The Shtangeyev trail in the Yalta Nature Reserve is one of the most popular hiking routes in the Crimean Mountains. It starts near the Uchan-Su Waterfall and goes to the top of Stavri-Kaya Mountain. The Shtangeev trail is named after the famous doctor Fyodor Shtangeyev from Yalta. He was engaged in the treatment of tuberculosis and other lung diseases. Shtangeyev, as well as Sergey Botkin, paid much attention to the study of the beneficial effects of the climate of the Southern Coast of Crimea on human health. In these places, the phytoncides of the coniferous forest are mixed with the sea breeze, which creates a positive effect for the treatment of lung diseases. The Shtangeyev trail was created in 1899. The trail passes at the foot of a rocky mountain range. In one place it is literally cut through the vertical slope of the mountain. The views of the Crimean Mountains of the Yalta Reserve, which open from the Shtangeyev trail, are more picturesque than on the Botkin trail.
It is incomparably easier to believe what you have been accustomed to believe ... however, follow your path!
Low light in the sky nearing days end walking back to the vehicle a bobcat popped up onto the trail ahead of us. It was aware of our presence yet continued to stop along the way to scan something to hunt. When things like this happen I call it a gift.
The daily Northumberland to Enola turn, H53 flies south through some fresh snow with a pair of ex-Conrail SD40-2 locomotives, crossing the Appalachian Trail at Clark's Ferry.
A short outbreak ridge of the trail along the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. Took a couple of pre-teens up here for a hike. They were very unimpressed. No cell service.
I took this photo in April. It hit 100 degrees in the sun here today. Waiting on the "big storm" tonight - Much cooler tomorrow.
Chaotic woods photography ... on the Florida National Scenic Trail, Withlacoochee State Forest, Citrus County, Fl
A few shots that I never got to for throwback Thursday, before the end of the year. I woke up early and processed these in the wee hours, this morning.
This is another image that I have processed in only recent times. The image shows a bridleway in Oxton, Nottinghamshire, being partially lit by low Autumn sunshine. The sides of this woodland actually contain a BMX style course and I'd been trying unsuccessfully to find a strong composition in this area. Just at the end of the shoot, however, I came across this scene, which upon processing, I felt was actually a slightly stronger image than I first thought.
