I found a dandelion that had just started opening up after transitioning from flower to seeds.

It never struck me before today, but I find it quite amazing that it starts as a flower, closes, and then reopens as seeds.

Essai réussi ! Mais il vaut mieux ne pas en abuser...

I have been observing this hyacinth for some days now. It is clearly withering away. In that respect the verb "die" would be applicable. But it is not that simple, because in all of this terminal decline the seeds of new life are being developed. What is happening is a kind of metamorphosis. In other words, there is continuity. Transformation does happen to all forms of life, including us. Whether there is metamorphosis and, hence, continuity, depends on whether or not new life can come out of the old. Just follow the hyacinth. Fuji X-Pro 1 plus Helios 44M-7 wide-open plus a 2x tele converter.

Walking over a footbridge in Bushy Park Gardens, I was intrigued to see how the reflection of a leafless tree appeared to become foliated and in bloom thanks to a water plant in the stream below.

Transformation is a journey without a final destination.

Hi everyone,

Due to the new interface I will not be as active on Flickr as before. I live rural, rely on 3G mobile internet, and find the high resolution/justified/continuous scroll type view far too slow. In fact, it is so slow that it ain't going at all...

This is most unfortunate, as I loved keeping up to date with all your work... It leaves me feeling sad and frustrated; why can't Flickr just give us the option to view photostreams in small or medium again? I will attempt to stop by your streams as much and as regular as possible, while also performing administrative duties. The upgrade hasn't done me any favours...

Thanks everyone for the continued support, advice, feedback, views and faves... Sharing would have been meaningless without you all!

Take care, and I will see you all around!

Regards,

Elizme

PS - I am busy acquainting myself better with Photoshop... I hope you are enjoy the results thus far!

UPDATE: There actually IS a way now to view someone else's stream in the old format; it will look exactly the same as when you are viewing your own after clicking on 'edit'... All you have to do is enter/add ?details=1 after the person's homepage link/url in the browser. Using my own as an example:

www.flickr.com/photos/flickvlooi/?details=1 instead of just www.flickr.com/photos/flickvlooi/

This is far from ideal, and must be entered every time you wish to view someone's photos... But at least one can now read descriptions, scroll much faster and jump between pages also!

Good luck guys, and thanks to Ben for letting me know! :)

The mystical meaning of the owl is profound and often contradictory, varying greatly depending on the culture. It is usually considered a symbol of wisdom, mysticism, and transformation, but is also perceived as a harbinger of death or misfortune.

Posted for the Macro Mondays theme "superstition".

HMM !!!

Nature is slowly transforming, becoming something better and brighter even though it is through cold and darkness

This picture was shot moments after the butterfly emerged from its chrysalis. It happened incredibly fast!

Are you ready to let go? It feels like winter already but I’m still not quite ready to let go of these few summer months we had! What do you think?

In winter season, peanuts, roasted in the shell, are available and are a popular winter snack. They are imported from several African countries, or the U.S.

During eating some peanuts, I had the idea to show the interesting details of this fruit.

Worth photographing? A dark, mundane backstreet scene. And when I see the picture it evokes different thoughts and feelings from when I was there, photographing. Reality differs from its representation (the photo). This is the transformative power of photography. Sometimes it happens, even when I am photographing straight on, editing straight forward.

In winter, even a jumble of ugly weeds can be transformed into a thing of beauty. I simply softened this image and treated it to a complementary vignette.

Sunrise on a stormy day

This is the ugliest bridge in Prague… grey Beton bridge presses heavily to the nice houses… the sunset rays change and transform it to the beautiful gold Line stretching the sky …

When the sun hits your face just right and you are overwhelmed with appreciation for the fleeting beauty of nature's transformation.

Still flowing, even though the temperatures stay low for weeks.

The transformation from Winter to Spring has finally happened here in Ottawa! I went back to The Ottawa River to find that all the snow & ice has finally melted! I found this first tree had a pretty interesting shape!

Due to bad weather I decided to visit the museum...

Look what came up :)

I discovered this dragonfly nymph shell up at the lake this past August. Dragonflies are one of my favourite insects, and until recently, I didn’t realize that they went through a transformation (metamorphosis) similar to butterflies. Beautiful symbolism.

Artists: JAN HERRMANN & TIM SCHMEER
