (www.suginoltd.co.jp/english/ox801d_main_english.htm) was mounted on the De Rosa Nuovo Classico frame along with a Shimano FD-CX70 cyclocross front derailleur. (In case you are wondering, the Sugino Compact Plus+ OX801D is a higher end crankset which costs more than an Ultegra 6700 crankset, but it offers many more chainring options. www.alexscycle.com/cranks/road-1-2-3-4-5-6/sugino-ox801d-...) According to the Shimano web site (bike.shimano.com/publish/content/global_cycle/en/us/index...), the FD-CX70 is designed for use with top gear chain rings of 46-52 teeth and has a maximum capacity of 16 teeth. So, it works fine with the Sugino 46/30T crankset. The FD-CX70 is also fully compatible with current Shimano ST-6700/ST-5700/ST-4600 10-speed road shifters as is the Sugino Compact Plus+ OX801D crankset. That means that the combination of the Sugino Compact Plus+ OX801D crankset and the Shimano FD-CX70 front derailleur works with Ultegra 6700 shifters and the Ultegra 6700 rear derailleur and a 12-30T cassette. The combination of a 46/30T crankset and a 12-30T cassette gave a reasonable top gear of 100.7 gear inches and a low gear of 26.3 gear inches. That gearing is great for general riding up and down hills.

I worked a bit on the ergonomics and some details to make this new old race bike more mine. As usual I changed brake operation (front rhs / rear lhs). This is not an easy task, as on the top tube the rear brake cable enters the frame on the left front side. Further the crankset was changed to 175mm, I installed a Selle Flite saddle, a Nitto stem and a Soma HWY1 bar.

The combination of a 46/30T crankset and an 11-28T cassette gave a top gear of 109.9 gear inches and a low gear of 28.2 gear inches. For comparison purposes, a standard compact 50/34T Shimano crankset with a 12-30T cassette would have given a top gear of 109.5 and a low gear of 29.8 gear inches.
A 12-30T Shimano cassette could have been substituted in the Supercorsa build, which would have given a reasonable top gear of 100.7 gear inches and a low gear of 26.3 gear inches. That gearing is on my De Rosa Nuovo Classico and is great for general riding up and down hills.

Got new low-rider panniers from eatbikenap65-- making a matching set of bags acquired over 2 years. Excited to start touring!
This is a fairly new build, meant to be my commuter and touring rig.
For those interested in the details:
Frame - Soma Grand Randonneur v.1 65mm (got from fellow iBob-er)
Headset - Interloc Roller Bearing (came with frame)
Stem - Nitto Technomic 80mm super-duper long stem (from used parts bin at LBS)
Bars - Nitto M132 (I think? Could be 135’s) 41 or 42 cm (I don’t feel like going back down to the basement to measure)
Seatpost - Nitto S84 lugged, 40mm offset
Saddle - (Brand new) Rivet Pearl
Yeah— that’s a lot of setback there on the saddle. See discussion on my recent post in iBob, but, basically, I really need a custom frame with a 69-70˚ seat tube angle (similar or identical to mgugie's “North Trask” frame. I need this much setback for my long femurs / maximum pedaling efficiency, but given that it places most of my weight almost over the rear axle it makes for a relatively unstable ride unless the front is loaded down pretty heavily.
Wheels - Velocity Atlas 25.4mm, 36 hole rims laced to a SP-8 Dynamo Hub (front) and a Velo Orange hi-lo 10 speed hub (rear). Note: The Hi-Lo is a great hub, but is not enough for someone of my weight. I should have gotten their excellent touring hub. Will be upgrading the bearings in this hub this winter.

Custom-painted 62cm Rambouillet by Rivendell Bicycle Works (RBW), handbuilt in Toyo Japan. It's a "stock" frame; full geometry specifications are here (p. 15).
RBW gave the frame custom paint in a rust orange with cream accents -- a variant of "Quickbeam orange" according to Keven at RBW.
This was about the fastest/lightest Rivendell possible before the introduction of the Rodeo. Hence the Shimano Ultegra drivetrain and brakes. Here's the parts list:
Front wheel: 700c Mavic Open Pro 32-hole rim, Suntour XC9000 hub, 32 spokes (built by Rich Lesnik at Rivendell).
Rear wheel: 700c Mavic Open Pro 32-hole rim, Ultegra 9-speed cassette hub, 32 spokes (built by Rich Lesnik at Rivendell).
Tires: Rivendell Roll-y Pol-y, 700x28c, Kevlar bead.
Fenders: SKS ("silver" P35, 700c x 20-28mm tires.

Crank: Ultegra 9-speed 52/42/30 triple, 175mm arms (FC-6503).
Front derailleur: Ultegra 9-speed for triple crank (FD-6503; 28.6mm clamp).
Bottom bracket: Ultegra Octalink V1 (BB-6500, 118.5mm).
Cassette: Ultegra 9-speed HG, 14x25T (CS-6500).
Rear derailleur: Ultegra (long cage).
Chain: SRAM/Sachs 9-speed (PC-951).
Front rack: Rivendell/Nitto “Mark’s Rack”.
Head set: Ultegra head set.
Brakes: Ultegra caliper brakes (BR-R600), standard reach (57mm), with Kool-Stop brakepads.

Handlebar: Nitto Soba, 46cm.
Stem: Nitto Technomic Deluxe, 10cm reach.
Handlebar tape: Brooks leather ("honey").

The final incarnation of my 1982 Bridgestone Sirius randonneuring bike. The final specs: 63cm 1982 Bridgestone Sirius frame, Brooks B-17 Standard, Carradice Pendle with Bagman support, Rivendell Boxy handlebar bag with Nitto support, 46cm Nitto Noodle Bar with shellac coated cork, vintage Shimano 600 "Arabesque" group including shifters (mounted on the bar ends), Brake levers (NOS from Belgium), front and rear derailleurs, and cranks with 50/40 rings. A Phil Wood bottom bracket, Dura Ace centerpull brakes, Nitto 67 seat post, Nitto Technomic stem and a Zefal hpX pump. I use a Nite Rider battery powered light (you can see it strapped to the head tube). I built the wheels from vintage Shimano 600 hubs and Mavic CXP 22 rims. The rear gear cluster is a 14-34 six speed freewheel. She rides great, fits me perfectly (thanks to Matt at Woodstock Bike Gallery) and loves loooong rides.

I've been building up my single speed / porteur / commuter since last summer.
I'll have on the road by spring and most likely will be delivering Etsy packages to the post office with my nifty handbuilt wood slat rack by Trucker Racks/Ben Leonard here in PDX.
Here's the build highlights so far
- 1982 Trek 531 frameset salvaged from under neighbor's porch
- Vintage Stronglight cranks w/ MKS touring platform pedals (nice and wide)
- Nitto Technomic Stem and Albatross bars. Cork grips of course.
- Brooks B67 springer saddle (honey) and matching Challenge tool bag
and the good stuff
- Honjo hand hammered aluminum fenders
- Powdercoated wood slat front rack from Ben Leonard/Trucker Racks
