Taddington Church , dedicated to St Michael and All Angels is located in one of the highest villages in England. Most of St Michaels is Medieval having been built in the 13th century, probably on the site of an earlier church. Although records don't prove this , there are remains in the churchyard that point to earlier celtic religion, and Norman stonework.
For those of you who know the area well , you won't be surprised to see the two most popular building materials used. Limestone for the older and main body of the church , and gritstone for the steeple.
The bunting in the photo is to attract attention to the Flower Festival Week , and the associated Well Dressings ( just two wells in Taddy ) etc. (Beer festival at the end of the month , but I don't think the church is involved !😊)

A White faced Heron hunting tadpoles on the cliff tops in Kamay National Park, Sydney. It was shaking its' feet to stir the taddies into the reach of that lightning fast beak. The image is all about the sharp angles of those feet and bill.

MAGIC NIGHT, MY FRIENDS....
On December 29th 2015 the swollen River Wharfe, which had risen dramatically. Caused the biggest upset to Tadcaster for several hundred years. The bridge collapsed, with the footage been seen worldwide.
Then came the long task to repair the damage, after over a year of separation. Tadcaster was completed again, at around 3pm ish on Friday Feb 3rd 2017, as the bridge was opened. It was a time for everyone in Tadcaster to celebrate, reflect and begin to grow again.
On a very cold and foggy Monday morning, I ventured out to Taddy, for a look at the bridge and see the vehicles travelling on the bridge. After 1pm the sun decided to appear, thus bring in a little more brightness. Here Coastliner 3636 working the 840 service from either Whitby or Thornton-Le-Dale is seen heading for Leeds, crossing the bridge.
Personally, the town seemed to have found its vitality, as the traffic brought some life and noise.
So Tadcaster is now reopened for business, come on down and see the bridge and stay a while, then enjoy one of the many pubs in the town.
I've been in a Tinkerbelle , fairy mood lately & this made me think of them...maybe it cause the girls got the new movie for Halloween & it has been playing 12 hours a day everyday over & over... but I love it!!
