This is taken from a photo I took several years ago of a man carrying tea across the Chowrasta square in the centre of Darjeeling. I raised myself a challenge and tried painting a person - came out alright. I still resort in the end to using a pen to define the figure. My next challenge is to paint a portrait using only paint. The background didn't come out as well as I had wanted.
Here is a version I tried of this in oil pastels. [http://www.flickr.com/photos/davidabbott/4813999771/]

Tea ladies caused a stir in Trafalgar Square as they practised their dance moves for the Strictly Fairtrade Tea Dance. They also tried to persuade people to join 'The Big Swap' and change from their usual products to Fairtrade items to support producers in the developing world. www.thebigswap.org.uk
