This piece of art golden statue was created by the Japanese artist ‘Takashi Murakami’ and placed for display at the front yard of the ‘Royal Palace of Versailles, Paris’ (2007 ~ 2010).
Takashi Murakami is a Japanese contemporary artist. He works in fine arts media as well as commercial and is known for blurring the line between high and low arts. He coined the term "superflat," which describes both the aesthetic characteristics of the Japanese artistic tradition and the nature of postwar Japanese culture and society, and is also used for Murakami's artistic style and other Japanese artists he has influenced. La fondation Louis-Vuitton, anciennement "fondation d'entreprise Louis-Vuitton pour la création" lancée en octobre 2005, est une fondation d'entreprise créée par le groupe LVMH et ses maisons. Elle a pour objectif de pérenniser les actions de mécénat engagées depuis 1990 par le groupe.
Le bâtiment objet de la fondation est un musée, conçu par l'architecte Frank Gehry, situé au Jardin d'acclimatation, dans le bois de Boulogne à Paris. Il est notamment consacré à l'art moderne et l'art contemporain.
En 2001, Bernard Arnault rencontre Frank Gehry et lui confie le projet de conception et de création de l'édifice de la fondation. Frank Gehry visite le jardin. Il imagine alors une architecture de verre inspirée par le Grand Palais, mais aussi par les structures de verre, telles que le palmarium, qui ornaient le Jardin d'acclimatation dès 1893. Sous la main de l'architecte, l'édifice en verre prend l'allure d'un voilier aux voiles gonflées par le vent d'ouest, donnant ainsi l'illusion du mouvement.

There are many things going wrong with the world always but if you don't have a sense of wonder, living is no longer worthwhile in the first place.
Though I am a big fan of Haruki Murakami as well as Ryu Murakami, this is actually a multiple exposure based on the art of Takashi Murakami from the Museum of Contemporary Art. The current exhibit is entitled The Octopus Eats Its Own Leg and is really cool to see. If you live in Chicago, it's up through the summer so check it out!

"Takashi Murakami imagine la statue Flower Parent and Child avec Louis Vuitton en 2020, en réponse optimiste à la pandémie mondiale. Véritable symbole d’espoir, la plante incarne son "mouvement Superflat" (issu du manga) : rayonnant et amusé, entre rêve et réalité. Plus encore, l'œuvre chaleureuse représente un duo parent-enfant à pétales, inscrit parmi les créatures kawaï (mignon) phares de l’univers fantastique de l’artiste.
Une thématique familiale qui rejoint les inspirations de son travail, en évolution perpétuelle. Après son fameux panda et sa pieuvre loufoque, tous deux devenus heureux parents, ou bien Miss Good Things et Mr. Bad Things, couple totem du bien et du mal… Takashi Murakami plante une nouvelle graine de sa marguerite signature."

Installée depuis mi-décembre 2024, dans le Jardin d'Acclimation en face du bâtiment de la Fondation, cette sculpture est là pour promouvoir un événement artistique et commercial : la réédition d’une collaboration historique entre Murakami et la maison Vuitton, sa toute première collection-capsule réalisée pour la marque en 2003, Monogram Multicolor. Une collection iconique distribuée depuis le 1er janvier 2025.
