Spirit of Tasmania is the ferry between mainland Australia and Devonport in Tasmania.

Scamander is a small town at the mouth of the Scamander River between St Helens and St Marys on the north-east coast of Tasmania in Australia. The town is a popular holiday destination because of its wide, sandy beaches and views of the ocean. Recreational activities include surfing, swimming and fishing for bream in the river.

"Felix" noun

From Latin: Fēlīx meaning "fortunate, happy, or lucky".

Australia used to be referred to as "the lucky country". Originally this went back to the colonial days of "Australia Felix", long before the colonies became a Federation in 1901. But it was always only "felix" for some. It was however a land of opportunity and a place of new beginnings.

That is Tasmania today. Fortunate in many respects, especially since it has been the least directly affected by world events in the past 18 months. Our air is clean, water pure, and more than 50 percent of our state has fully protected forests and an environment to be envied. Still, it is not enough for some. It never is when you're part of the WOKE crowd, where we are meant to feel guilty just for living.

In the end we are all fortunate to exist, the winners in nature's lottery. So it's time we give thanks for the gift of life to the Author of Life.

The picturesque town of Stanley (population 553), sits below the amazing prominence known as "The Nut". This is in fact the plug of an extinct volcano that rises 143 metres above sea level. Stanley is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Tasmania (when tourism is operating!). In the distance at the far right you can make out the huge jetty of Port Latta and the smelter, with the hills of Rocky Cape. In 2016 Stanley was converted to a film set for the historic movie, "Light Between Oceans".

A shot that has languished unseen in my photostream for 18 months. This shot taken at sunset (I was facing east) at St Helens on the east coast of Tasmania. So spectacular was the sunset at St Helens, I stayed a second day in the hope of seeing the same again, and I wasn't disappointed.
