Solidarity from Zuccotti Park to Gezi Park. Occupy Wall Street and members of New York City's Turkish community gathered in Occupy's old base in Zuccotti Park near Wall Street on June 8 to protest the Turkish government's bloody crackdown on peaceful protesters. What began as an effort to preserve a small park in Istanbul's Taksim Square has become a national campaign against Turkey's increasingly authoritarian Islamic government. In New York protesters mount daily demonstrators at the Turkish Consulate demanding the resignation of the Erdogan government and a halt to state violence.

Eyüp Sultan Mosque & Abu Ayyub al-Ansari's Cemetery
The Eyüp Sultan Mosque (Turkish: Eyüp Sultan Camii) is situated in the district of Eyüp on the European side of Istanbul, near the Golden Horn, outside the Walls of Constantinople. Built in 1458, it was the first mosque constructed by the Ottoman Turks following their conquest of Constantinople in 1453.
The mosque rises next to the place where Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (Turkish: Eyüp Sultan), the standard-bearer of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, is said to have been buried during the Arab assault on Constantinople in 670. His tomb is greatly venerated by Muslims, attracting many pilgrims. Some of the personal belongings of Muhammad are preserved in the tomb.

This is the low life con man who hitched on to me and tried to con me. And he stuck on to me like a leech right from the Tunel train way before Istiqlal. I told him lay off buddy, I know all about your scams. He tried to pull me into beer parlours for a drink but fortunately most bar owners probably knew him and told him that there is no space as all seats are reserved. I finally told him to scoot. He wanted TL 200 for that asking for fair renumeration for his 'guiding service'. I finally had to give him € 50 and asked him to get lost. I was a bit shaken but relieved, but decided to end my visit to Taksim there, after 20min.(Istanbul, Turkey, Nov. 2014)
Occupy Wall Street demonstrates in support of Turkish resistance. Hundreds of people

Bars on the side streets of Istiqlal St. in Istanbul. These bars are notorious for having con men direct single men inside. The con men then exhibit 'extreme hospitality' by buying you a couple of drinks, as 'you are our guest' and then gets girls to join them and then present you with a bill for US$ 1500- 3000. Bouncers then threaten or intimidate you and make you withdraw whatever you have from the nearest Atm. My con man tried to get me to sit down for a drink, but I refused. At any rate, most bar owners told him all seats are full or reserved- they were probably used to him and his devious ways. (Istanbul, Turkey, Nov. 2014)

Taksim Square (Turkish: Taksim Meydanı), situated in the European part of Istanbul, Turkey, is a major tourist and leisure district famed for its restaurants, shops, and hotels. It is considered the heart of modern Istanbul, with the central station of the Istanbul Metro network. Taksim Square is also the location of the Monument of the Republic (Turkish: Cumhuriyet Anıtı) which was crafted by Pietro Canonica and inaugurated in 1928. The monument commemorates the 5th anniversary of the foundation of the Republic of Turkey in 1923, following the Turkish War of Independence..

If you are visiting Turkey and especially Istanbul, it is a must to visit a Turkish Delight Shop. You should try as much different kind as possible of Turkish candies.
