On a grey rainy day Southern Bulleid West Country Light pacific 34092 City of Wells adds to the grey with a volcanic exit from Loughborough station.
The theme of the weekend is the Somerset & Dorset which explains the disc headcode which was used on the S&D for a stopping train.
This location was made famous in recent years for steam running hard up the steepest part of the Missionary Ridge on the Belt Line. Today steam has taken the back seat for diesels, seen here TVRM train Nº 225 is making a run up hill as the train gets off the Belt-line heading east at sunset. The dinner train is heading back to Grand Junction to end the first schedule of the Dinner Train of the evening. Once arriving at Grand Junction passenger will de-train, and the crew will get ready for the 8:15pm schedule run back toward the Belt Line.
Maryland Department Of Transportation NPCU (Non-Powered Control Unit) #7100 sits for the weekend on a stub track at the former B&O roundhouse in Brunswick Yard on September 3, 1990. The 7100 was manufactured by EMD in February 1951 for the B&O as F7 #293A-a phase 1 F7 to be precise. It was renumbered 4553 during 1957 when all remaining B&O steam locomotives were renumbered from a 4 digit series to a three digit series to make room for the expanding diesel electric fleet.
A river runs through it, a 1956 Buick, 1958 Oldsmobile, 1957 Chevy (maybe convertible), and several other dinosaurs (cream-puffs) from a fast approaching bygone era of the ICE automobile and private transportation are entombed in the river bank from the great floods of Boulder county in 1969; playing a rule of thirds game along the Left Hand Creek with a newly painted 2024 Amtrak Showcase passenger special with the Colorado Governor and other prominent Amtrak and ColoRail patrons on thier way to Longmont, CO on Thursday March 7, 2024. This line hasn’t seen revenue passenger service since 1967 operated by the CB&Q, and C&S. Now an opportunity for a regional train and even a return to service between Billings, MT and Denver. The “Night Crawler“ may actually come back in the memory of that 1958 Oldsmobile entombed in the mud.
I saw someone else shoot this spot several years ago and wanted to try it when the light was right and with something outrageously flashy a perfect fit.

“ The first train to carry passengers between Denver and Longmont in decades rolled out of Union Station Thursday afternoon with Gov. Jared Polis, state lawmakers and transportation leaders on board.
“We are the inaugural passengers on Front Range Passenger Rail demo today,” Polis said, kicking off the trip from Union Station’s Platform 5. “All aboard!”
The urban sprawl gave way to farm fields, creeks and cottonwood trees as the Amtrak Superliner moved away from the city. About a half-hour in, the train merged onto freight tracks that aren't used used for passenger travel.
“This is a huge moment in my life,” said conductor Brad Swartzwelter over the loudspeakers. “I grew up in Boulder. I’ve spent my entire life watching freight trains on the line that we just joined, and I can’t tell you what an honor it is to now be the conductor of the first passenger train on the main line towards Boulder.”
The 44-mile demonstration trip to Longmont took about 90 minutes, far slower than what the train will ultimately travel when it opens to the public, according to Amtrak President Roger Harris and other transportation officials. Amtrak plans to operate along the route, which will also connect to other Amtrak routes.“
Purr, purr, purr.
The Ontario Southland rolls CP interchange traffic eastward on the Galt Subdivision at dusk. The classic Chessie System cat logo still shows on the front of the GP9, long after Chessie was put to sleep by CSX.
Once this shot was on the CF card, it was time to highball home to Chicago, arriving home around 0100 in the morning. With work at 0800. And it was 100% worth it!

Heart of Helsinki, center of transportation - busses, trains, even airplanes
Getting on the cliff was quite a journey itself. The place itself was isolated and off-limits. After marching through tall grass (occupied with ticks) the view was magnificent. Gotta come back someday
Powell Street, San Francisco, CA
I definitely wanted to capture an image of the famous San Francisco cable cars. This one is at the end of the line near Market Street.

There is always action.

OTDC Buses used for transportation of 140 wildlife photographers who participated in National Chilika Bird Festival 2019.
A little bit of street photography. Literally. This is the ever changing view from the bus stop on public square.

The World Trade Center Transportation hub is not any train station. It is an architectural wonder, created by architect Santiago Calatrava.
In this photo of the Oculus, you can see its white lines reaching up to the sky and enclosing the World Trade Center in NYC. Obviously, the World Trade Center is much taller, but the angle and 14 mm lens create an optical illusion. The diagonal lines frame the larger building.
I chose a black and white low-key processing allows the light to stand out on Oculus while the rest of the buildings fall into the background. In the foreground, you can barely see silhouettes of people looking at the buildings, including my daughter and wife.
And you can see a second popular image of the Oculus showing the light from inside its shadows on my Facebook page.
