Halo Trust employees conduct a mine clearing mission in the outskirts of Chartar Village. Nagorno Karabakh has one of the world’s highest per capita rates of accidents caused by mines, and explosive remnants of war (ERW). Halo Trust is an international NGO specialized in the cleanup of minefields and unexploded ordinances. The organization estimates that about 80% of the minefields located in the territory controlled by the Nagorno Karabakh Republic have been cleared. However, they face difficulties financing their activities in the territory due to territorial restrictions placed on a large part of their donor’s funds.

The National Trust is a heritage and nature conservation charity and membership organisation in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
The Trust was founded in 1895 by Octavia Hill, Sir Robert Hunter and Hardwicke Rawnsley to "promote the permanent preservation for the benefit of the Nation of lands and tenements (including buildings) of beauty or historic interest". It has since been given statutory powers, starting with the National Trust Act 1907. Historically, the Trust acquired land by gift and sometimes by public subscription and appeal, but after World War II the loss of country houses resulted in many such properties being acquired either by gift from the former owners or through the National Land Fund.
One of the largest landowners in the United Kingdom, the Trust owns almost 250,000 hectares (620,000 acres; 2,500 km2; 970 sq mi) of land and 780 miles (1,260 km) of coast. Its properties include more than 500 historic houses, castles, archaeological and industrial monuments, gardens, parks, and nature reserves. Most properties are open to the public for a charge (members have free entry), while open spaces are free to all. The Trust had an annual income of nearly £724 million in 2023/24, largely from membership subscriptions, donations and legacies, direct property income, profits from its shops and restaurants, and investments. It also receives grants from a variety of organisations including other charities, government departments, local authorities, and the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

They sometimes say that a dog chooses you, and this was certainly the case with Phoenix. He was a young show dog when I met him when I worked as a live-in carer for him and his fellow doggy show mates. However he decided that the show life was not for him and at the same time demonstrated an increasing attachment to me and could often be found in my room, snoozing next to me on my bed. Thus it was not long after I stopped working there that his previous owners decided to let me have him – and Phoenix came permanently into my life.
Phoenix brought with him a lot of emotional baggage and has proved a challenge in more ways than one, but though he may never love being around other dogs, or may never really like children very much, these are issues we can always work round. As a faithful companion and friend, they don’t come any more devoted than Phoenix, and since leaving the show world he has discovered his true love in life – dog agility. Nothing can compare to the expression of sheer joy on his face when he’s engaging in his favourite pastime together with me and I wouldn’t change him for any other dog in the world.

This innocent expression is just a ruse; Ralph is not to be trusted. Mostly Beagle and some assorted other evil hounds, this dog has a mind of own. Saying he has “mind” might be stretching it. Ralph does not think, he acts and reacts. 30 pounds of floppy ears and goofy behavior, if dogs can suffer from ADD, this mutt is a perfect case study. Some time ago he escaped from the yard and scurried about the neighborhood on various capers, causing mayhem with the neighborhood cats, the police finally caught up with him. Crime spree over, we had to shuffle down to the pound and post bail. Yes, sorry to say, Ralph has a record.
