Kind of interesting, since the conference is about disrupting TV and really, TV Guide's current model is about telling you when something is on, and where (the channel). But if there is no time, online, and what matters is how something is valuable to one or another watcher, then the model must shift.
This TV Guide article from July 1994 is one of my favorites. It's from a book of actual memos issued by TV executives over the years called "A Martian Wouldn't Say That." I'm sorry to say that every single one of these is real and were actually sent to each program's producers. And now you know why TV is the way it is.
