Le Président de la République, SEM Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, Président en exercice de la Conférence des chefs d’Etat et de gouvernement de la Communauté Economique des Etats de l’Afrique de l’Ouest (CEDEAO) est arrivé ce jour à Accra au Ghana où s'ouvrent les travaux de la 5ème réunion de la Task Force présidentielle sur le programme de la monnaie unique de l’organisation communautaire.
Cette réunion de haut niveau s’inscrit dans le cadre de l’opérationnalisation de la vision des chefs d’Etat de la sous-région pour une CEDEAO des peuples et celle d’un espace économique unique.
Avec ses homologues du Ghana, du Nigéria, de la Côte d’Ivoire et du Niger, membres de la Task Force présidentielle, ils adopteront une nouvelle feuille de route pour accélérer le processus de création de la monnaie unique d’ici à l’horizon 2020.
La Task Force présidentielle a pour rôle d’accompagner le processus d’intégration monétaire et de suivre l’état d’avancement des travaux pour la création de la monnaie unique. Elle vient en appui au programme de coopération monétaire de la CEDEAO lancé en 1987, en vue de parvenir à la création d’une zone monétaire unique et de favoriser la libre circulation des personnes et des biens.
La dernière réunion de la Task Force présidentielle s’est tenue en octobre 2017 à Niamey au Niger.

U.S. Army Soldiers with Task Force Marauder were presented with coins from U.S. Air Force Gen. Joseph Lengyel, Chief, National Guard Bureau, Nov. 23, 2017 in Afghanistan for their recent actions in response to a mass casualty involving U.S. Soldiers. Lengyel recognized Soldiers with Detachment 1, C Company, Medical Evacuation, 2-211th General Support Aviation Battalion (GSAB) with the Iowa National Guard and C Company, 4-3 Assault Helicopter Battalion (AHB), 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade, who responded to a vehicle borne improvised explosive device strike against an American convoy Nov. 13, 2017, which left four U.S. Soldiers wounded. Task Force Marauder consists of Soldiers from South Carolina National Guard, Illinois National Guard, Iowa National Guard, as well as active duty component and provides aviation capabilities with AH64 Apaches, UH60 Black Hawks, CH47 Chinooks, and medevac assets in Afghanistan under the 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade while deployed. Virginia National Guard Soldiers, as well as soldiers from the Republic of Tajikistan, conduct a physical fitness challenge, Army Warrior Tasks and traverse an obstacle course during the 2023 Virginia Army National Guard Best Warrior Competition March 18, 2023, at Fort Pickett, Virginia. The four-day event also includes a swim event, a written exam, land navigation, a ruck march, a three-gun event and an appearance board. The VNG noncommissioned officer and Soldier who finish first will represent the Virginia National Guard at the regional-level competition later in 2023.
