New to Classic, Annfield Plain as YN06 CJU
I was so very excited to see an adult and a couple of juvenile tui come down onto the flax flowers near my back deck to feed- so close... Now the flowers have all become seed-heads, and it will be summer in nearly a year’s time before any come back to feed. And this year has been a ‘mast flowering’ year, with lots of flowers. It might be several years before there is quite such a feast to attract them so often to my backyard again.

Tui in Kowhai tree singing. Apparently when you can see a Tui's beak opening but can hear no sound it's singing at a frequency that humans can't hear.
Out once again photographing Tui's. They make wonderful subjects and soon they will be gone again up country. So I'm making the most of them.

Tui, who has been nic named Fred who lives in the Camellia Bush out the front of Mum and Dad's place here in Matamata
Native only in New Zealand. These birds have a unique calling.And the most interesting thing I find about these birds is that little bit of white beard like feathers under its neck :)
