Teacher & Principal of the Year - 2022

Model: Elena

vincer potero dentro a me l’ardore

ch’i’ ebbi a divenir del mondo esperto,

Teacher & Principal of the Year - 2022

Annie Leonard notes in The Story of Stuff, “Our primary identity has become that of being consumers—not mothers, teachers, or farmers, but of consumers. We shop and shop and shop.”

Victor Lebow, “Our enormously productive economy…demands that we make consumption our way of life, that we convert the buying and use of goods into rituals, that we seek our spiritual satisfaction, our ego satisfaction, in consumption….[W]e need things consumed, burned up, replaced, and discarded at an ever-accelerating rate.."

BUT in Scripture we have..

Jesus, "Love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you.

Do not lay up for yourselves treasures upon earth.

No one can serve two masters.

If anyone wishes to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

Beware, and be on your guard against every form of greed; for not even when one has an abundance does life consist of possessions."

Day 269

A wise man once said, no matter who you are, what you do, a teacher works harder than you. Literally brain surgery.

In Iowa as in many GOP controlled states, teachers and public employees are being made into scapegoats to further an agenda that's funded by the Koch Brothers. My wife is a teacher. Both my parents were. I know what they do and their worth to society. Pity that the other side feels differntly.

I spent some time with this class this morning while they were working with the computers from the laptop cart. Their introduction to computers as tools in grade 1 is good, but there is nothing like the way the teacher can raise the interest in reading and numeration by grasping the students attention. It is nice to see the balance.

The first of 13 teacher gifts! Working on some more this weekend. So fun to make!

For the end of the school year we took our class to a nearby beach. Several students and a teacher waded out in search of waves and deeper water.

`Alex McKinley and Co., publishers of Melbourne Punch, engaged architect Nahum Barnet to design these shops and offices in 1890. Builders J and J Baxter had completed the contract by 1891, preceding a diverse list of tenants which included one Sydney Spark who specialised in magnetic massage among other things; E Thompson-Boyd, an American dentist and two clubs, the Lyric Club and Austral Dramatic Club. Charles Fraser and Miss E. Walter had artists' studios there, as did the renowned photographer, John W. Lindt. As a change from the usual dentist-doctor enclave, other tenants were music teachers, Thomas Hammond and William Hunter, and a botanist, William Terry. Felton Grimwade and Co. occupied the ground level around 1910 and, safely confined to the basement, was the Victorian Spiritualists Association.'

My son didn't want his preschool teachers to be excluded from receiving goody bags on his birthday, so I came up with these. Inside I placed Starbuck's Chocolate Truffles. Yum!

In many colleges the semester is moving forward and we get closer to the exam period. Therefore I thought, it’s time for a strobist shot, I produced at the beginning of this year.

A friend of mine, a teacher at a high school, wished to get a professional portrait of him sitting over his grading work. I had an picture idea in mind, ... www.werner-kunz.com/world/2010/11/photo-the-teacher/
