Out once again photographing Tui's. They make wonderful subjects and soon they will be gone again up country. So I'm making the most of them.
The tūī ( Prosthemadera novaeseelandiae) is a boisterous medium-sized bird native to New Zealand. It is blue, green, and bronze coloured with a distinctive white throat tuft (poi). It is an endemic passerine bird of New Zealand, and the only species in the genus Prosthemadera.

Patience rewarded!
At the Karori Wildlife Sanctuary they tell people to stand or sit still and look and listen and they will see birds, but many people pass through talking loudly and walking fast. Seconds before I took these shots I had been berated by a tourist sho said it was a waste of time because they saw no birds. I sat in some path-side tussock right where they has not seen any birds and watched the flax flowers in the sun opposite me. Sure enough, this tui soon came and as it flitted from flower to flower, gave me some priceless shots!
