This is cool! If you visit Death Valley and eat at the Furnace Creek Ranch Cafe, you can plan out where you'll go next using the tabletop. I especially likes the little ghosties printed next to the ruined building that marked each individual gold-mining ghost town.
I'd like to think that someone observed diners unfolding maps all the time while eating and decided to simplify that step.

Picked up a tabletop tripod. As you can tell from the blurriness, I took this photo without the help of a tripod. Still have to get a real tripod, but I also still have to get a real camera, like a Nikon D70. Mmmm...
