Great to finally get out after a particularly difficult month for us. The dog was suitably impressed snapping at fresh air and running through the dunes whilst we patiently waited for sunset sat at the top of the beach. I got to test out the new Aeropress coffee maker. Need to remember to take something to place the used coffee grounds in but other than that it worked great.
Fair to say I was a little rusty after some time off but a thoroughly enjoyable couple of hours and a pleasant sunset.
With sunrise becoming earlier and earlier each day, bit of a shock to the system getting up and out in what felt like the middle of the night!
Happy Sliders Sunday 😊
Sunrise at Talacre Beach.
Fairly chilly this morning on the dog walk. Empty beach for well over a hour so Gracie got to run around which in turn meant I could take a little more time over things. Great morning all round.
With no low cloud forecast on most of the apps I use I had an early start yesterday and headed for Talacre. The storm to the left is out over the wind farm in Liverpool Bay.
After several days of being questioned like you were about to dump some illegally imported weapons grade plutonium at the local recycling centre I had a pleasant hour alone on the beach before cracking on with the creosoting. What joyous fun that job is!
The song is from Air and is called All I Need and it's what I was listening to at the time.
Lyrics and band name both seemed apt to me.
Taken the same morning as the image I posted a couple of days ago after the dog had ran herself into the ground.

Still my favourite lighthouse, you can always count on Talacre for a nice pool of water and a good sunset. For once I was also really pleased to have this chap walk through my scene :-)

Yep, here's Lola pretending to be the Great Sphinx of Giza. There is sand, check, she has the right pose, check, the lighthouse is barely a substitute for the great pyramids, so, no check but you can't blame her for trying!
I got a whole series of shots at this time using my 10-24mm wide angle lens - had great fun with it and even though there is some distortion I think that just adds to the craziness of it!
I'll probably post another in the future but for now she can have her moment of fantasy - we all need those! Have a fab week ahead friends

Moments before the heavens opened and lashed me around the chops with cheek piercing hail stones.
I've heard about this place over the years but hadn't had chance to visit until the beginning of this year.........it was raining too then......seems to be a beach to watch the weather roll in.......and get caught in it!

And hail.....and biting winds! Taken Talacre Beach, North Wales while waiting for a break in the weather so we could make a run back to the car!! Still got wet though!
Though 'H' was at his dad's the weekend past, I was feeling a bit meh ....and a bit frozen so even though it would really do me no good I didn't go out Saturday bar Hero's little walks, the little shop down the road and a quick venture to the front garden for some macro.....By Sunday I was a right grumpy sod- so with warnings I'd be late back for 'H's drop off I went for my weekend walkies - sorry I meant I took Hero for his weekend walkies 😁

Having not messed up for some time I did it in spades on this evening. First I left my phone at home and I'm sad to say it made me realise just how much I've grown to depend on it. Just little things like planning to get a coffee from the McDonalds on the A55 and then following the Sat Nav from there down to Talacre.
Second I remembered to do everything before coming out except to put the battery back in my camera and my spare battery was on charge at home. Fortunately I had the other camera with me which I rarely do these days.
And thirdly I misread the sign on the car park and found myself locked in when I got back to the car. Couldn't find a pen to note the emergency number down that was on the locked gate and no phone to take a picture so had to memorise it.
There had been one other photographer up wind from me and he must've had the loudest beep for his timer I've ever heard and it was shot after shot of beep, beep, beep, beep, click. Five seconds later the same and this went on for 30 minutes+. There was also a lady walking her dog on the lead who kept shouting 'Oswald, Oswald, Oswald, come on boy, good boy, Oswald, Oswald, Oswald...'
He's on the bloody lead right next to you wtaf? then beep beep beep beep click.
So I still had those noises going around my head whilst repeating over and over the telephone number and deciding whether I could knock on someone's door at 10 O'clock at night. I decided against that instead opting for finding a late night dog walker on one of the many caravan parks. I finally found one and he kindly let me use his phone.
Security were fairly quick to be fair and when he arrived he slammed the car door and marched up to me with a very stern looking face and motioned for me to wind the window down.
"Under paragraph 3.1, sub section 2, directive 5 of the 1978 guidance laid out in the subsequent parliamentary act..." Oh shit, oh shit I'm going to have to pay a fixed penalty notice to be let out..... "I hereby inform you that unfortunately I'm unable to let you out unless you can provide me and the lads with Cornish pasties or at the bare minimum pork pies!"
Phew, what a guy:) An experience I don't wish to repeat!

Point of Ayr or Talacre Lighthouse
I had a drive out at the weekend. Went to Betws-y-coed and on my way home stopped at Talacre Beach as I've not been there, for... geez 2013 wow that long!
Had a play with the moving grasses in the sand dunes. Enjoyed it.

TALACRE. Another iconic North Wales location, Point of Ayr lighthouse on Talacre Beach. My first visit on a bit of a gloomy day, so opted for a simple shot and an x-pan crop.

Point of Ayr lighthouse stands on the beach near Talacre. Built in 1776, and inactive since 1883, this brick tower of 18 metres is surrounded by water at high tide. Maintained by Flintshire County Council, the lighthouse is in a good state of repair, but is not open to the public.
The Point of Ayr Lighthouse, also known as the Talacre Lighthouse, is a grade II listed building situated on the north coast of Wales, on the Point of Ayr, near the village of Talacre. There is a history of paranormal activity being recorded in and around Talacre Lighthouse. One incident involved the reported sighting of a person dressed in old fashioned clothes standing on the balcony of the lighthouse itself. Psychics visiting the site on a separate occasion reported contact with a spirit called Raymond who was once a lighthouse man before dying of a fever.

I so enjoyed my time at Talacre beach I'm afraid there will probably be a few more lighthouse shots before I'm done. Hope you enjoy!
What was supposed to be a simple drive up from Worcester to Talacre to photograph the lighthouse at sunrise turned up to be a frustrating game of follow the diversion. Even the local bobby pulling the 4am shift could not offer any help in the matter.
We did finally make it and it was a bit of a dash to get to the beach. Image was grabbed just as the sun was about to pip the horizon
First time visit to Talacre beach today, got up at stupid o'clock to get over there to catch the sunrise.Conditions weren't perfect but then again when are they? ;)
Took a few shots, this is the first.
Thanks for looking,
Chris.

All in all a challenging and difficult shoot for me.
