We are pathetic creatures , we humans, we are bothered about our religion, our rituals our customs, we want all this to be shown in the best of pictorial light, I remember a man a devotee of Shri Nagrajputra Jimmyji , who sent me an email, quite disturbed , that I had shown his gurus picture that was at sale at the Kamatipura flea market, this Man requested me to delete the picture I could not as it was not within my control my site was hacked, account frozen, the developer was investigating so what could I do, it had taken more than 10 months , so I decided to shift all my religious posts to Word Press, I was doing it gradually , 6000 posts, I had shifted 2000 , here ,there was a good response in terms of viewership and readership, but here too there was a hitch, no photo galleries where I could keep each section in different cubicles of thought

I was to go shoot the Shai Snan at Allahabad Kumbh , the final one on 23 rd Jan 2007 , than finish this ,catch up with my wife in Lucknow. My tickets were booked my Naga Sadhu friend , mentor Guru Shri Vijay Giri Maharaj was waiting for me , I aborted this trip,, for reasons unknown to me ..

I came to Lucknbow instead.. to revisit my past as a child and the graves of my forefathers scattered at Gufra Map, Rani Malka Jahan graveyard and at Talkatora.

I shot the Lucknow Ashura for the first time ..in my 53 years.

I also gave my visiting cards that had the web address of my tainted sites , I had nothing to hide , than hell broke lose, they saw the dirty pictures that were hacked into my site, but I don’t understand one thing my stuff were in separate galleries so why poke nose into the other galleries , I never proclaimed I was a Shia site , I am a photo journalist , I shot pictures of my faith to show the pain of my community..

Yes I do Tandav , when I scourge ,Tandav is the Dance of Death and Revenge , this was my metaphoric way of coping with Shimr it should not bother others, it should perhaps only bother those who love Shimr and Yazidiyat.,.

So I am really upset, I have not deliberately disgraced my faith or religion, no one has a right to tell me what to shoot.. I am funded by no one.

I will continue shooting all religions , with camera eye proclaiming Truth..

Yes I will never shoot Moharam.. let them shoot who are the torch bearers of my faith.

I will write what is my inherent love for the Ahle Bait..

This site is not catering for any one community, but the ones that I am passionate about..

I reiterate if there was a hint of Karbala in Hinduism I would embrace Hinduism willingly, this is me, I am not scared to air my personal views on the Internet.

I am not and will ever be a congregational man.

My wife, my children. ,my Lucknowi daughter in law , her husband , my elder son have no problem , with my thoughts, so I think others my detractors should stop bothering me …

I never celebrated Moharam for 17 years , the guys who work for me are all Sunnis my main point guy is a Hindu.. , I don’t have any bigoted problem.

With any community per se.

It was camera and photography five years back that bought me to a Ashura Julosos proceeding towards Rehmatabad, I met Baqar Nasser , Habib Nasser who bought me and fine tuned me as a Believer and a Reborn Shia.

Maulana Abbas Irshad proclaimed my love for the Ahle Bait by calling me Moulaiee.,.

I think Allah knows better my credentials as a believer as Truth or as my pretentiousness

My elder son is developing an exclusive Shia site that will house my Shia Images and my Shia poetry….including places where Janabe Sayyada sent me with a hanky to record the love of a race that was exclusively made for Maksade Hussain…through my pictures , including the ones I shot in Lucknow and have not seen as yet..…more than 2000 or so.

These will be last recordings of Moharam..

I believe in live and let live.. mutually.

If I have erred I have not gone defiant but corrected myself with honor without disrespecting the views of my elders.. my parents are dead , in their place I have chosen my father in law Abbas Bhai Qazilbash as my father, my mother in law who I call Mother..

On my home site my poetry , my thoughts are of an adult mature nature, those who think otherwise should keep away from my site…I don’t go to sites that don’t concern me.,.

For the first time in my life I don’t have to be seen or heard from the shoulders of western minarets of Buzznet Bloggererspot or Word Press….

I can stand on my own.

I have taken a lot of bashing as a Blogger , for being a vociferously proud Indian, on western blog sites, I have hit back too, I have been bashed by fundamental elements by Shia Haters and Baiters .for my tirade against Yazidiyat and the genocide in Karbala, that has been deliberately ignored all these years.

I remember one of the last living, members of the Moghul Empire telling that she would go to the Golden Temple to seek forgiveness for the atrocities committed on the Sikhs by her forefathers, I felt like throwing up, as the first people she should ask for forgiveness are the Shias ..

Muslims are Muslims by any other name.

This is the myopic mindlessness of Misplaced Religious priorities.

I have been bashed as a Muslim on Indian Blog sites, my Moharam pictures were deleted at Fotothing and Webshots , but it is the first time I have been bashed for being a Shia by the Shia community..

I cannot stop being a Shia …from within or without.

Let him caste the first stone who is a better Shia than me..

I have also decided not to be buried in a Shia cemetery have pledged my body with all its mental hallucinations, megalomania of my Indianess to Medical research..

Now you will perhaps understand why I dont miss the Sandal procession of Fakhruddin Shah Baba every year.

And it is the first time this sandal I decided only to shoot the Chancawalli Rafaees, normally I shoot other guys doing sword stuff , I gave it a total skip...

But I am not greedy for pictures as a poet I learnt when to end my poem and when to stop shooting as a photographer ..

And I believe if a picture is destined to be shot by me there is no escape for that moment it will reach the internet come what may.

And soon in a few days all this will stop on my photo stream at Flickr, no more fun , no more frolic as a Shia I will go back to my roots , my dress code will become black, no whites no greys..

Minimal jewellery and totlly devoid of it durng Ashra and Chehlum, no more kaif just cutting my head and doing the Tandav on the soul of Shimr and Yazid.

What is Muharram ?

What is Muharram?

Muharram (Arabic: محرم) It is the first month of the Islamic calendar. Instead of joyous celebration, Muslims mark the beginning of the New Year by taking up the black attire of sorrow and participate in mourning gatherings in which the sacrifices of Husayn and his companions are commemorated. It is one of the four months of the year in which fighting is prohibited. Since the Islamic calendar is lunar, Muharram moves from year to year when compared with the Gregorian calendar.

Muharram is so called because it was unlawful to fight during this month; the word is derived from the word ‘haram’ meaning forbidden. It is held to be the most sacred of all the months, excluding Ramadan. It is the same month when Husayn, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, was brutally massacred in Karbala alongside his family and friends in the year 680 CE/61 AH.

Their martyrdom is a sad day for all Muslims, especially the Shi’a, who hold mourning ceremonies to recall the righteous virtues for which the valiant martyrs stood and the grave calamities that they thus had to bear. The commemoration of this brutal massacre (Battle of Karbala) begins on the first day of Muharram and reaches its climax on the 10th of Muharram, the day of the battle, known as Ashurah and continues for 40 days or 69 days.

What is Ashura ?

Ashura (عاشوراء transliteration: ‘Āshūrā’, Ashura, Ashoura, and other spellings) It is on the 10th day of Muharram in the Islamic calendar and marks the climax of the Remembrance of Muharram but not the Islamic month. It is also called Yaumu-l ‘Ashurah, or simply Ashura meaning, ‘the tenth day’.

It is well-known because of historical significance and mourning for the martyrdom of Husayn ibn Ali, the grandson of the Islamic prophet Muhammad at the Battle of Karbala in the year 61 AH (AD 680). It is a day of speeches, public processions, and great grief. Men and women chant and weep, mourning Husayn, his family, and his followers. Speeches emphasize the importance of the values for which Husayn sacrificed himself, his family, and his followers. For centuries Shi’a pilgrims flocked here during Muharram, a practice which was severely limited under the regime of Saddam Hussein

What is Karbala ?

Karbala (Arabic: كربلاء; BGN: Al-Karbalā’; also spelled Karbala al-Muqaddasah) is a city in Iraq, located about 100 km (60 mi) southwest of Baghdad at 32.61°N, 44.08°E.

In the time of Husayn ibn Ali’s life, the place was also known as al-Ghadiriyah, Naynawa, and Shathi’ul-Furaat.The city’s association with Shīˤa Islām have made it a centre of religious instruction as well as worship; it has more than 100 mosques and 23 religious schools, of which possibly the most famous is that of Ibn Fahid, constructed some 440 years ago.

Karbala’s prominence in Shīˤī is the result of the Battle of Karbala, fought on the site of the modern city on October 10, 680.Both Husayn and his half-brother ˤAbbās ibn ˤAlī were buried by the local Banī Asad tribe at what later became known as the Mashhad Al-Husayn. Later on city grew up around the tombs. Husayn’s tomb (View Larger Map) is a place of pilgrimage for many Shīˤa Muslims, especially on the anniversary of the battle, the Day of Āshūrā.

The months of monsoon bring both misery and joy to people. To me, at a very personal level, monsoon brings satisfaction.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tandava

As Nataraja, the Lord of Dance, Lord Shiva comes across as the fiercest yet the most joyful. The Tandava, a hugely popular divine dance form, is believed to have been performed by Shiva. And most of us believe that it represents the most aggressive form of dance.

This is one of my favorite Fotog at all. I took this at the ‘Nav Durga Jagran’ event, held in my home town by my brothers and friends at the recent Navratri festival. My friend invited me to shoot that event. It was my first experience to shoot locally with a DSLR.

During that event it was the last jhanki dance on the Lord Shiva Story at 4:50AM. I enjoyed this dance performance so much. He dances like Lord Shiva comes in his body. Hope you Like this snap of that dance. :)

I am everything male and female, light and dark, flesh and spirit.

Perfectly balanced in one single moment lasting an eternity"

Tāndava or Tāndava nṛtya, the divine art form, is a dance performed by Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. According to Hindu mythology, Shiva’s Tandava is a vigorous dance that is the source of the cycle of creation, preservation and dissolution. While the Rudra Tandava depicts his violent nature, first as the creator and later as the destroyer of the universe, even of death itself; the Ananda Tandava depicts him as the enjoyer of his creation - the universe. In Indian tradition, Lord Shiva as Nataraja (lit. "Lord of dance") is the supreme lord of dance

While Lord Shiva danced in a state of bliss oblivious to the noise of the traffic on Kamraj Road and the general dirt and filith of the Veerapillai street, a helper of the temple priest lit up a quick holy fire.

One of the more endearing self-shoots till date. Looking at myself in the mirror, with an almost Shiva garb on was quite the thing. Bigger and fiercer the eyes and I ended up intimidating myself a few times :)

This self experiment will be executed on another being, once i spot the right "Shiva" - from the outside, from the inside.

This is more than a photograph. This feels beyond divinity.

Maha Shivratri is a Hindu festival celebrated every year in reverence of Lord Shiva. It is also known as padmarajarathri. Alternate common names/spellings include Maha Sivaratri, Shivaratri, Sivarathri, and Shivaratri. Shivaratri literally means the great night of Shiva or the night of Shiva. It is celebrated every year on the 13th night/14th day of the Maagha or Phalguna month of the Hindu calendar. Since many different calendars are followed by various ethno-linguistic groups of India, the month and the Tithi name are not uniform all over India and Nepal. Celebrated in the dark fortnight or Krishna Paksha(waning moon) of the month of Maagha according to the Shalivahana or Gujarati Vikrama or Phalguna according to the Vikrama era.[2][3] The festival is principally celebrated by offerings of Bael or Bilva/Vilvam leaves to Lord Shiva, all-day fasting and an all-night-long vigil. All through the day the devotees, chant the sacred Panchakshara mantra dedicated to Lord "Om Namah Shivaya". In accordance with scriptural and discipleship traditions, penances are performed in order to gain boons in the practice of Yoga and meditation, in order to reach life's summum bonum steadily and swiftly. A week-long International Mandi Shivratri Fair held at Mandi in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh every year is one of the major tourist attractions in the state.[4]

On Mahashivratri, Nishita Kala is the most perfect time to observe Shiva Pooja. On this day, in all Shiva temples, the most auspicious Lingodbhava puja is performed during this time.[5]. In Nepal, Pashupatinath Temple is very famous for celebration of Shivratri.

Rituals of Maha Shivratri

Very early morning, Shiva temples are flocked by devotees, young and old, who come to perform the traditional Shivalinga worship (puja) and hence hope for favours from the god. Devotees bathe at sunrise, preferably in the Ganga, or any other holy water source (like the Shiva Sagartank at Khajurao). This is a rite of purification, which is an important part of all Hindu festivals. Wearing clean clothing after the holy bath, worshippers carry pots of water to the temple to bathe the Shivalinga. Women and men both offer prayers to the sun, Vishnu and Shiva. The temple reverberates with the sound of bells and shouts of “Shankerji ki Jai” meaning 'Hail Shiva'. Devotees circumambulate the lingam three or seven times, and then pour water over it. Some also pour milk over it.

According to the Shiva Purana, the Mahashivaratri worship must incorporate six items:

Bathing the Shiv Linga with water, milk and honey. Wood, apple or bel leaves are added to, which represents purification of the soul;

Vermilion paste is applied to the Shiv Linga after bathing it. This represents virtue;

Offering of fruits, which is conducive to longevity and gratification of desires;

Burning incense, yielding wealth;

The lighting of the lamp which is conducive to the attainment of knowledge;

And betel leaves marking satisfaction with worldly pleasures.

Tripundra refers to the three horizontal stripes of holy ash applied to the forehead by worshipers of Lord Shiva. These stripes symbolise spiritual knowledge, purity and penance (spiritual practice of Yoga). They also represent the three eyes of Lord Shiva.[8]

Wearing a mala (rosary) made from the rudraksha seeds of the rudraksha tree (said to have sprung from the tears of Lord Shiva) when worshipping Lord Shiva is ideal. A rudraksha seed is mahogany-like color, or could sometimes be black. They might also have traces of sacred sandalwood powder, turmeric, kumkum, or holy ash if the rosary is used in worship ceremonies or annointations.

How To Perform Fellatio

Whether you use the technical term fellatio or call it a blow job, going down on a man, or giving him head, performing fellatio is an act that requires a lot of trust and a little bit of knowledge. Social messages about fellatio suggest that guys love it so much they don’t care about technique. In reality there is a lot of variation in fellatio skills, and knowing how to read your partner, what to do to him, and when to do it can make all the difference…

Time Required: Fellatio can be fast and dirty or slow and seductive, no set time required.

Here's How:

1.Start him off nice and clean.

Social stigma seems to focus on the taste of women’s genitals more than men’s. In fact men can smell and taste just as strong as women. If you're new to fellatio, you might be worried about taste and smell. If so, suggest a sexy bath or shower together and start with a clean slate. You can also add a bit of flavored personal lubricant to his penis or put on a flavored condom, which is great for safer oral sex.

2.Physical comfort is key.

You can’t have fun and perform well if you’re not physically comfortable, and fellatio can put a strain on your neck and jaw. Kneeling before him on a pillow, while he’s standing or sitting, gives you good range of motion and plenty of access. If you’ve had bad experiences with fellatio where you felt lack of control, have him on his back and crouch in between his legs. Giving head can put you in a major power position, if you like that feeling then go for it.

3.Tease him with touch.

Using your hands first, gently caress his inner thighs, penis, testicles, and perineum, paying attention to his reactions (verbal and facial) as you touch certain spots. The most sensitive spot on a guy’s penis is the head (known as the glans), especially the frenulum, an indentation between the glans and the shaft on the underside of the penis. You might want to brush up on your knowledge of male sexual anatomy , to know what you’re working with.

4.Give him a lick.

Follow up with your tongue, exploring the same terrain using slow wide strokes with your tongue. Don’t be afraid to use lots of saliva, as this natural lube feels great and helps create friction and suction. There are many STDs that can be passed during fellatio, using flavored condoms is a great way to practice safer sex and deal with any taste you may not like. It is also a perfect way to get guys who say they have difficulty with condoms, to gladly put one on.

5.Take him in your mouth.

When he’s semi-erect, slowly guide your lips over the tip of his penis, making sure your lips cover your teeth as you slide gently down his shaft as far as you’re comfortable. Keep your mouth taut, as the pressure from your lips will feel great as they glide down the penis. Putting him in your mouth before he is fully erect is a good way of getting comfortable with the size of his penis, particularly if he is in the larger range.

6.Watch the gag reflex.

If you’re not adept at deep throat (taking the whole penis in your mouth), don’t try it or you’ll trigger the gag reflex. It’s not necessary and a similar effect can be achieved with the hand and mouth technique described below. With practice, you can learn to relax your gag reflex and take in more of the penis.

7.Use your mouth and tongue.

As your head travels up the underside of the penis, flatten your tongue so it gives his frenulum a nice wide, wet stroke. Don’t be afraid to try different types of licks or kisses—the lips feel good when popped over the ridge of the penis—but perform each stroke repeatedly before changing to give consistent pleasure.

8.Have fun with the foreskin.

If your partner is uncircumcised, insert your tongue into the foreskin and circle around the head with it. You can also use your fingers to gently massage the head through the foreskin, alternating with deep tongue licks.

9.Using your mouth and hand, tip #1.

A great blow job incorporates both hands and mouth. Place one hand around the shaft of his penis while you move up and down on the top half of his penis. Try coordinating your movements so your hand and mouth are going up and down in unison. If you're partner is thrusting, your hand will prevent his penis from being pushed too far into your mouth.

10.Using your mouth and hand, tip #2.

If he likes this combination, bring your hand all the way up the shaft (following your mouth), remove your mouth briefly, use your palm to slide and twist over the head (as if you were juicing an orange), and then glide your hand back down followed by your mouth again. Repeat.

11.Let him come.

When he’s ready to orgasm, keep your movements consistent and firm—don’t slack off. Once he starts ejaculating, see him through with a few strokes and then stop, as most men don’t want continued stimulation once they’ve ejaculated and had an orgasm.

12.To swallow or not to swallow?

This decision is entirely up to you. There's nothing wrong with you if you don't want to, but it's nice to let your partner know it's nothing personal. If you don't want to swallow, and you aren’t familiar with the signs of imminent ejaculation , let him know you want a warning. Remove your mouth as he's about to ejaculate, and continue hand stroking through his orgasm.

Tips:

1.Don’t forget the rest of his body. The scrotum and testicles (balls) are particularly sensitive, and most men like them to be stimulated. Try lightly licking or touching his testicles during oral sex. He might also like them to be cradled gently in one of your hands. Some men go wild when you place your hand around the top of the scrotum and gently tug down.

2.You can also apply pressure to his perineum (the spot between his anus and his penis) with one or two fingers, as this also can feel good.

3.He might like wearing a butt plug during fellatio for added prostate stimulation. Or you can apply pressure to his anus with one of your fingers.

I start a new set at Flickr , my Kama matam, or head cutting on Chehlum 2009 , shot by Baqar Nassar, I will have to divide Chehlum in 3 series , one is of my Kama Matam, second of Maulana Abbas Irshads Chehlum majlis at Moghul Masjid, and after the majlis the Juloos begins , from Moghul Masjid to Rehmatabad Shia cemetery at Mazgaon,

Habib Nassars Iraqi Kama Matam Anjuman leads the way, normally I stay with this Anjuman, and than after my Kama Matam, I move ahead to shoot the Zanjir Matam on the Bridge , this would be Set No2 .

Set No 3 is the hardcore zanjir and kama Matam inside the Rehmatabad Shia cemetery , this is bloody and gory so use your discretion while seeing the pictures...

I shot about 6 GB memory cards I think..

I will not be able to cross blog all this to my Shia site Shah Ast Hussain , so you will have to see all this at Flickr, all this part of my Shia Collection pictures.

See this sets that pertain to Shiasm , as a photo journalist blogger I shoot other religiosity and gender based community..

Girish Mistrys students were shooting the event dressed in black and bare feet I had informed him of this event last night.

Though he worries unnecessarily about my head cutting and my diabetic condition..

Girish Mistry is a wheel chair bound photographer Dean of Shari Photo Academy.

On Chehlum , you get to see a unique race of devout Shias the Baluchis of Maharashtra.

Their children are beautiful, the women dress in black clothes and look like gypsies.

Last but not the least I missed my mentor American Dr Glenn Losack MD from Manhattan , he shot this procession last year.

My right hand wrist got accidentally cut by a flagellating blade and needed medical attention, its a deep cut, but no ointment was applied on the deep wound , just a tourniquet to stop the blood.

I was away from congregational religion for several years , and this was because I was a alcoholic , and in very troubled state of mind .. and had God my family not saved me in time I was a whisker away from the lunatic asylum.. hope was lost..and all this was about 17 years back..I decided to give up drinking..the doctor suggested I take up something to divert my mind from booze ,I took up photography, as I am not a sportsperson , I was a voracious reader but diabetes made it difficult ,photography those days was about money, I bought Nikon camera F50 and later F100 ..I shot color , mostly slides Velvia 50 that cost a bomb I shot Ilford Delta 100 ASA..

I had been away from my religious path for many years so I decided to shoot Moharam for myself to go back to my roots , go back to all the Shia moments I had lost in life because of my attachment to the bottle.. I was lucky I met Habib Nasser and their group, and showed me the various segments of Moharam ..

My family is strict Shia I was the black sheep., Nasser of Lucky Hotel helped me climb the gates of Amin Imambada and with a single camera , I shot Ashura at Amin , shooting color slide and BW ..35 to 40 rolls at one go,,, the processing and the printing cost me a bomb , but I used these prints to showcase at International and National photography Salons ,, with my two main Gurus late Prof BW Jatkar and eminent Guru Mr KG Maheshwari.. I posted my pictures of Moharam as photo journalism tried to show the world the tryst of pain of the persecuted Shia race .. blood sweat and tears ..but I respected shot my neighbors my friends religion too as passionately as my own..

The amount of money I spent processing at Color Art , Colorama Mazda ,Mitter Bedi ,Huzefer Rassiwala , Mahindar Patil ,Fuji Films Tardeo, Vishal Bhende .. is something I dont want to think of but yes the F100 that I bought for Rs 69000 with battery pack, and a 50mm lens 1.4 I sold to Piramal Art Gallery for their exhibit section for Rs 4000 ..and my wife always told me one thing what do you get out of photography, I never made a single cent I could not think of selling my pictures even though I got awards etc I considered them amateurish stuff .. but I had my main profession tailoring that kept the fires burning at home ,, I never had any other source of income no sugar daddy..

And today my wife wants me to destroy all my slides negatives , as she terms them useless , she pulls them out over 1000 or more and the prints and than she says Kya QAbar Main Lekar Jaoge .. I manage to cool her down and back they go under a bed bug infested bed.

So in short I took up photography to heal my wounds , I have in all these years never touched a drop of booze ..because blogging became booze , if you have done some Nasha you will know what I am talking about.. My Moharam documentary was my catharsis , my path, online I used Hindu terminology Tandav etc for my friends who could not understand why I cut myself .. I am not a preacher but I tried to convey my pain and pain of other matamdars through pictures , and the pain was not our wounds but the wounds perpetrated on the Holy Family at Karbala ..Our Blood was our protest ,, and you have to have some poetic sensitivity to understand all this if you are uneducated crass and bigot even if you are a Shia you will not understand this anguish.. my grand children understand it and are ready to cut their heads dont ask me why.. I have not brainwashed them.. they are more intelligent me ,,

My blog sites my Shia pictures have been hacked several times at Wordpress and at Buzznet , so I housed everything at Flickr since 2007 ..in sets collections 55000 images on Shiasm , 50000 images on Hinduism.. I dont have to give any disclaimer about my character , or my beliefs to people who have never fed me or my family , we belong to no Anjuman we are self made people we struggled to reach where we are today with humility and gratitude of God and Ahle Bayt.

Now what hurts me most people accuse me and my friend of selling Shia pictures , I wont to first ask you give me the name of the Agency that will buy all my Shia images,, pay me by cheque I will give the entire amount to charity...I dont want a single cent forget what I spent on my camera equipment time etc,..The money I give to charity wont be just the Shias but also those affected by riots and famine and thunderstorms I cant be a bigot when I give charity that does not belong to me and I would leave this worthy cause in the hands of people who are in this field as holistic healers of society..

I shot the Maha Kumbh I have shot the bomb blasts I have shot Shree Balasahebs Funeral , but I am shocked when some idiot says we make money selling pictures .. I have yet to get my wifes jewelry from the pawn shop for mistakes I made in some of my business transactions I have yet to pay back friends who helped me financially ,,

And maybe I will completely stop shooting pictures Photography showed me a world but it does not govern my life or my Faith .. The #Sangestar Tso (Tso means lake in Tibetan language), popularly known as the Madhuri Lake, is located on the way from #Tawang to #BumLaPass in Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh, near Indo-China border 13000 ft above sea level. It was an open pasture before 1971. A devastating earthquake in 1971 gave birth to this divine lake. The skeletons of the trees still stand as a testimony of that nature’s Nataraj tandav. Standing like rocks for past 40 years, they create an enigmatic ambience (if only one has senses to absorb the enigma). The area is completely under Army surveillance and calls for a special army permit for visit. It was sub-zero temperature even in Oct. Visitors were busy to quickly get some selfies done, before sneaking in the army-run Caffee for some warmth. As is usual with me, I run to the opposite direction and sneak in a forest beside the lake instead. I avoid humans as much as I can, for such moments are precious and are meant to be spent with the mother nature. No compromise and no negotiations on that, please! In most tourist places, majority of the tourists seem like are noise-makers and peace-breakers. They destroy the divinity and disrespect the sanctity. The more I am away from crowd, the more close I become to the divine.

So away from the crowd, I enter the forest and settle on a quiet bank of the lake. I do some crime and take my 5-year old with me for the adventure. Our fingers are freezing and noses are turning red, as if we have got wasp-bites on the crown of our nose. We spot some golden ducks, a rare species, that can be spotted in very few high-altitude lakes. This lake is one such. Every moment is getting unbearable due to the chilly wind. So I quickly finish the photo-session with the kid and pack her off with the rest of the gang to the warmth of our car. Next, it's just me and the lake :) I came all the way from Bangalore to be with you. Now is the moment! Just you and me. The clouds are caressing the mountains like love-lorn twain and the sun is playing luka-chupi with the clouds. It was highly romantic ambience. The perfect stage of Kalidasa’s meghnadbadh kavya is all set. I knew something is underway and the nature is going to unfold something that is special, rare and and just for me. As such, everything around is beautiful. But my eyes are hungry for more. For every frame, I look for a spark. And the spark came down as the rays of the Sun piercing the clouds. Just for few seconds and after that everything was mundane! I know these few seconds are just for me. They are divine gifts. One can debar me from all earthly possessions, but what about these moments?

And lastly, the pain of carrying 10kg on my back bore some fruit: the frame that I bring to you straight

from the heaven!

I shot this Picture in a Yakshagana/Aataa (a Dance/Drama Performance that Depicts Story's from Hindu Epics and Puranas) performance an Art form from my Native Land Manglore.

For last few days i was Researching for this Picture, it was an Intense one

the Topics i covered was Shiva, Rudra, Tandav, Third Eye, Enlightenment, Faith, Spirituality and many more, So in the End i had a Large amount of Data on this Subject, to be Precise the final Edited Data on this Subject was of 87 pages. During this process i learned a lot on Spirituality and the more i learned the more it got Complicated. So explaining all this Rationally in few words was not Possible.

But i found the way in a book named "Devi's Emerald". See i am not a Spiritual Person, what all spirituality i have learned is through this book, and just few lines in this book explained to me, the confusion i created in 87 page.

So here's are those lines from this book: "Go into the Basics; be Simple; go in a small way and try to understand Him in a Simple Manner. Don't try to go too deep into Spiritualism. Forget Mantras and Tantras. We don't have to get involved in all this; and who has the timeto get into all this Stuff. Say simple Prayers and that is Enough."

So does the above article explains anything about the Picture you might say No, but for me it was a journey to a lesson that i learned through this Picture.

Now I know I look like an escaped convict of the Pygmy tribe , but than I am only good when I am clothed..

I was going to post this at the end after completing the Rehmatabad Chehlum series ..2009 but I jumped the gun, to show you the holistic power of self healing.

The hand wound because of my diabetic condition is healing very slowly and besides wounds at the extremities takes much time.

This is my wound the next morning after I had slashed my head in a Shia ritual called Kama Zani.

This is after I had taken a bath, the bleeding had not stopped..all the pictures shot by my daughter Samiya..

I have not applied any ointment, no septic shot, only my hand wound I am applying Bethadene.. because of my diabetic condition I am not taking any chances. Its the same right hand that I cut a tendon while doing a sword Matam in Delhi during Chehlum three years back.

I have deep furrows on my head , I never wanted to slash my had earlier as I had dread locks and dread extensions, its after I became bald in Lucknow during Athvi a few years back that I began cutting myself.

May the blessings of Lord Shiva always be with you.

Mahashivratri (also known as Shivaratri) is a Hindu festival dedicated to Shiva, who destroys the universe, one of the deities of the Hindu Trinity.

While most Hindu festivals are celebrated during the day, Mahashivratri is celebrated during the night and day that come just before the new moon.

Each new moon is dedicated to Shiva, but Mahashivratri is especially important because it is the night when he danced the 'Tandav', his cosmic dance.

It also celebrates the wedding of Shiva and Sati, the mother divine. Night represents evil, injustice, ignorance, sin, violence, and misfortune.

Tradition says that Shiva, like his symbol the new moon, appeared in order to save the world from darkness and ignorance, before the world entered complete darkness.

Devotees of Shiva observe a fast during Mahashivratri and stay up all night at a place of worship.

Shiva is offered special food made from the fruits of the season, root vegetables, and coconuts, during ritual worship.

Those who observe the Mahashivratri fast only break their fast the next morning, and eat the prasad (food offerings) offered to Shiva.

Young girls observe the fast and worship Shiva so that he may bless them with good husbands. They sing devotional songs in praise of the lord, and holy texts are chanted throughout the night.

The pandits in the temples perform the puja (religious worship) according to the scriptures. This is done four times during the night.

In temples, Shiva linga - the phallic symbol of Lord Shiva - is worshipped. Devotees flock to the temples to perform the ritual of bathing the Shiva linga.

It is bathed with milk, water and honey, and then anointed with sandalwood paste, and decorated with flowers and garlands.

Picture is taken by my shop help, who is becoming a better photographer than me .

Nowadays in Mumbai there is a trend to damage peoples reputation , malign them online , write stupid damning articles on Wassup , and instigate one Shia against another Shia by hardcore anti Human Shia bigots who exist only to cause mischief and rake up issues that are figments of their corrupt evil mind , for a long time I have kept quiet , but being a blogger , a person who respects all communities shoots documents all faith without selling pictures , I am a hobbyist photographer , with 290000 images housed at Flickr..I shot photos of various faith purely as photo journalism, I have never proselytized my Faith as a Shia , but I am a Shia and I cant change the humility of my birth.. born in the womb of a Syed Shia Mother .. descendant of poet Mir Anees.

I am not a member of any group , I owe allegiance to no Anjuman or Shia factions ..The Shias mourn for Moharam when Moharam begins my Moharam never ends I wear only black clothes , and I dont need a character certificate from a Maulana as much as I respect them I think they are as human as the next person.. I am not a groupie and I have been bought among Christian and Hindus , all our servants in those early years at Wodehouse Road were Christians or Maharashtrian maids and they imbibed great values ..so I cannot borrow your narrow mindedness or your lack of secular understanding, I was lucky inspite of uneducated parents I studied in a European school and the Convent education made me a good human being I think so, I am not a criminal so I hate being blackened online by hate filled Shia bigots how I do Matam, or how I call it Tandav is the terminology of my cultural inheritance .. and honestly I am proud to be a Shia with his roots embedded in Hindustan the land even our Imam loved immensely , so poetically I began calling myself Hindu Shia or a Shia Pandit and after seeing my Hindu friends scourging their backs on Ashura , crying with me I took a vow I will shoot their Faith and I shoot it as passionately as my own..

I owe no explanation to those Shias who were nowhere in sight when we lost our home our belongings during the 93 Riots , it was my Hindu friends who helped me and my Hindu bosses who saw that I stood up on my feet again.. I did go to the office of a famous Shia builder but he could not help us , is part of my cosmic fate ..

So abusing us online , does not do much if on the other hand you talk about Hussain is Humanity and tell me what have you contributed to humanity .. forget the poor Shias , have you forged ties with your neighbor or you just want to be divert attention from your own child abuse , the hammerings you got , so now you are turning your ire and venom on other Shia who have nothing to do with you.. Please grow up.. and get your facts right , or do you have some personal enmity or did the Shia Wahabbis pay you to malign us so that we stop shooting Shia pictures .. what is your evil agenda or is this your Door of Knowledge that leads through hatredness , yes my grand children are better Shias than you will ever be in your lifetime yes they recognize Jesus Lord Ganesha and they shoot Hindu Temples Churches because I dont want them to end up as you losers in life ..

You have destroyed the minds of young children against Azadari, because you hate us bleeding , it chills your own evil blood , you bring in Israel, and what has Israel against Indian Shias .. you madman hallucinating son of a sea cook..I have friends from all over the world shooting Moharam , is it your fundamental right to stop them , you coward you cant stop the killings of Shia all over the world and you want to stop our matam s .. is this what your mother father your spiritual leaders taught you , hitting out at others in a hijab without your name , you faceless Shia bigot coward..

Go to Hyderabad , go to Chennai go to Kolkattta go to Delhi see their fervor see their love for the Imam , their path of humanity, perhaps than will you know the real meaning of Ghame Hussain and Maksade Hussain..

I hope and pray to our Imam to add a bit of sanity to your brain , and make you normal.. you are a danger to cosmopolitan society and a greater insult to Shiasm than me calling myself Hindu Shia .. or doing Tandav on the Soul of Shimr...

Yes I am proud of what I am.. my Karbala is my Motherland and unlike your warped brains I celebrate Ashura everyday..

It is stated that when Lord Shiv performed the Tandav dance, the head of Sati fell on this mountain.

In the backdrop of the Surajkund lake, during the spring season, every year from February 1–15, a colorful traditional craft festival of India is held in the precincts of Surajkund. This fair was first started in 1987. Traditional craftsman (artists, painters, weavers and sculptors) from all parts of the country participate in this annual celebration named as the “Surajkund Crafts Mela” or "Surajkund designer’s Village”. Designer items created by 50 best designers and craftsmen in wood, metal, bamboo, iron, glass, textiles and stone can be seen here. This Mela (fair) is visited by lovers of arts and crafts from all over the world. The fair is held with a different theme every year on Indian culture and crafts.

The theme, specific to a state of India, is depicted at the entrance to the Mela grounds and provides an ambience of that particular state with characteristic colors, materials, architecture, furniture and decorations. The crafts on display in the stalls (400) is of particular crafts of that state. The Mela also includes a food festival covering some of the popular cuisines from different parts of the country. Entertainment in the form of famous rhythms and dance of folk theatre are also held here during the festival

During 2009, with Madhya Pradesh as the theme state, 50 crafts' persons from SAARC countries, Thailand and Egypt also participated in the Mela. The show was titled "Hemvati-Khajuraho" as a part of the 23rd annual Surajkund Crafts Fair event. Sanchi Stupa, (a world heritage site in Madhya Pradesh) formed the backdrop for the festival.

Shiva Tandava Stotram (शिवताण्डवस्तोत्रम्) is a hymn of praise in the Hindu tradition that describes Shiva's power and beauty. It was sung by the son of Rishi Vishrawas (aka Vishrava), Ravana whose brother is Kubera. Both the fourth and fifth quatrains of this hymn conclude with lists of Shiva's epithets as destroyer, even the destroyer of death itself. Alliteration and onomatopoeia create roiling waves of resounding beauty in this example of Hindu devotional poetry.

In the final quatrain of the poem, after tiring of rampaging across the Earth, Ravana asks, "When will I be happy?" Because of the intensity of his prayers and ascetic meditation, of which this hymn was an example, Ravana received from Shiva the boon of indestructibility by all powers on heaven and earth — except by a human being. Disdaining the seeming weakness of humans, Ravana abducted the wife of Rama, Lord Vishnu incarnate. India's great epic, the Ramayana, tells the story of this abduction and of the battle between Lord Rama and Ravana which shook the universe.

Ravana

It is said that when he was tired of rampaging across the earth, Ravana returned to Lord Shiva to request moksha, release from the bondage of endless rebirth. Shiva replied that he had granted Ravana the boon of indestructibility, and that Ravana must instead seek moksha from Lord Vishnu. In this version of Ravana's story, his battle with Rama can be interpreted as a pretext to attain death, and through death, liberation. Ravana's poignant cry in the final quatrain of poetry — "When will I be happy?" is echoed by modern man in his quest for earthly fulfillment and ultimate liberation from its bondage.

A compelling and complex personality, Ravana is for many Hindus a legendary hero, a scholar of immense intelligence and the devoted husband of one of traditional five perfect women, Mandodari. Exploring the modern psychological aspects of this story, choreographer Janaki Patrik links Ravana's passionate devotion to Lord Shiva to his fatal flaw — passionate attraction to Rama's wife Sita. Attraction was as pure as a love of mother and child.

Ravana's great-grandfather was Brahma (God of Ultimate Knowledge). He had advanced knowledge of mathematics, science and Ayurveda. He was obsessed with his powers and was egoistic, and to display and prove his powers he was about to move Mount Kailash (the abode of Shiva who was his ancestor god). He managed to lift the mountain but Shiva immediately placed it back just by pressing his toe crushing Ravana's fingers in the process. That is when Ravana sings "Tandav Stotra" and he was spared and blessed with chandrahas (moon sword by Lord Shiva) considered one of the most powerful weapons in Hindu Mythology.

Across the river the Hampi Utsav was underway, entertaining its audience through music, dance and drama performances. As I got on the boat ferrying me to Hampi, I wondered if my view of a river dotted with boulders, a vast series of steps rising from the banks, and tall coconut trees almost hiding the massive temple gopuram matched what the Vijayanagara residents saw centuries ago.

There were nudges everywhere to imagine an earlier time. When Portuguese traveller Domingo Paes visited in the early 16th century, he had crossed the same river on boats that were “round like baskets.” 500 years later, coracle boats continue to navigate the waters of Hampi. And there was the Virupaksha Temple, of course, which predated and outlasted the Vijayanagara Empire and is still incredibly intact in a place that was reduced to ruins by war.

As I reached the temple, a number of drummers in bright green shirts and white dhotis tapped a high-tempo beat. A group of women in orange saris marched out carrying fake swords, and formed a circle around a woman dressed as Shiva. And as the afternoon sun raged, Shiva danced the tandav, a dance that had emerged out of the sadness and anger the god had felt at the death of his first wife, Sati.

Maybe the tandav was a nod to the past too. According to legend, Sati was reborn several times and was reunited with Shiva in each birth. One of her incarnations was Pampa Devi, a river deity worshipped in these parts. Today, even though the river is called the Tungabadhra, Pampa’s legacy lives on. The town of Hampi, the seat of the once illustrious Vijayanagara Empire, is after all named in her honour.
