Local tui feeding next door

I really liked this ship. Possibly more so that I have liked any others previously I have sailed on. It's not the biggest or the fanciest, but the atmosphere was great, and the food was definitely the best I have experienced on board yet. Seen here moored in Dominica.

Since being in another national lockdown for the second time, a lot of my spare time has been spent going through an extensive collection of archives... Might as well as still have numerous photos just waiting to be uploaded.

The one airline still going in the UK, TUI Airways has weathered the storm after numerous high profile carriers went bust, namely Monarch, Thomas Cook and Flybe. TUI Airways is part of a larger collection of airlines operated by TUI Group with subsidiaries in Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands and Scandinavia, as well as partially owning Sunwing Travel in Canada.

Like many carriers, TUI Airways has been affected by the COVID-19 global pandemic, although did see demand briefly recover during the summer of 2020 where countries were slowly reopening for tourism. With the UK in a second national lockdown, there is no demand with the majority of the fleet currently in storage.

Once demand does return and lockdown restrictions ease, TUI Airways are expected to take on 8 second-hand Boeing 737-800s as well as the re-entry into service for their Boeing 737 MAX fleet which have been grounded since 2019. The initial fleet of 9 will increase to 11 as TUI fly Deutschland and TUI fly Netherlands have opted not to take on a Boeing 737 MAX 8 each, although there are reservations for future Boeing 737 MAX 8s as TUI Group have a total of 70 orders for the type. As for the 14 Boeing 737 MAX 10s, their introduction has been delayed to 2023.

Currently, TUI Airways operates 36 Boeing 737s, which includes 30 Boeing 737-800s (29 in short-term storage) and 6 Boeing 737 MAX 8s (all currently in storage). TUI Airways have 8 second-hand Boeing 737-800s, 5 Boeing 737 MAX 8s and 14 Boeing 737 MAX 10s on-order.

Tango Alpha Whiskey Lima is one of 30 Boeing 737-800s operated by TUI Airways, delivered new to Thomson Airways on lease from BBAM on 9th January 2013, later transferring to TUI Airways on 2nd October 2017 and she is powered by 2 CFM International CFM56-7B27E engines. She is currently in short-term storage at London Gatwick since 1st January 2021.

Tui are boisterous, medium-sized, common and widespread bird of forest and suburbia – unless you live in Canterbury. They look black from a distance, but in good light tui have a blue, green and bronze iridescent sheen, and distinctive white throat tufts (poi). They are usually very vocal, with a complicated mix of tuneful notes interspersed with coughs, grunts and wheezes. In flight, their bodies slant with the head higher than the tail, and their noisy whirring flight is interspersed with short glides. nzbirdsonline.org.nz/species/tui

Ever since the US Federal Aviation Administration lifted the grounding of the Boeing 737 MAX in December 2020 after prolonged testing and recertification, numerous countries have also began lifting the restrictions allowing the aircraft to fly in commercial service with the necessary modifications in place.

The UK Civil Aviation Authority and the European Aviation Standards Authority both lifted the grounding of the Boeing 737 MAX on 27th January 2021, with the affected aircraft having software updates to MCAS, pilots undergo further training and rewiring of avionics.

TUI fly Belgium became the first European carrier to operate the Boeing 737 MAX since the grounding was lifted on 17th February 2021, and their reintroduction has been steady with little incident.

TUI Airways began reintroducing the majority of its Boeing 737 MAX fleet during July 2021 as the UK began easing restrictions to international destinations, which has been constantly changing. The carrier has been concentrating their MAX's from their bigger bases such as Birmingham, London Gatwick and Manchester.

Currently, TUI Airways operates 46 Boeing 737s, which includes 31 Boeing 737-800s (one currently in storage) and 15 Boeing 737 MAX 8s. TUI Airways have 2 Boeing 737-800s, one Boeing 737 MAX 8 and 14 Boeing 737 MAX 10s on-order.

Tango Uniform Mike Tango is one of 15 Boeing 737 MAX 8s in service with TUI Airways, delivered new to TUIfly Nordic as SE-RNB on 28th December 2018 and later leased from SMBC in January 2019. She was placed into storage at Stockholm-Arlanda following the two fatal accidents involving the Boeing 737 MAX on 12th March 2019 to 3rd May 2021 where she was positioned to Brussels for re-entry into service and was duly re-registered for TUI Airways as G-TUMT on 4th June 2021 and finally re-entered service on 24th July 2021. She is powered by CFM LEAP-1B27 engines.

I took this from my parents lounge in Auckland, the bottle brush tree is a feeding playground for birds. The yellow patch on it's head is pollen.

A TUI Airlines Belgium Boeing 737-800 just after push back at Eindhoven Airport

Airline: TUI UK

Aircraft: Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner

Registration: G-TUIC

Route: Orlando Sanford (SFB) to Manchester (MAN)

Flight Number / Callsign: BY565 / TOM565

One of two major tour and leisure carriers based in the UK, TUI Airways operates a considerably modern long-haul fleet of Boeing 787s, the carrier being the earliest carrier to take delivery of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, and has proven to be a valuable asset for the company.

The airline has a different business strategy compared to Thomas Cook in terms of long-haul flying, most notable from their Manchester bases. Whilst Thomas Cook have expanded to major US cities and offering cheap air fares in the process, TUI Airways have stuck to their ethos of providing mainly beach, coastal and visitor attraction destinations. The Boeing 787s do the grunt work, with the Dreamliner also providing short-haul flights as to increase capacity over the summer peak.

TUI Airways is the only airline from the UK to serve the Mexican resort of Puerto Vallarta, located on the West Coast. TUI Airways seres the Mexican destination with 2 weekly flights, one from London Gatwick and the second from Manchester. The flights tend to operate in the summer only.

Currently, TUI Airways operates 12 Boeing 787s, which includes 8 Boeing 787-8s and 4 Boeing 787-9s. TUI Airways have 2 more Boeing 787-9s on-order.

Tango Uniform India India is one of 8 Boeing 787-8s in service with TUI Airways, delivered new to Thomson Airways on 28th May 2015 before transferring over to TUI Airways on 2nd October 2017 following a rebrand of the TUI airlines and she is powered by 2 General Electric GEnx-1B engines.
