Brisbane is known as the river city. It is so iconic, this building frontage uses a diagram of the river as it meanders from right to left and back again through the cliffs of Kangaroo Point and New Farm, through its flood plain and the city proper that it encases in its arms (or reaches) and on upstream past West End and other leafy suburbs. But while it is a river of beauty, it also has a cruel taskmaster when it floods with many adjacent suburbs having felt its wrath with increasing frequency over the years. The building is 180 Anne Street, high up and well beyond its sometimes destructive waters.

So yesterday not one, but two of my memes got reviewed on J2GOSRS, the firsrt meme on the left he gave a 6/10, better than expected (despite the fact he got spooked), the second one on the right he didn't rate because he hasn't played a Lego game, but he at least featured it. If I keep this up I might get some more memes featured on more meme shows.

Custom printed Udon Taskmaster Lego. Features: custom made energy shield accessory, custom painted hood, brickarms handgun, lego sword and sword holder.

Now I know that Ant-Man has only been out for a few days, but after seeing that movie twice, I've been pondering where they could go if (or when) they make a sequel. As of this post, Ant-Man 2 has not been announced, but I bet there will be one. Alright, so I'm just going to go down this list and give my reasons why.

****ANT-MAN SPOILERS AHEAD****

Red Queen: Now in the comics, Hope Van Dyne is the Red Queen. Now, Marvel could do this one of two ways:

1. Have Janet return and be Red Queen while Hope is Wasp.

2. Janet returns and Hope turns evil and becomes the Red Queen.

They could do this because as we've seen with Scott in the movie, it is now possible to come out of the Quantum Realm. Maybe with a little help from Doctor Strange?

Now these next two kinda tie into one thing that happens in the movie. Mitch Carson (the HYDRA dude that Hank hates in the flashback) steek the shrinking serum that Cross made and then we never see of him. So we could very easily see HYDRA in the sequel!

Black Ant: Now in the comics, Eric O'Grady is Ant-Man, then dies, and then is resurrected by Dr. Doom as the Black Ant. Now there is no way they could do this because of rights issues so maybe have Eric be a ex-SHIELD HYDRA agent use the Pym particles that Carson stole and become Black Ant!

Mitch Carson: This one seems the most likely because we see him take the particles at the end of the movie so maybe well see him become a shrinking Ant-Man villain like Black-Ant, Scarlet Beetle, or somebody entirely new because we've seen that Marvel is not afraid to change a villain's identity!

Taskmaster: Now this one could also tie back to the Carson theory because Taskmaster has worked with HYDRA a lot in the past and he has fought with Scott Lang many times in the comics.

Egghead: Now I'm surprised that Egghead wasn't the villain in the first Ant-Man movie because he was one of Ant-Man's first and most popular villains. I don't have any theories for him. But if the rumors are true that the next Ant-Man movie could be a prequel with Hank Pym, then maybe he could be the first villain.

Whirlwind and Radioactive Man: Now I grouped these two together because I feel basically the same way with these two and Egghead, they're just iconic Ant-Man villains. Maybe they could both be in the movie together and then eventually set up a Masters of Evil in the movie!

Crossfire: Now I have a pretty cool idea for the Ant-Man sequel. So like how Black Widow was apart of Captain America: the Winter Soldier, maybe Hawkeye could be in Ant-Man 2! This is because Crossfire is a pretty big villain to both Hawkeye and Scott Lang and it would also be could to have some of this if you know what I'm sayin: www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBVhFbI0cNI Crossfire would also be good for the sequel because he is Darren Cross's cousin and maybe he could have some sort of revenge storyline in the movie!

Well, that's all for my theories, please tell me what you think in the comments below and make sure to leave your ideas as well!

Oh yeah and don't forget that my first issue of Ant-Man is going up on Friday! So look forward to that!

Character Creation

The most well-known Cobra is Klaus Voorhees, now known as the King Cobra. He first appeared in Journey into Mystery #98 (Nov. 1963) created by writer Stan Lee and artist Don Heck.

Klaus Voorhees was a laboratory assistant, working with a professor trying to find a cure for various venomous snake bites. A combination of a bite from a radioactive cobra and the experimental anti-venom granted him superpowers, which led to him becoming the supervillain briefly known as the Human Cobra and then as the Cobra. The Cobra and Mister Hyde formed a criminal team for years, fighting various heroes such as Thor and Daredevil.

He later became a member of the Serpent Squad and a member of Sidewinder's Serpent Society. During a takeover attempt by the Viper, the Cobra actually opposed her rule and sided with Captain America to depose the Viper and foil her plans. The Cobra later took the name "the King Cobra" as he assumed leadership of the Serpent Society. When the Serpent Society became Serpent Solutions under the leadership of the Viper (Jordan Stryke, a different Viper) the King Cobra became a member of the group.

His nephew, Piet Voorhees, became the second Cobra and first appeared in White Tiger #1 (Jan. 2007) in a story written by Tamora Pierce and drawn by Timothy Liebe. Piet Voorhees was injected with the same chemicals that gave his uncle his powers and he became the second Cobra, working as a mercenary. On one mission he encountered the White Tiger, who defeated him. The Cobra later joined the Serpent Squad, organized by Sin and would also work for HYDRA as a mercenary.

Marvel has also used the moniker "Cobra" for two World War II Nazi villains and also a mercenary enemy of Moon Knight.

The original Cobra has appeared outside of Marvel Comics, most notably in "The Mighty Thor" portion of The Marvel Super Heroes as well as in episodes of The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes and Marvel Disk Wars: The Avengers.

Klaus Voorhees was briefly known as the Human Cobra, then was known as the Cobra for many years and is currently known as the King Cobra. The Klaus Voorhees version of the Cobra was most commonly associated with Thor, Daredevil and, to a lesser extent, Captain America and Spider-Man. The character was created by Stan Lee and Don Heck in Journey into Mystery #98 (Nov. 1963) in which he first battled Thor. His next appearance (Journey into Mystery #105–106 (June–July 1964)) saw him team up with Mister Hyde for the first time (with Hyde being the brains of the team) and the duo had a few more encounters with Thor before their first battle with Daredevil in Daredevil #30–32 (July–Sept. 1967).

Fictional character biography

Career Criminal

Soon after deciding to start a criminal career, he was stopped by Thor. He then forged an alliance with Mr. Hyde, that continued for a very long time. They faced enemies like Daredevil and Spider-Man. Cobra also joined the Serpent Squad, they helped an Atlantean warlord known as Krang, but Cobra felt out of his element. Soon he again teamed with Mr. Hyde, but this time the partnership didn't last long. Cobra left Hyde behind when escaping Rikers Island. Later, Hyde was hunting him and he feared for his life, with the help of Spider-Man he was able to escape Hyde's wrath.

Serpent Society

King Cobra again teamed with others like him, this time it was called the Serpent Society. After several betrayals, Cobra was left the leader of this group. Now feeling like a new man, he decided to face his greatest fear, Mr. Hyde. He fought him face-to-face. After defeating him, he renamed himself King Cobra. He tried to get some order into this group, but it backfired and the group fell apart. King Cobra soon was arrested, and sent to the Vault. When the breakout happened he was among the escapees. A new hero Toxin tracked him down with the help of Mr. Hyde.

Civil War and Thunderbolts

When the Superhuman Registration Act went through, King Cobra joined the Thunderbolts.

The Savage Six

Cobra was captured by Taskmaster and Black Ant for a big trophy hunt set up by Kraven the Hunter. Kraven chose villains that were animal themed to punish them for disgracing the animal kingdom. King Cobra was one of six main animal villains that Kraven used to sell rich patrons on the hunt. Arcade, Kraven's partner, referred to them as The Savage Six.

Once freed after Spider-Man's interfering with Kraven's plan, Vulture liked the sound of the Savage Six and pitched to his other advertised big game baddies (Rhino, Scorpion, Tarantula, and Stegron) that they should stick together. Once together, they made their way to Hollywood to shut down a production of a biographical movie produced by Mysterio that painted them in a less than ideal life. Mary Jane was on set and confronted them to no avail. Luckily, Screwball, Master Matrix, and other supervillains getting a second chance as crew members were there to rescue her.

Sinister War

The team gets a second chance to ruin Mysterio's movie by attacking the premiere. Unfortunately, because Mary Jane is starring in it, she was in attendance, with Spider-Man as her plus one. He leapt into action, but his attempt was short lived. The new Sinister Six showed up to recruit Mysterio and did battle with the Savage Six.

They regroup with other supervillain teams at a graveyard where Spider-Man was hiding. Kindred let them know they were all hellbound and gave them all the same offer, the villain that kills Spider-Man will get a free pass in Hell. Eventually, Doc Ock uses a piece of Black Ant's helmet to knock everyone, including the Savage Six, out through the ear centipedes Kindred was using to control them.

Roxxon

King Cobra was hired by a resurrected Dario Agger to join a team of Thor's old foes to stand ready in case the god return to Midgard. Thor had been framed for Agger's own murder and been manipulated with "skald magic" (storytelling incantations). When Thor arrived to clear his name, he was attacked by these foes. They were able to get the jump on him, and Grey Gargoyle managed to turn him into stone, which Mister Hyde proceeded to destroy.

Thor recently upgraded his power with a new belt, materialized from the power of Zeus, which fought back against Grey Gargoyle's stone touch. Cobra and the others were scared by Thor's feat and retreated to Agger's side. He used them as bait once more, however, this time Thor brought reinforcements. Cobra filled the battlefield with his cobra gas, but Sif managed to knock him out.

When the dust settled, the foes were arrested and moved to a private prison owned by Roxxon.

Powers and Abilities

The Cobra possesses certain unusual physical powers derived from his mutagenically altered physiology which among other things help him simulate the movement of a snake. All of the bones in his body, including his skull, are malleable and his muscle tissue is exceedingly resilient, making his body very flexible and pliant. It is nearly impossible for him to break a bone or tear a muscle. Hence, the Cobra can survive impacts that would kill or inflict major injury upon a normal human being with little or no injury to himself.

The Cobra's flexibility enables him to slither into and out of very tight and small places. Through compressing his body, the Cobra can fit into any hole or slot down to four inches in diameter. By using his flexibility to wrap himself about a victim's body and then exerting his full strength, the Cobra traps that victim within his "Cobra Grip." No normal human being can break free of his grip unless he is extraordinarily well trained in fighting, and even many superhumanly strong beings would have difficulty freeing themselves.

Strength: able to lift own body weight, speed peak range - 700 MPH, Enhanced Durability. Short range energy projection, short duration, single energy type.

“I got this…memory thing. I pick up anyone’s moves just by seein’ ‘em. That’s a lotta data. More’n my brain’s got room for, I guess. So I…forget things. Things that ain’t about combat, about survival. People, places…I can’t remember what I did last week. By Monday, I probably won’t remember this conversation. I wanted ta fight you ’cause…I thought if I remembered your moves, I might remember you.” ~ Tony Masters aka Taskmaster

Tim phoned the owner of the holiday apartment today, to extend our stay to the end of next week. He went out to get some cash, but was thwarted by the cashpoint at Tesco - so I took a ten minute break from work and hotfooted it to the High Street - posting a couple of cards on the way. It was rather rainy on the way - I was very glad of the excellent wind-proof umbrella Tim'd bought me for my birthday.

Lindsey (the owner) popped over at lunchtime, so we gave her the cash and had a long-ish chat with her, until Tim needed to leave to go and take delivery of our new kitchen back at the house. Exciting! Just got to get it put in now....

After work, we had a lovely stormy - but happily not rainy - walk down to the harbour. Plenty of rain going on across the Bristol Channel though, which made for some nice dramatic photos.

Dinner in the apartment, then back home for Taskmaster and bed.

Arcade kept standing there, wheezing and coughing. (Seriously, writer, think of better words than using "cough" and "wheeze" over and over. Thanks.)

Arcade: *cough*... Or, you could get to it now.

(For you new comers, he's responding to something I said at the end of the last issue. Go back and read it!) Okay, so, a metal arm comes from Arcade's belt, and cleans off the burns on his face... His belt then extends, covering up to his shoulders, with metal armor.

Arcade: Ha ha! It's time for the final boss!!!

Deadpool: Final? So this is finally over?!

Arcade: Well, I have a strong suspicion I'm gonna die soon anyway.

The door continues to get banged on...

Arcade: So, make the most of it, I guess.

He pointed a gun that was attached to his armor at Negasonic...

Deadpool: M'kay, cool, I assume this suit thingy was planned from the beginning, so you'd probably be p#ssed if I did this..!

I swung my sword at him, but it didn't do anything. Just hit his armor, it just touched it.

Arcade: Ha ha ha!!! Oh, Wade. You really think I made something weak for your final antagonist?!

He turned his gun over to me, and shot me in the head! I blasted back, my mask ripping off my face.

Deadpool: Ouch... Lucky I'll just have it back in the next issue for no reason.

I got back up, and spun around in a circle, spinning both of my swords at him. All the hits did nothing to his armor, except the last one, which left the tinniest scratch, I could barely see it.

Deadpool: Damn it.

Negasonic looked at him, and an explosion came from under him. It did nothing.

Negasonic: ...What?

Arcade: Sorry, but you have to try harder than that!

Arcade shot at Negasonic, but she caught his laser with her telekinesis, and swung it back at him. It hit his chest, and still did nothing.

Negasonic: Ugh...

She turned to me...

Negasonic: You can't die, right?

Deadpool: Mhm!

She lifted her arms, and the ceiling started to cave in... Explosions appeared around her, and fire lit up her eyes...

Negasonic: Agh..!!!

Explosions came one after another in a trail, leading towards Arcade! Flames lit up the room, and things like pipes and chunks of cement started coming from a gap in the ceiling, being thrown at him! Her hair went up, as she put her arms behind her...

Negasonic: Aghh!!!!!

The bags in the room turned into metal spikes, and were flung at Arcade, followed by more explosions, and a wave of smoke filling the room...

Deadpool: *cough*... Holy sh#t, how did you do that...

Negasonic: I can do a lot of things. He's dead, btw, I have foresight.

The smoke fled the room... Arcade was still standing there, spotless.

Arcade: Ha.

Deadpool: ...How!?

Arcade: Even Prometheus was strapped to the stone. Foresight means nothing, compared to raw strength.

Suddenly, Arcade's head was cut off.

Deadpool, looking down: ...What!?

I looked back up... Turns out, Negasonic's powers broke the door open. Taskmaster killed Arcade. Arcade must've protected his face somehow during Negasonic's god moment.

Negasonic: Well, my foresight was right. Just for the wrong reasons.

Deadpool: Finally, this sh#t is over.

Taskmaster: Not quite. Arcade may be dead, but evil people are still out there. I'd like to be of service.

I actually managed to get out of the house on time this morning, so popped over to One New Change quickly on my way to work. This reflection of St Paul's Cathedral caught my eye on the way past, but it wasn't until I looked through my viewfinder that I noticed the beautiful light and patterns around it, too. Very happy with this shot - didn't bother taking any more for the rest of the day.

Had a good day getting on top of things at work - before I'm off on jury service next week. I even had time to tidy my desk. That'll make up for my untidy inbox when I get back in a couple of weeks (or at least, I hope it's only a couple of weeks!)

Had a lovely chilled out start to the weekend catching up on various good bits of TV with Tim - Taskmaster, Gogglebox, Frankie Boyle's New World Order - all with a cheeky little beer.

The Wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer

The wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer took place on Wednesday 29th. July 1981 at St Paul's Cathedral in London. The groom was the heir to the British throne, and the bride was a member of the Spencer family.

The ceremony was a traditional Church of England wedding service. The Dean of St Paul's Cathedral Alan Webster presided at the service, and the Archbishop of Canterbury Robert Runcie conducted the marriage.

Notable figures in attendance included many members of other royal families, republican heads of state, and members of the bride's and groom's families. After the ceremony, the couple made the traditional appearance on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

The United Kingdom had a national holiday on that day to mark the wedding. The ceremony featured many ceremonial aspects, including use of the state carriages and roles for the Foot Guards and Household Cavalry.

Their marriage was widely billed as a 'Fairytale Wedding' and the 'Wedding of the Century'. It was watched by an estimated global TV audience of 750 million people.

Events were held around the Commonwealth to mark the wedding. Many street parties were held throughout the United Kingdom to celebrate the occasion.

The couple separated in 1992, and divorced in 1996 after fifteen years of marriage.

The Tragic Death of Diana, Princess of Wales

Diana, Princess of Wales died after a high-speed car crash at the age of 36 on the 31st. August 1997 at the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital in Paris.

When Diana married Charles, she was a naïve yet hopeful young woman seeking true love. But by the time she died, Diana was jaded, bitter, and impossibly scarred by her disastrous marriage and being hounded by the media.

Twenty years after Princess Diana's funeral, people recall the iconic moments, from the sea of flowers and mementos left outside Kensington Palace to the heart-breaking image of Prince William and Prince Harry walking behind their mother's casket.

Diana’s younger brother Charles, the ninth Earl Spencer, held nothing back during his funeral oration. Funeral attendees may have been expecting a tearful remembrance of Diana’s life. Instead, they felt the full brunt of her brother’s fury at those he felt were responsible for her death.

In paying tribute to his sister, the 9th Earl Spencer reportedly angered the Queen and created a rift in the royal family that has only begun to heal in recent years with the births of Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

What Charles Spencer said in Westminster Abbey is as follows:

Charles Spencer's Funeral Speech

'I stand before you today, the representative of a family in grief in a country in mourning before a world in shock.

We are all united not only in our desire to pay our respects to Diana but rather in our need to do so.

For such was her extraordinary appeal that the tens of millions of people taking part in this service all over the world via television and radio who never actually met her, feel that they too lost someone close to them in the early hours of Sunday morning. It is a more remarkable tribute to Diana than I can ever hope to offer her today.

Diana was the very essence of compassion, of duty, of style, of beauty. All over the world she was a symbol of selfless humanity. All over the world, a standard bearer for the rights of the truly downtrodden, a very British girl who transcended nationality. Someone with a natural nobility who was classless and who proved in the last year that she needed no royal title to continue to generate her particular brand of magic.

Today is our chance to say thank you for the way you brightened our lives, even though God granted you but half a life. We will all feel cheated always that you were taken from us so young, and yet we must learn to be grateful that you came along at all. Only now that you are gone do we truly appreciate what we are now without, and we want you to know that life without you is very, very difficult.

We have all despaired at our loss over the past week and only the strength of the message you gave us through your years of giving has afforded us the strength to move forward.

There is a temptation to rush to canonise your memory, there is no need to do so. You stand tall enough as a human being of unique qualities not to need to be seen as a saint. Indeed to sanctify your memory would be to miss out on the very core of your being, your wonderfully mischievous sense of humour with a laugh that bent you double.

Your joy for life transmitted where ever you took your smile and the sparkle in those unforgettable eyes. Your boundless energy which you could barely contain.

But your greatest gift was your intuition, and it was a gift you used wisely. This is what underpinned all your other wonderful attributes and if we look to analyse what it was about you that had such a wide appeal, we find it in your instinctive feel for what was really important in all our lives.

Without your God-given sensitivity we would be immersed in greater ignorance at the anguish of AIDS and H.I.V. sufferers, the plight of the homeless, the isolation of lepers, the random destruction of landmines.

Diana explained to me once that it was her innermost feelings of suffering that made it possible for her to connect with her constituency of the rejected. And here we come to another truth about her. For all the status, the glamour, the applause, Diana remained throughout a very insecure person at heart, almost childlike in her desire to do good for others so she could release herself from deep feelings of unworthiness of which her eating disorders were merely a symptom.

The world sensed this part of her character and cherished her for her vulnerability whilst admiring her for her honesty.

The last time I saw Diana was on July the 1st., her birthday in London, when typically she was not taking time to celebrate her special day with friends but was guest of honour at a special charity fund-raising evening. She sparkled of course, but I would rather cherish the days I spent with her in March when she came to visit me and my children in our home in South Africa. I am proud of the fact apart from when she was on display meeting President Mandela we managed to contrive to stop the ever-present paparazzi from getting a single picture of her -- that meant a lot to her.

These were days I will always treasure. It was as if we had been transported back to our childhood when we spent such an enormous amount of time together -- the two youngest in the family.

Fundamentally she had not changed at all from the big sister who mothered me as a baby, fought with me at school and endured those long train journeys between our parents' homes with me at weekends.

It is a tribute to her level-headedness and strength that despite the most bizarre-like life imaginable after her childhood, she remained intact, true to herself.

There is no doubt that she was looking for a new direction in her life at this time. She talked endlessly of getting away from England, mainly because of the treatment that she received at the hands of the newspapers. I don't think she ever understood why her genuinely good intentions were sneered at by the media, why there appeared to be a permanent quest on their behalf to bring her down. It is baffling. My own and only explanation is that genuine goodness is threatening to those at the opposite end of the moral spectrum. It is a point to remember that of all the ironies about Diana, perhaps the greatest was this -- a girl given the name of the ancient goddess of hunting was, in the end, the most hunted person of the modern age.

She would want us today to pledge ourselves to protecting her beloved boys William and Harry from a similar fate and I do this here Diana on your behalf. We will not allow them to suffer the anguish that used regularly to drive you to tearful despair.

And beyond that, on behalf of your mother and sisters, I pledge that we, your blood family, will do all we can to continue the imaginative and loving way in which you were steering these two exceptional young men so that their souls are not simply immersed by duty and tradition, but can sing openly as you planned.

We fully respect the heritage into which they have both been born and will always respect and encourage them in their royal role. But we, like you, recognise the need for them to experience as many different aspects of life as possible to arm them spiritually and emotionally for the years ahead. I know you would have expected nothing less from us.

William and Harry, we all cared desperately for you today. We are all chewed up with the sadness at the loss of a woman who was not even our mother. How great your suffering is, we cannot even imagine.

I would like to end by thanking God for the small mercies he has shown us at this dreadful time. For taking Diana at her most beautiful and radiant and when she had joy in her private life. Above all we give thanks for the life of a woman I am so proud to be able to call my sister, the unique, the complex, the extraordinary and irreplaceable Diana whose beauty, both internal and external, will never be extinguished from our minds'.

Anne, Princess Royal

Anne, Princess Royal, was born Anne Elizabeth Alice Louise on the 15th. August 1950. She is the second child and only daughter of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, and the only sister of King Charles III.

Anne is 16th. in the line of succession to the British throne, and has been Princess Royal since 1987.

The Princess Royal's ancestry can be traced as far back as Cerdic, King of Wessex (519–534).

Born at Clarence House, Anne was educated at Benenden School and began undertaking royal duties upon reaching adulthood.

She became a respected equestrian, winning one gold medal in 1971 and two silver medals in 1975 at the European Eventing Championships.

In 1976, she became the first member of the British royal family to compete in the Olympic Games. In 1988, the Princess Royal became a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The Princess Royal performs official duties and engagements on behalf of her brother, the King. She holds patronage of over 300 organisations, including WISE, Riders for Health, and Carers Trust.

Her charity work revolves around sport, sciences, people with disabilities, and health in developing countries. She has been associated with Save the Children for over fifty years, and has visited a number of their projects.

Anne married Captain Mark Phillips in 1973; they separated in 1989 and divorced in 1992. They have two children, Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall, and five grandchildren.

Within months of her divorce, Anne married Commander (later Vice Admiral) Sir Timothy Laurence, whom she had met while he served as her mother's equerry between 1986 and 1989.

Princess Anne - The Early Years

Anne was born during the reign of her maternal grandfather, King George VI, at Clarence House on the 15th. August 1950 at 11:50 am, the second child and only daughter of Princess Elizabeth, Duchess of Edinburgh, later Queen Elizabeth II from 1952, and Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

A 21-gun salute in Hyde Park signalled the birth. Anne was christened in the Music Room of Buckingham Palace on the 21st. October 1950 by the Archbishop of York, Cyril Garbett.

At the time of her birth, Anne was third in the line of succession to the British throne, behind her mother – at that time Princess Elizabeth – and older brother, Charles. She rose to second after her mother's accession; she is currently 16th in line.

A governess, Catherine Peebles, was appointed to look after Anne and her other siblings, Charles, Andrew, and Edward, and was responsible for her early education at Buckingham Palace. After the death of George VI in February 1952, Anne's mother ascended the throne as Queen Elizabeth II.

Given her young age at the time, Anne did not attend the coronation in June 1953.

A Girl Guides company, the 1st. Buckingham Palace Company to include the Holy Trinity Brompton Brownie pack, was re-formed in May 1959, specifically so that, as her mother and aunt had done as children, Anne could socialise with girls her own age.

The company was active until 1963, when Anne went to boarding school. Anne enrolled at Benenden School in 1963. In 1968, she left school with six GCE O-Levels and two A-Levels. She began to undertake royal engagements in 1969, at the age of 18.

In 1970, she briefly had a relationship with Andrew Parker Bowles, who later married Camilla Shand. Shand much later married Anne's brother Charles as his second wife. Anne was also briefly linked to Olympic equestrian Richard Meade.

Princess Anne's Equestrianism

In spring 1971, Princess Anne finished fourth at the Rushall Horse Trials. At age 21, Anne won the individual title at the European Eventing Championship, and was voted the BBC Sports Personality of the Year in 1971.

She also rode winners in horse racing, competing in the Grand Military Steeplechase at Sandown Park Racecourse and Diamond Stakes at Royal Ascot.

For more than five years, Anne also competed with the British eventing team, with her home-bred horse, Doublet suffering an injury during the 1972 Badminton Horse Trials, and winning a silver medal in both individual and team disciplines in the 1975 European Eventing Championship.

The following year, Anne participated in the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal as a member of the British team, riding the Queen's horse, Goodwill, in Eventing.

Anne suffered a concussion halfway through the course, but remounted and finished the event; she has stated she cannot remember making the rest of the jumps. The British team had to pull out of the competition after two horses were injured.

Anne finished sixth at the Badminton Horse Trials in 1979.

In 1985, she rode in a charity horse race at the Epsom Derby, finishing fourth. Anne became President of the Fédération Équestre Internationale from 1986 until 1994.

On the 5th. February 1987, she became the first member of the royal family to appear as a contestant on a television quiz show when she competed on the BBC panel game A Question of Sport.

The princess has been a patron of the Riding for the Disabled Association since 1971, and became its president in 1985, a position she still holds.

Princess Anne's Marriages and Children

-- Marriage to Mark Phillips

Anne met Mark Phillips, a lieutenant in the 1st. Queen's Dragoon Guards, in 1968 at a party for horse lovers. Their engagement was announced on the 29th. May 1973.

On the 14th. November 1973, the couple married at Westminster Abbey in a televised ceremony, with an estimated audience of 100 million. They subsequently took up residence at Gatcombe Park.

As was customary for untitled men marrying into the royal family, Phillips was offered an earldom, which he declined; consequently their children were born without titles. Anne and her husband had two children: Peter (born 1977) and Zara Phillips (born 1981). Anne and Phillips have five grandchildren.

On the 31st. August 1989, Anne and Phillips announced their intention to separate; the couple had been rarely seen in public together, and both were romantically linked with other people.

They shared custody of their children, and initially announced that there were no plans for divorce. However, on the 13th. April 1992 the Palace announced that Anne had filed for divorce, which was finalised ten days later.

-- Marriage to Sir Timothy Laurence

Anne met Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, a commander in the Royal Navy, while he was serving on the Royal Yacht Britannia. Their relationship developed in early 1989, three years after he was appointed as an equerry to the Queen.

In 1989, the existence of private letters from Laurence to the Princess was revealed by The Sun newspaper. The couple married at Crathie Kirk near Balmoral Castle in Scotland, on the 12th. December 1992.

Approximately 30 guests were invited for the private marriage service. Unlike the Church of England at the time, the Church of Scotland permitted the remarriage of divorced persons under certain circumstances.

Anne became the first royal divorcée to remarry since Princess Victoria Melita of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, granddaughter of Queen Victoria.

For the wedding ceremony, Anne wore a white jacket over a demure, cropped-to-the-knee dress and a spray of white flowers in her hair. Her engagement ring was made of a cabochon sapphire flanked by three small diamonds on each side.

Following the marriage service, the couple and guests headed to Craigowan Lodge for a private reception. Laurence received no peerage.

The Kidnapping Attempt

On the 20th. March 1974, Princess Anne and Mark Phillips were returning to Buckingham Palace from a charity event when a Ford Escort forced their Princess IV car to stop on the Mall.

The driver of the Escort, Ian Ball, jumped out and began firing a pistol. Inspector James Beaton, Anne's personal police officer, exited the car to shield her and to try to disarm Ball.

Beaton's firearm, a Walther PPK, jammed, and he was shot by Ball, as was Anne's chauffeur, Alex Callender, when he tried to disarm Ball. Brian McConnell, a nearby tabloid journalist, also intervened, and was shot in the chest.

Ball approached Anne's car and told her that he intended to kidnap her and hold her for ransom, the sum given by varying sources as £2 million or £3 million, which he claimed he intended to give to the National Health Service.

Ball told Anne to get out of the car, to which she replied, "Not bloody likely!" She reportedly briefly considered hitting Ball.

Eventually, she exited the other side of the limousine, as had her lady-in-waiting, Rowena Brassey. A passing pedestrian, a former boxer named Ron Russell, punched Ball and led Anne away from the scene.

At that point, Police Constable Michael Hills happened upon the scene; he too was shot by Ball, but he had already called for police backup. Detective Constable Peter Edmonds answered, gave chase, and finally arrested Ball.

Beaton, Hills, Callender, and McConnell were hospitalised, and recovered from their wounds. For his defence of Princess Anne, Beaton was awarded the George Cross by the Queen, who was visiting Indonesia when the incident occurred.

Hills and Russell were awarded the George Medal, and Callender, McConnell, and Edmonds were awarded the Queen's Gallantry Medal.

It was widely reported that the Queen paid off Russell's mortgage, but this is not true. Russell said in 2020 that a police officer suggested that it might happen, so he stopped paying his mortgage in anticipation, and nearly had his house repossessed after four months.

Anne visited Beaton in hospital and thanked him for his assistance. In 1983, she spoke about the event on Parkinson, saying she was scrupulously polite to Ball as she thought it would be 'silly to be too rude at that stage'.

Beaton, who had been Anne's sole bodyguard, later said about royal security:

"I had nothing… There was no back-up

vehicle. The training was non-existent;

but then again, we thought nothing was

going to happen.

They are highly specialised now, highly

trained."

Immediately after the attack, the use of only a single protection officer was stopped, and the Walther PPK pistol was replaced.

Ball pleaded guilty to attempted murder and kidnapping. As of September 2022, he was still detained under the Mental Health Act at Broadmoor Hospital, having been diagnosed with schizophrenia.

The attempted kidnapping of Princess Anne was the focus of the Granada Television-produced docudrama To Kidnap a Princess (2006) and inspired story lines in Tom Clancy's novel Patriot Games.

Activities

Anne undertakes a number of duties and engagements on behalf of the sovereign. Kevin S. MacLeod, the then Canadian Secretary to the Queen, said of Anne in 2014:

"Her credo is, 'Keep me busy. I'm here

to work. I'm here to do good things.

I'm here to meet as many people as

possible'."

It was reported in December 2017 that the Princess Royal had undertaken the most official engagements that year out of all the royal family, her mother the Queen included. Among her royal visits, the Princess has toured Norway, Jamaica, Germany, Austria, New Zealand, and Australia.

Anne's first public engagement was at the opening of an educational and training centre in Shropshire in 1969. Anne travels abroad on behalf of the United Kingdom up to three times a year.

She began to undertake overseas visits upon leaving secondary school, and accompanied her parents on a state visit to Austria in the same year.

Her first tour of Australia was with her parents in 1970, since when she has returned many times to undertake official engagements as a colonel-in-chief of an Australian regiment, or to attend memorials and services such as the National Memorial Service for victims of the Black Saturday bushfires in Melbourne on the 22nd. February 2009.

In 1990 she was the first member of the royal family to make an official visit to the Soviet Union when she went there as a guest of President Mikhail Gorbachev and his government.

Anne is involved with over 200 charities and organisations in an official capacity. She works extensively for Save the Children, serving as president from 1970 to 2017, and has been patron since 2017. Anne has visited the organisation's projects in Bangladesh, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Mozambique, Ethiopia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

As a result of her work, she was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1990 by Kenneth Kaunda, President of Zambia.

She initiated The Princess Royal Trust for Carers in 1991.

Anne is the patron of Transaid, a charity which aims to provide safe and sustainable transport in developing countries. She is also the royal patron of WISE, an organisation that encourages young women to pursue careers in science, engineering and construction.

Her extensive work for St. John Ambulance as Commandant-in-Chief of St. John Ambulance Cadets has helped to develop many young people, as she annually attends the Grand Prior Award Reception.

Anne is patron of St. Andrew's First Aid. She is a British representative in the International Olympic Committee as an administrator, and was a member of the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games. She also serves as president of the British Olympic Association.

She was president of BAFTA from 1973 to 2001. In 1985 she became president of the Riding for the Disabled Association after serving as their patron for fourteen years.

In 1986 she was appointed Master of the Worshipful Company of Carmen. She maintains a relationship with student sport, and is the patron of British Universities and Colleges Sport.

Anne has been patron of the Royal National Children's Foundation since 2002 and the Industrial Heritage Museum since 2016.

Following the retirement of the Queen Mother in 1981, Anne was elected by graduates of the University of London as the Chancellor, and has been in the position since that year.

Throughout May 1996, Anne served as Her Majesty's High Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, and held the post again in 2017.

In 2007, she was appointed by the Queen as Grand Master of the Royal Victorian Order, a position her grandmother had also held.

Anne is a Royal Fellow of the Royal Society, and the Academy of Medical Sciences. Royal Fellows are members of the royal family who are recommended and elected by the Society's Council.

Anne was elected Chancellor of the University of Edinburgh effective 31st. March 2011, succeeding her father, who stepped down from the role in 2010. Likewise, she accepted in 2011 the roles of president of City and Guilds of London Institute, Master of the Corporation of Trinity House, and president of the Royal Society of Arts, also in succession to her father.

Anne has been the president of the Commonwealth Study Conference, an initiative founded by her father. She is also patron of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists, Royal College of Midwives, Magpas Air Ambulance, Edinburgh University's Royal School of Veterinary Studies, Royal Holloway, University of London, International Students House, London, Acid Survivors Trust International, Townswomen's Guilds, Citizens Advice, and the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.

Anne represented Great Britain in the International Olympic Committee at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics in Russia. In August 2016, she returned to the country to visit the Russian city of Arkhangelsk for the 75th. anniversary of Operation Dervish, which was one of the first Arctic convoys of World War II.

In September 2016, the Princess had a chest infection and was required to cancel official engagements. In late October 2016, she visited the Malaysian state of Sarawak for a two-day study tour.

In 2017, she became Prime Warden of the Worshipful Company of Fishmongers and a Governor of Gresham's School.

In 2021, Anne became patron of Mercy Ships, an international charity that operates the largest non-governmental hospital ships in the world.

In April 2022, Anne and her husband toured Australia and Papua New Guinea to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. In the same year, Anne was named honorary chair of National Lighthouse Museum's Illuminating Future Generations campaign, a project aimed at raising funds for the museum's gallery space.

On the 12th. September 2022, in St Giles' Cathedral, Edinburgh, Anne became the first woman to participate in a Vigil of the Princes, guarding her mother's coffin. This was repeated at Westminster Hall on the 16th. September.

It was later revealed that she had been the informant at her mother's death at Balmoral, a witness who signs, along with the doctor, the death certificate.

Princess Anne's Public Image and Style

Anne has been called the royal family's "trustiest anchor" and a "beacon of good, old-fashioned public service", having carried out over 20,000 engagements since her 18th. birthday.

In her early adulthood, she was cited as a "royal renegade" for choosing to forgo titles for her children despite being the "spare to the heir".

The media often called the young Anne "aloof" and "haughty", giving her the nickname "her royal rudeness".

She spurred controversy for telling photographers to "naff off" at the Badminton Horse Trials in 1982. Vanity Fair wrote that:

"Anne has a reputation for having

inherited her father's famously

sharp tongue and waspish wit".

Of her early public role, Anne has said:

"It's not just about 'can I get a tick in the box

for doing this?' No, it's about serving…It took

me probably 10 years before I really felt

confident enough to contribute to Save the

Children's public debates because you needed

to understand how it works on the ground, and

that needed a very wide coverage. So my early

trips were really important."

Anne remains one of Britain's most popular royals. Telegraph Editor Camilla Tominey called her a "national treasure", writing that she is "hailed as one of the great English eccentrics", whose work ethic contributes to her regard.

Tominey wrote that Anne's public role is:

"A contradiction of both protocol

taskmaster and occasional rule-

breaker".

Reportedly, Anne insists on doing her own make-up and hair, and drives herself to engagements, having pleaded guilty to two separate speeding fines on account of being late.

She does not shake hands with the public during walkabouts, saying:

"The theory was that you couldn't

shake hands with everybody, so

don't start."

Members of the public have seen her mending fences at Gatcombe Park, and queuing up for the Portaloos at her daughter's horse competitions.

Her reputation is also coupled with her advocacy for causes out of the mainstream, such as Wetwheels Foundation's commitment to accessible sailing and the National Lighthouse Museum.

On her 60th. and 70th. birthdays, the BBC and Vanity Fair both asked whether she would retire, and she denied it both times, citing her parents' example as well as her commitment to her royal duties.

Anne's public personality has been described as "not suffering fools lightly" while maintaining a "still-impressive level of grace and courtesy".

British Vogue editor Edward Enninful has said that:

"Princess Anne is a true style icon

and was all about sustainable fashion

before the rest of us really knew what

that meant".

Her style has been noted for its timelessness; she relies almost solely on British fashion brands, with tweed and tailored suits as her hallmarks.

She is known for recycling outfits, such as her floral-print dress worn both to the wedding of the Prince of Wales in 1981 and the wedding of Lady Rose Windsor in 2008.

Anne is the patron of the U.K. Fashion and Textile Association. She has been noted for wearing "bold patterns and vibrant pops of colour".

Her style choices often reflect her equestrian interests as well as the practicality of her fast-paced schedule.

In the 1970's and 1980's, she was often photographed wearing trends such as puff sleeves, cardigans, bright floral patterns, and multicoloured stripes. Anne is also one of the few women in the royal family to wear a military uniform.

According to The Guardian, she is rarely seen without a brooch during royal events. Her millinery styles have included jockey caps and hats of multiple colours and bold patterns.

She presented the Queen Elizabeth II award for British design at London Fashion Week in 2020.

Anne has appeared on three British Vogue covers; after first appearing on the 1971 September issue at age 21, she also featured in the May and November 1973 issues, commemorating her engagement to Mark Phillips. She was featured in the cover story for the May 2020 issue of Vanity Fair.

Anne is the first member of the royal family to have been convicted of a criminal offence. In November 2002, she pleaded guilty to one charge of having a dog dangerously out of control, an offence under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991, and was fined £500.

Taskmaster: "I learned everything I need to know by watching your many fights with Captain Rogers."

Iron Man: *Note to self: no more disagreements with Steve*

I know this particular Taskmaster isn't everyone's fave, but i really dig him. As for Invincible Iron Man, however, he's one of my favorite Marvel Legends of all time! He's solid, he's shiny, he's posable, I dig the look - everything about this guy is fantastic.

The computer's back, so the pics are finally back to normal. Aaannd so's 80th Cap, who's throwing his mighty shield at Taskmaster!

I have to say, this may be my favorite Marvel Legend of the year. I'm biased, since I'm a bit of a Cap fan, but when you look at this figure, you can tell a lot of love went into putting him together. That said, it was a pain to come by. Stinkin' Walmart.

While searching for Taskmaster in the Canadian Rockies, Scourge comes across something far more terrifying.

I gotta say, where Sasquatch lacks, I think Wendigo ended up being pretty good. And I don't think anyone would argue that Scourge / Demolition Man is a pretty great figure.

As soon as they touched down, the helicopter they rode in flew away, leaving them in the middle of the desert. the terrain was dotted with rocks and a few resilient plants.

Taskmaster pointed east. "The warehouse is a few miles that way. It's pretty simple: get in, kill everyone in the way, get the objective, and get out."

"I've got no problems with that." Natasha said.

"Well then, let's go." He replied.

The mid-morning sun scorched down upon the three agents, who trudged towards their destination without complaint. Natasha pulled her face mask just a little bit higher, trying to protect herself from the burning sun. Beside her, the Winter Soldier strode in silence, his face denying conversation.

"So, you're something of a legend, I never thought I'd actually meet you! Many of the stories are old... Really old. They say you've been active for at least forty years... How is that possible?" After a period of silence, she decided that she would not, in fact, receive an answer to her question. She continued, "Well, I guess you can't believe everything you hear. At least you could tell me how many missions you've completed..."

His expression became even more closed, if that was possible.

"Too many." He finally said without looking at her, before picking up his pace. The short conversation was evidently over.

She mulled over it's few details as she walked over the hot sand.

When they finally stopped, their destination, a walled warehouse, was in view. They crouched behind a particularly large rock.

Taskmaster spoke quietly, "Doesn't look like to much trouble... Only a handful of guards. Winter Soldier, you take out the one operating the gate, then cover Black Widow and I as we go in. Let's roll!"

Mortal Recoil: Total Recall – The Life of Meaning in the Carnal Nation ~

If you are an immortal being living through a succession of mortal lifetimes, why can’t you remember your past? If we’re all in control of our own destinies, how and why have we decided to forget?

Where do you go when you’re asleep? How do you ‘go to sleep’? Are you the same person when you wake up? Can you remember who you were yesterday? How much of your own childhood do you remember? How much of last month – last year?

Have you ever experienced anything you wanted to forget? Have you ever wished you could start your life all over – with a blank slate?

If I want to remember my previous lives, I must explore memory itself to pass through the waters of forgetfulness and reach the dawn of illumination. I must expand and refine my recollections of this life, sorting truth from accretion and memory from fantasy. I must divine for truth as a dowser divines for hidden water or minerals.

I must learn how to tell truth from falsehood, illusion and self-delusion – and continually practice this art, by being my harshest critic and taskmaster and my most compassionate mentor and friend. I must develop a very sensitive bullshit detector and an expansive sense of empathy for the blind sleepwalkers all around me.

I can’t expect the world to make much impression on me if I’m living a half-waking dream all my life – if the reality revealed by my senses is always passing me by, drowned out by the incessant commentary always running through my mind. I have to be certain I’m awake to know I’m not dreaming a vivid fantasy.

I have to be here now if I want to actually experience my life. I have to be mindful of what’s really happening inside me and all around me. To do that, I have to stop my thoughts, or alternately separate my self from the eternal chatter of the surface veneer of my identity – the acculturated monkey mind and emotions that have grown with me since I was swimming in my mother’s womb.

I have to find a deeper wellspring within, beyond the unending entertainments that distract me from life itself. I have to silence the chatter or remove myself from its internal influence, by locating my self in the centre of the eternal cyclone of thought and emotion.

I have to know who it is who goes to sleep and wakes up every night and every day.

I have to know the true meaning of the word ‘meditation’, which has nothing whatever to do with thinking. I have to find out who it is that’s doing all the thinking – or being distracted by it!

I have to open my mind to all the things that the purblind natives of this dawning New Millennium deny and exclude from their blinkered tunneled visions – the realities filtered out by hidebound neo-feudal cultures that stubbornly refuse to observe anomalies, discrepancies and outright disproof of their common beliefs and quaint ‘scientific’ notions.

If I want to have a life I have to walk away from the screen when I finish reading this and explore reality – if my memory span extends that far!

If I am not the sum of my thoughts, beliefs, habits and culture, then what am I? What is within me that survives to carry on?

Am I a projection into this four dimensional TimeSpace, a partial expression of an expanded being, who simultaneously dwells throughout many other dimensions as well? Am I part of something and someone that dwells in all the hyperspaces and parallel continua that we know exist (in implicate, interconnected conjunction with the reality we can see, hear, feel, smell and taste with our terrestrial time-bound senses), from the observations of physics and the realities implicit in geometry? And from the subtle magic of synchronicity and coincidence…

When you realise your mind isn’t yours and your consciousness isn’t confined to the cave of your skull, it’s easy to see how an apparently finite, mortal, death-bound being could in fact be a virtual extension of something else entirely. You can access all these realms and dimensions by expanding y/our consciousness. And paradoxically, this is facilitated by concentrating on the smallest things – or nothing at all.

Staying alive and aware is a continual weaning process. Potty training only ends in infancy in primitive societies full of throwaway people with short lives and attention spans, whose purpose is simply to maintain a dreaming gene-pool. Gaining complete control of your breathing, digestive system, heartbeat, brain activity, fertility and all other physical parameters is well within the capabilities of most children. It’s the way out of the matrix.

Almost all those who could have taught us how to escape the prisons of our cultures by exploring our own nature were burned at the stake or stoned to death by our superstitious grandparents or forebears – but the techniques are implicit in the forms and functions of our bodies; a true seeker will always find a way, and will be helped along by the indivisible invisible hands of those who’ve preceded you, if your mind and heart are in the right place. In a universe where memory is truly ineradicable, lost techniques and memories can be recovered and resurrected.

In our primitive superstition-ridden cultures of the early New Millennium – in which people are automatically taught to be suspicious and afraid of their own bodies and sexuality – most humans don’t even know where their physical organs are located after a decade of ‘education’. How can we expect to have any idea of what we are when we’re encouraged not to look at (or touch) our selves or each other? How can we find our true nature (or even nature itself) if we allow ourselves to be continually distracted by bullshit and melodrama? Will we find ourselves in a sitcom or ‘reality’ show? Do clothes make the woman? How’s the attention span going?

If you want to be cleansed of unpleasant memories or the pitiful painful results of an unexamined life and self-destructive lifestyle, an easy way is to cut off all your sensory inputs. You can do this by staying in a sensory deprivation chamber, by taking opiates, by going to sleep or by dying. If you remain in a sensory deprivation chamber for a couple of weeks your mind will be washed clean – unless you’re particularly adept at meditation – and a womb makes an excellent sensory deprivation chamber, washing you in the warm waters of forgetfulness for months.

Some philosophers suggest that if people knew they were immortal, we’d all automatically be aware of the laws of karma and dharma and practice the Golden Rule. But immortality is no impediment to free will. We all have many of the same motivations to be creative, honourable and compassionate or cruel, uncaring and destructive, whether we have a small single life or a big multiplex one. Regardless of whether you’re immortal or not, the same ethical questions apply; and either way, you can’t leave yourself behind and wherever you go, there you are, for as long as you are you. It’s an excellent motivation for changing the things in yourself you aren’t comfortable with – and a terrible lesson for would-be suicides.

In the folklore of forgetfulness, the amnesiac is compelled to relive aspects of the events they have forgotten; he who forgets the lessons of his story is condemned to repeat them. Until full waking memory relinks the past with the future, the amnesiac is trapped in a cycle of repetition – and hell is often defined as repetition.

Yet immortality provides a wider and deeper perspective into the connectedness of all things and beings, and this does make a fundamental difference to our beliefs, motives and actions. In the absolute centre of the cyclone, I am you, and we are Divine.

Who are you again? Are you distracted yet? What’s that over there?

Your parents and grandparents were happy and satisfied to be lied to and cheated by those who still get away with stealing the wealth and knowledge of the Earth (and everywhere else) for themselves – are you?

Turn on. Tune in. Opt OUT! Find like-minded friends and work with them to free the world and free our Mind…

Last night, Lucy the 'borrower' came round to sit with Harbie while Tim, JJ and I went to see comedian Josh Widdicombe at the King's Theatre, Portsmouth. I'm not a huge fan of stand up comedy but we all like Josh and his show really made us all laugh. It was a very full audience and he told us he enjoyed our enthusiasm! JJ and I smiled as JJ looks a bit like Josh, with his wavy hair and glasses! The support act was pretty good, Dane Buckley, who describes himself as the world's only Irish, Indian, gay comedian - he made us laugh and had a certain charm about him. It was a good night.

Credit to JJ for the close up photo of Josh Widdicombe - his photo was way better than mine.

Headliner and format: Josh Widdicombe leads the Not My Cup of Tea tour as a classic theatre stand-up night, with a rotating support act and a brief interval before his headlining set. There is no house band or sketch ensemble; the focus is tightly on stand-up, sharp observational stories, and audience energy across more than 60 UK Josh Widdicombe tour dates nationwide.

About the main act: Widdicombe is best known as a co-host of Channel 4’s The Last Leg alongside Adam Hills and Alex Brooker, a role he has held since 2012 on the show’s BAFTA-nominated run. He won the first series of Taskmaster, created and starred in the BBC Three sitcom Josh, and has appeared on Live at the Apollo, Mock the Week, QI, and 8 Out of 10 Cats. Beyond the stage, he co-hosts the chart-topping Parenting Hell podcast with Rob Beckett and wrote the Sunday Times bestselling memoir Watching Neighbours Twice a Day… about growing up with 1990s TV.

You obviously forgot how I fight, but I bet you didn't forget that I'll shoot. Now, why are you here?

Diorama by High School Creations (Etsy and IG: @highschoolcreations)

Have fun, and happy snapping!

It's Henry Pellatt's desk at Casa Loma. The cranking bit of metal behind the lamp is an early telephone. Over on the left there's a bit of the old manual typewriter.....a thing of mystery to anyone under 25.

I learned how to type on a manual typewriter and I can well remember those classes in high school. We had an older teacher and she never called the girls by their first names but rather addressed us all in the rather sweetly archaic form of "Miss". She would walk up and down the aisles as the firm taskmaster and say things like, "Miss Jones, keep your eyes off the keyboard" .....or "Miss Smith, your posture isn't helping your typing." The goal was to reach 60 words per minute typed error free. If you've done that on a manual typewriter you know what a challenge it was to get to that speed without typographical errors. You'll note I did not say 'typos'....that teacher would not have approved of such slang. :-D

The challenge with this photograph was the light. To the right is a large window and a bright, sunny day and on the table is the lamp with its glowing bulb and then there's the metals and glossy wood of the table and lots of dark areas. Not an ideal set-up but good for a personal challenge.........and I just liked the desk. It would be a whole lot nicer than the one I presently use!

The main character from Assassins Creed Black Flag

I'm not going to make this as long as Aiden Pierce's photo so I'm going to try to make this short. He uses Brickforge waist armor and bandolier for his acessories and he has a Pirates of the Caribbean flintlock and a sword. His head is from Thor with a white hood piece from Taskmaster.

A silenced rifle-shot dispatched the guard in the gatehouse. The Winter Soldier quickly sprinted up and unceremoniously shoved the corpse away from the controls. He flicked a few switches, and the gate started to slowly creak open, inch by inch. Natasha and Taskmaster were soon at his side. Taskmaster pulled a round shield off his back, ready for combat. A confused guard made the mistake of checking why the gate had opened, and was unlucky enough to find the reason, along with a bullet in his head. Black Widow and Taskmaster rushed into the building, the Winter Soldier right behind them. They slowed their pace as they rounded a corner into a large room, with crates stacked somewhat haphazardly across it's expanse. Military personnel looked up at their arrival, and quickly decided that they were hostile. The trio ducked behind a stack of different-sized crates as shots ripped through the air. They waited for the soldiers to come within striking distance, and exploded into action. Black Widow rolled into their midst, sweeping out legs, cracking skulls, and breaking necks, with an occasional gunshot to boot. Taskmaster faced a particular group heading straight towards him, and charged, bringing his shield up to block fire, before speedily thinning their ranks with his sword. The Winter Soldier picked off the unfortunate enemy with his rifle, ducking the occasional bullet, but stopped when he noticed one guard creeping slowly behind him in a valiant attempt at an ambush. He slammed his rifle into the poor man's shoulder, bringing him to his knees, then smashed his bionic arm into his jaw in a brutal uppercut, sending him flying into the pile of crates he himself had hid behind.

Soon, the violence had ended, and they looked on their work. Natasha felt remorse for the lives she took, but was consoled by telling herself she was did it for her country and people. She looked up, and at the Winter Soldier, and in his eyes saw... sadness? The moment was too brief to be sure. They turned away, and started searching for the particular package they needed. The Winter Soldier came to the shelf that it was supposed to be sitting on, but found it empty.

"It's not here!" He growled.

Taskmaster looked at the same spot for a moment, then said something in colorful language.

Natasha noticed a door, and walked up to it, turning the knob. She pushed it open, and stepped into a dark office. She saw a heavy, important-looking book, and picked it up, walking back to the others.

"This is the shipping log. Found it in there." she said, pointing to the office. "Apparently, the cube was just shipped out to an undisclosed location."

Taskmaster repeated his earlier sentiment, albeit more loudly.

"However, the book does say that the man who oversaw the shipment was a Mr. Hugo Natchios..."

Taskmaster's expression changed. Well, Natasha imagined it changed. It was hard to tell with the mask.

"So if we find him... We know where the Cube is."

Natasha smiled. "This mission isn't over."

Hey! Sorry that took a while, I've been kind of busy. Don't forget to click that follow button if you liked this! Adiós.

Seen on the 1982 (i think) HCVS London to Brighton Run. (Not taken by me)

Vehicle & trailer was one of two new to H & G Simonds Brewery of Reading, to move malt the short journey from the maltings to the brewhouse after it became uneconomical to transport it in sacks. Now owned by the Southern Counties Historic Preservation Trust after restoration was carried out by Courage Ltd.

The first half of 2020 is pretty much a write-off now, with various regular transport events unavoidably cancelled, including the London to Brighton Run, so I'll be digging out some photos to occupy myself until normal service resumes.

This photo is NOT MINE - it was in a collection I bought online and unfortunately I don't know the photographers name, so I hope he/she won't mind me posting this one.

What if...?

Taskmaster often ends up the foil of my pics, so I figured it was about time I gave him his due.

By asking what would happen if he killed Captain America! *gasp*

Have fun, and happy snapping!

Ras Al Guhl: official Lego pieces.

Doctor Destiny: cape & torso from custombricks. The Taskmaster head works pretty good for Destiny. He is based on the Justice League TV show by Bruce Timm.

Deathstroke & Harley Quinn (Arkham Style) from Green Pea Toys.

One week later

The Russian trio stood in an alley behind a tall building, the night concealing their presence.

"Why is it always so damn hot in Athens?" Taskmaster asked.

He received no response, though there was a smirk on Natasha's face. Instead, she walked up to the door and grabbed the handle. It didn't budge.

"Locked, of course." She said. She was about to get creative, but the Winter Soldier brushed past her and smashed his metal fist into the glass door, shattering it. She stared at him. He shrugged in reply, and stepped through. A guard walked up, looking a little nervous before seeing the intruders. He was knocked out in about two seconds.

"They never learn!" Natasha said, stepping past his unconscious body. She rummaged through the reception desk to find the list of residents.

"Mr. Natchios, floor... 36."

35 flights of stairs later, they clumped in front of the door, slightly out breath. Nods were exchanged, and Taskmaster kicked the door open. A man who had to be Mr. Natchios stood in the center of a rather fancy room, pointing a gun at the intruders. Quick as a flash, Natasha jumped into the air and kicked the gun out of his hand, sending a stray bullet through the glass of a window, flinging shards everywhere. A blow to his chest slammed him to the ground. Lying on his back, he quickly put up his hands.

"W-what do you want?" He stammered.

"You run a S.H.I.E.L.D. warehouse, right?" Natasha asked.

"I o-oversee several, yes." He replied.

"Good to know. We need to know where you shipped a particular item several days ago."

Natasha could see realization dawn upon his face.

"Oh no... You're the people who raided it, aren't you? I-I'm not going to tell you anything!" He said, unconvincingly.

Natasha sighed.

"Look, we really need to find order JVJ-24601. We're going to get it's location from you either way. Why not just tell us?"

Mr. Natchios just shook his head. He yelped suddenly, as the Winter Soldier lifted him off the ground by the back of his shirt. He still seemed determined not to spill. Natasha sighed once more. That won't last long, she thought.

"Tell us now, before this gets ugly." She commanded.

He shook his head again, visibly terrified, but resisting nonetheless.

The Winter Soldier, expressionless once more, suddenly tossed the man into a chest of drawers. Taskmaster walked up to Natchios, who was coughing on the floor, and grabbed him by the front of his shirt.

"Not gonna talk?" He inquired. After a

very brief silence, he slapped him hard across the face. After several more blows, the man relented.

"Okay, I'll talk!" He moaned, dejected by his quick defeat. "It was shipped to on of the bigger S.H.I.E.L.D. facilities. Order from way up." He found a piece of paper and scribbled something onto it in shaky handwriting. "These are the coordinates."

Natasha took the paper, before looking at the other two.

"What do we do with him now?" She asked.

"I've told you everything, just please leave our home!"

"Our" home?

"What did you say?"

"I-I have a daughter."

Natasha was silent for a moment.

"Guys... We can't kill him."

The Winter Soldier said nothing, but his eyes agreed. Taskmaster just shook his head, disbelieving.

"W-what are you going to do?" Mr Natchios asked.

Natasha shook her head. "I don't know. But I can't kill a father."

He let out a relieved breath of air.

"Thank you! Thank you so mu–"

He abruptly gasped, a look of pain and shock on his face. He slumped to the floor as Taskmaster pulled the sword out of the dead man's chest.

The Winter Soldier closed his eyes in remorse, while Natasha just stared at Taskmaster in shock.

"We... We said we'd let him live!"

"No, you said we'd let him live. He heard our entire conversation. Keeping him alive would be stupid. This is the job, remember? We've got to tie up all loose ends."

A door creaked open, interrupting the tense conversation.

"Daddy?" The voice of a little girl.

She stood in a doorway, looking confused at all the noise.

Taskmaster turned toward the sound, and took a step forward, but stopped suddenly when the Winter Soldier stepped in front of him.

"Not children." There was anger in his eyes, although his voice remained calm

as he stared Taskmaster down. There was a tense moment, before Taskmaster backed off.

"Fine." He muttered.

Meanwhile, the girl saw her father's body. She slowly walked up to it.

"Daddy?" When she received no answer, she started to cry, saying that one word over and over.

The Winter Soldier turned to the group.

"We should go." He said quietly.

Before they reached the door, the girl's voice stopped them. On her tear-streaked face was an expression of hatred that should never be seen on a face so young.

"I'm gonna get you." She said quietly, starting at Taskmaster.

He turned away, and quickly walked out the door, followed by the Winter Soldier. Natasha lingered for a moment.

"I'm sorry." She whispered, before following her partners out the door.

Hey guys! This was a big one, I kinda just got sucked into the writing... not sure if that's a good sign. You might be able to tell where I'm going in the future... or maybe not. The build was fun/frustrating, but I think it turned out well.

Thanks guys, and as always, faves, comments, and follows appreciated!

Here is a pretty rare truck from Milwaukee -- A CCC LET2 CCC Branded G&H 2-Split Body Rear Load Garbage Truck. This was my first time seeing a G&H branded CCC. Reason why the body is branded the way it is is because the chassis and body were sold as a package.

Sort of a last-minute grouping that Allen pulled together - the multi-powered comic book characters.

Composite-Superman - half Batman / half Superman = all their abilities

Taskmaster - photographic reflexes; if he sees you do it, he can do it, too

Super-Adaptoid - mimics powers and abilities of heroes and villains within a certain range; is mimicking Captain America, Hawkeye, Thor, Iron Man, and Wolverine

Super-Skrull - has the same powers as the Fantastic Four and can use them in combination with each other (ex. an invisible, stretched out, flaming, rocky fist to punch you out)

Rogue - she a power siphon; is mimicking Archangel, Wolverine, Colossus, and Psylocke

You all kicked ass in these costumes!!

Bob, Taskmaster, Deadpool

Working in progress. Modularized A.I.M. based on [76018] Hulk Lab Smash

Taskmaster: Not overly fond of this one, but I guess it works, a little.

Comic version Thor: I think some of you know who inspired me to create this figure, but I gave it my own twist anyway.

Comic Hawkeye: Now this one I do like, I used the official Lego Hawkeye poster as a template for the decal and I think it turned out good! Loving it!

Tombstone: What can I say, I used Killians torso for Luke Cage and didn't have a use for the overused hair or head, the only unique parts (aside from the torso) so I figured I could use it . Yeah.

I LOVE THIS SET! I love all the minifigures except Thor, I wish he just had his helmet, that would make him way cooler. So I'm going to use him for another Marvel character (Don't give it away, Luigifan10). MODOK is one of my all time favorite supervillains and I'm glad I have him in lego now! I love the new Hulk way more than the last one because of his purple pants. Falcon and Taskmaster are very good additions to my Marvel collection and I like them alot. The AIM base itself is pretty spectacular! So for these reasons, I'm giving it a 9.9999999999999/10 just because Thor didn't have a helmet.

Here is 519 on the 3-5 yellow day route, operated by two pretty awesome guys, Gary n Derek!
