King's Taste Extra Pale Dry Beer quart bottle label, circa 1963. The brand was also available in 12 ounce flat top cans. One can imagine this as the kind of beer a king would drink with his big feasts, but it was actually a supermarket brand, brewed for Hagstrom Food Stores of Oakland, California by Grace Bros. Brewing Company of Santa Rosa.

The aesthetic language of street style has long fascinated Kawakubo. She often deploys it in periodic explorations of taste, as in the collection 'Bad Taste', which incorporated punk and fetish styles. Using textiles thought to be cheap, kitschy, and vulgar, such as nylon and polyester, the designer upends received nations of good taste and exposes inherent prejudices and bourgeois posturing in the precincts of elite culture.

I love this soda! I used to drink it all the time when I was a child, but I hadn't seen it in many years. I thought maybe the company had gone out of business, but lucky for me, that is not the case! :)
