The original dish of the plum pudding originated back to the 14th Century but did not arrive into Ireland until the Victorian era.
It is a traditional receipt handed down in families with the pudding full of fruits, spices, almond apples and cherries and or Irish Guinness/whiskey,
Each member of the household stirs in the recipe for good luck and in the days of old coins were added as a tradition to give finders health, wealth, happiness and wishes (stopped now due to choking hazards).
The joy of one of my Parent's bringing the pudding to the table, turning down the lights and pouring brandy over the top of the pudding and lighting it was one of pure excitement and then we ate the delicious pudding.
The recipe has been handed down from my Mother and my Father was a great photographer and photographed us every Christmas.
For this Macro Mondays project I used flash and a continuous light. It was difficult to take the pudding in one image to keep it in focus so I took a series of focus stacked images and processed them as layers in Photoshop.
Difficult to take the image and light the brandy in a pan and then run to the table and take an image.
The flame from the Brandy was blue so did not come out so well in the macro images (some little blue dots in image) as had to pour over the pudding and then take the shot.
The pudding after 6 takes was well doused in Brandy at this stage was was eaten in one go - yummy.
I did this today for Instagram #colorschallenge where someone tagged me for color RED. :)
I think Laszlo is quite the classic vampire isn't he? 🍷

Near My Hao in Vietnam’s Hung Yen Province, soy sauce production is a centuries-old craft rooted in tradition. The region’s soy sauce is renowned for its rich flavor and natural fermentation process. Made from soybeans, glutinous rice, salt, and water, the sauce is crafted using time-honored techniques. Soybeans are roasted, ground, and mixed with koji (fermented rice), then placed in earthen jars to ferment under the sun for weeks or months. This process develops the sauce’s distinctive aroma and deep umami taste.
The soy sauce industry in My Hao supports local livelihoods, with many families passing down their craft for generations. Traditional methods are being preserved even as producers modernize to meet growing demand. The region’s soy sauce is a staple in Vietnamese cuisine, used for dipping, marinating, and seasoning, and continues to hold cultural and economic importance in the area.

Stepwells in Rajasthan, India, boast a rich history dating back over a thousand years. Initially built to harvest rainwater and provide access to groundwater, they evolved into architectural marvels and communal spaces. Constructed by digging into the earth, these structures were adorned with intricate carvings, serving as both utilitarian and aesthetic symbols. Stepwells facilitated water storage in arid regions, crucial for agriculture, drinking, and rituals. They also served as meeting points, offering respite from the scorching desert heat. Over time, stepwells declined with modernization, but their cultural significance endures, inspiring art, literature, and conservation efforts. Today, they stand as poignant reminders of India's ingenuity in water management and architectural prowess.

In the New Testament, the Transfiguration of Jesus is an event where Jesus is transfigured and becomes radiant in glory upon a mountain. The Synoptic Gospels (Matthew 17:1–8, Mark 9:2–8, Luke 9:28–36) describe it, and the Second Epistle of Peter also refers to it (2 Peter 1:16–18). It has also been hypothesized that the first chapter of the Gospel of John alludes to it (John 1:14).
In these accounts, Jesus and three of his apostles, Peter, James, and John, go to a mountain (later referred to as the Mount of Transfiguration) to pray. On the mountaintop, Jesus begins to shine with bright rays of light. Then the Old Testament figures Moses and Elijah appear next to him and he speaks with them. Both figures had eschatological roles: they summarize the Law and the prophets, respectively. Jesus is then called "Son" by a voice assumed to be God the Father, as in the Baptism of Jesus.
Many Christian traditions, including the Eastern Orthodox, Catholic Church, Lutheran and Anglican churches, commemorate the event in the Feast of the Transfiguration, a major festival. In Greek Orthodoxy, the event is called the metamorphosis.

My timing was right with this shot. I had just walked over to the lake to see if I could capture a decent sunset photo on our last night in Kawaguchiko and happened upon a group doing a photo shoot

There were just three colours of cosmetics – white oshiroi, red beni, and black ohaguro and eyebrow powder, and beni was the only chromatic colour. It was used not only for lip and cheek rouge but also for eyeliner, as a makeup base, and as nail polish on occasion. Beni makeup performed many roles.
The Edo period is defined as the period from 1603, when the Tokugawa family positioned itself at the centre of politics, to 1878, when Yoshinobu Tokugawa returned the power to the emperor. In this period, the samurai rose their status, and the standard of living improved significantly. While the authority refused to have relationships with other countries, Japan created its own unique culture in this period.

Il presepe
Queste sono statuine (molto piccole) di un presepe tradizionale napoletano, comprate 15-20 anni fa a Roma a Piazza Navona. Sono in terracotta "vestita", ossia, piccole come sono, hanno abiti di stoffa.

These are (tiny) pieces of a traditional Neapolitan nativity. I got them in Rome some 15-20 years ago. They are in terracotta and, small as they are, their clothes are fabric.
