Red-tailed Hawk - The Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge,
Basking Ridge, New Jersey
Well, you really can't trust these guys, especially if you're a snake or squirrel. But what I'm referring to in my title is "The Raptor Trust" where this guy was nursed back to health. The Trust is essentially a bird hospital where injured raptors and other large birds (usually brought there by nature loving citizens), are nursed and cared for until they can be released back into the wild. The trust is also a permanent home for a dozen or so raptors (including a resident Bald Eagle) that were brought back to good health, but who's injuries were so debilitating they were unable to fend for themselves in the wild. For many years the The Raptor Trust released their patients back into the wild at The Great Swamp (a mile or so from "The Trust") This particular RT is a living testimonial to the good work done at the Raptor Trust, and wears evidence of its successful rehabilitation on its beak, and you can see it's back its old tricks making a living in the wild.
The trust doesn't tag their patients during recovery, so you may wonder how I know this guy was a patient. The secret is to look closely at its feathers where you can see wear on the shoulder feather tips that brushed up against its cage during its recovery.
The trust no longer releases it's patients in The Swamp at the request of the NPS who feared The Swamp was being over populated by The Trust's old patients. So these days, people friendly hawks are a little harder to come by at the swamp, and the squirrels, voles and snakes are a whole lot happier about that!

While between this place and the liquor store in the previous photo I was subjected to a bizarrely incompetent attempt at a scam. I was walking down the street when I noticed a guy talking to an employee of the liquor store. That guy starts walking in my direction and when he's withing greeting distance he stops and says something like "Good to see you again! Sorry, I'm late for our meeting." I had no idea who the guy was and told him so. He insisted that we knew each other and that we had planned to meet. I repeated that I had no idea who he was and continued on my way. The liquor store guy had his eye on us the whole time so when I got to him I stopped to make sure I wasn't being followed and asked him what that was all about. He just shook his head and said he had no idea. I still wonder how that scam was supposed to work.
The more we nip over the sty to visit our new arrival the trust seems to be coming along nicely. Today 'Twinky' laid down in front of us & posed for the camera

Trust fall, baby
It's a trust fall, baby
Picture a place where it all doesn't hurt
Where everything's safe, and it doesn't get worse
Oh my, we see through bloodshot eyes
Picture a place, somewhere else far away
Where you know what they mean, and they mean what they say
To us and would that be enough?
Are we running out of time?
Are we hiding from the light?
Are we just too scared to fight
For what we want tonight?
Close your eyes and leave it all behind
Go where love is on our side
It's a trust fall, baby
It's a trust fall, baby
You and I and everyone alive
We can run into the fire
It's a trust fall, baby
Yeah, it's a trust fall, baby
Jump with me, come with me, burn like the sun
We'll talk, then we'll cry, then we'll laugh 'til we're done
Oh, my, it's like we're out our minds
We've been running for our lives
We've been hiding from the light
We've been far too scared to fight
For what we want tonight
Close your eyes and leave it all behind
Go where love is on our side
It's a trust fall, baby
It's a trust fall, baby
You and I and everyone alive
We can run into the fire
It's a trust fall, baby
Yeah, it's a trust fall, baby
What if we just fall?
I'm not going without you
(And you're not going alone)
I fell so far 'til I found you
(But you know what you know, when you know)
So, I'm not going without you
(And you're not going alone)
'Cause you know, when you know
Close your eyes and leave it all behind
Go where love is on our side
It's a trust fall, baby
It's a trust fall, baby
What if we just fall?
What if we just fall?
What if we just fall?
What if we just fall?
What if we just fall?
What if we just fall?

The Chanterelle Guy at the farmers market on Södermalm in his stylish Härkila cap. Yours for around 360 SEK. Made from cotton. How much for the mushrooms, I hear you ask? No clue, no money in the world would make me eat that.

I bought a brand new n97 Mini on 16th January from an authorized Nokia retailer (less than a month ago!).
On the 25th of January, it stopped catching signal, so I was given a new-in-box phone as a replacement (or so I thought).
Yesterday (10th February), that new Mini stopped vibrating, so I turned it into the Nokia Service Center. From the reports, it looks like I've been sold a tampered piece as a new one.
So that means, if they can't solve the vibrating problem, they'll send it back and I live with it, because a tampered motherboard voids all warranty. All for no fault of mine.
Having been a strong proponent of Nokia all along, tell me, why should I trust Nokia any more?
EDIT (17 Feb, 2010): Looks like going straight to Nokia worked. I got myself a brand new phone as a replacement. Thanks for the flickr love, everyone!

"Trust"
I took a drive up the Mckenzie river in Oregon yesterday. The peacefulness and beauty of this place never disappoints. This is a easy spot to get to just below Sahalie falls.

The 2019 Maryland Environmental Trust Conference & Symposium was more successful than ever before! Over two days, 170 attendees from around the state participated in the conference. This year's theme was Innovation in Conservation: Readying for the Opportunities and Challenges Ahead.
I found out to day that someone I was trusting was not trust worthy.
Unfortunately, this has happened (or I allow this to happen) too much and has been very costly. Hopefully, I can finally learn and change.
Nymans is an English garden in Haywards Heath, Sussex. It was developed, starting in the late 19th century, by three generations of the Messel family, and was brought to renown by Leonard Messel.
In 1953 Nymans became a National Trust property.[1] Nymans is the origin of many sports, selections and hybrids, both planned and serendipitous, some of which can be identified by the term nymansensis, "of Nymans". Eucryphia × nymansensis (E. cordifolia × E. glutinosa) is also known as E. "Nymansay". Magnolia × loebneri 'Leonard Messel', Camellia 'Maud Messel' and Forsythia suspensa 'Nymans', with its bronze young stems, are all familiar shrub to gardeners.
History
In the late 19th century, Ludwig Messel, a member of a German Jewish family, settled in England and bought the Nymans estate, a house with 600 acres on a sloping site overlooking the picturesque High Weald of Sussex. There he set about turning the estate into a place for family life and entertainment, with an Arts and Crafts-inspired garden room where topiary features contrast with new plants from temperate zones around the world. Messel's head gardener from 1895 was James Comber, whose expertise helped form plant collections at Nymans of camellias, rhododendrons, which unusually at the time were combined with planting heather (Erica) eucryphias and magnolias. William Robinson advised in establishing the Wild Garden.[2]
His son Colonel Leonard Messel succeeded to the property in 1915 and replaced the nondescript Regency house with the picturesque stone manor, designed by Sir Walter Tapper and Norman Evill in a mellow late Gothic/Tudor style. He and his wife Maud (daughter of Edward Linley Sambourne) extended the garden to the north and subscribed to seed collecting expeditions in the Himalayas and South America.
The garden reached a peak in the 1930s and was regularly opened to the public. The severe reduction of staff in World War II was followed in 1947 by a disastrous fire in the house, which survives as a garden ruin. The house was partially rebuilt and became the home of Leonard Messel's daughter[3] Anne Messel and her second husband the 6th Earl of Rosse. At Leonard Messel's death in 1953 it was willed to the National Trust with 275 acres of woodland, one of the first gardens taken on by the Trust. Lady Rosse continued to serve as Garden Director.
