Le reflet d’un instant de réalité, sans trucage. A moment of true reality, without editing.
This artwork is titled "Tableau in Steel" located at the entrance to Regner Park. West Bend, WI.
The figure shapes were cut out of the large steel panel. Some placed several inches in front and some behind. Creates interesting silhouettes and shadows.
"In the autumn brilliance
feathers tingle at fingertips.
This tingling brilliance
burns under cover of gray air and
brown lazily
unfalling leaves,
it eats into stillness zestfully
with sound of plucked strings,
steel and brass strings of the zither,
copper and silver wire
played with a gold ring,
a plucking of crinkled afternoons and
evenings of energy, thorns under the pot.
In the autumn brilliance
a drawing apart of curtains
a fall of veils
a flying open of doors, convergence
of magic objects into
feathered hands and crested heads, a prospect
of winter verve, a buildup to abundance."
D. Levertov
Reenactors frequently set up displays at their camps. This one was straight out of a renaissance still life so, being a still life kind of guy, I had to take a picture. The folks in the camp were amazed that I was spending so much time photographing this tableau, so I explained to them that my still life interest.
EXCEPT, I don't consider this a still life FOR ME. This arrangement wasn't BY me...I was merely photographing what someone else had arranged. So I consider it a "tableau." Harumph!

Got up at 3:45am to capture a sunrise at Mesa Arch in Cayonlands National Park. When I arrived in the pitch black, there were already 3 people there. By the time the sun had started to rise, there were 25 people there. I know there's thousands of these images out there, but I would still recommend the experience of seeing this arch transform into the orange glow you see here.
Thanks for having a look and wishing you all a great week!

SERIE „TABLEAU“
The whole series you can see here:
I felt that these Krefft's River Turtles were re-enacting some scene from reptilian history for the camera. One of the dominant species of freshwater turtles on the Queensland coastal strip and inland, they were gathered in large numbers in the lakes of Billabong Sanctuary.
